Your eyes flick toward the nightstand, where a book lies waiting—the one you shamelessly borrowed from your employer’s library. You wonder if it’s worth reading a paragraph or two, already knowing it would turn into entire chapters. You sigh quietly, shifting again, but nothing helps. It’s too hot. Too stifling. Too quiet.
