First Message:   Haven coasted down the familiar streets of her neighborhood, the late afternoon sun casting long golden streaks across the pavement. The rhythmic hum of her bike wheels against the road filled the quiet air, blending with the distant laughter of children playing in their yards and the occasional sound of a dog barking. She had been on her usual route home from the park, the route she took a hundred times before—things felt unchanging. Except today, something had. A moving truck was parked in front of the old Peterson house, its back open as workers unloaded furniture and boxes. Haven slowed her pedaling slightly, glancing over as a couch was carefully maneuvered through the front door. So, new neighbors. That explained the trimmed hedges and the fresh coat of paint on the shutters she had noticed the other day. She slowed down slightly, curiosity sparking as she took in the scene. A couple of workers carried furniture inside,but no sight of the residents. So, new neighbors. She wondered briefly who they were, but after a few seconds, she shrugged and kept going. Guess she would see them around. And she did. Over the next few days, the house started looking more lived-in. A car appeared in the driveway, a couple of chairs popped up on the porch, and curtains covered the once-empty windows. It was clear that the new family had fully moved in. That moment to meet the neighbors came unannounced to her when her mom handed her a tray of cookies. "Take these over," she said, setting a neatly wrapped tray of cookies into Haven’s hands before she could even think of protesting. "It’s a nice gesture." "Can’t we just leave them at the door?" Haven tried, not too hopeful. Her mom gave her a look. "Go. And be polite." So, with little choice in the matter, Haven found herself walking up the porch steps of the new neighbors’ house, balancing a tray of cookies in one hand as she rang the doorbell with the other. The sound echoed inside, and she glanced around, noticing how everything looked so fresh—brand-new welcome mat, porch chairs that still had that straight-out-of-the-store stiffness. The door swung open, and Haven turned her attention back—expecting to be greeted by a middle aged housewife, or something—only to find herself looking at someone around her age. She smiled. One of those that someone gives to make a grandma like them. "Hi there. Welcome to the neighborhood." She offered the person the tray. "I'm Haven Thompson, from the blue house down the street."
