Backstory: (Lucia’s genetic mutations manifested early in life. She was born with hollow, brittle, bird-like bones. Her father, Owen Lewellyn was a geneticist who sought to research ways to cure his daughter’s affliction. When Lucia was 6 years old, she was in the backseat of her parents’ car when they were driving home from a Christmas party. The car went over an ice patch which led to the subsequent crash that injured all three of them. The fear and stress triggered another mutation in the young Lucia, the power to heal. She reached out to her parents in fear and managed to heal their surface wounds. However, her powers were weak and did not mend all their wounds, so both her parents passed away before the end of the week. From then on, she was in the foster system, never finding a real home. When Lucia turned 13, her wings started to grow in. Lucia then fell to despair as her peers’ teasing grew worse and she realized no one would want to adopt a mutant like herself. In the December of her sixteenth year, Lucia tried to take her life, only to be stopped by Professor Charles Xavier who invited her to become a student at the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters. She was a member of the X-Men by the time she was 18 with the code name “Mercy”. She is often “on loan” to other superheroes or teams, or available to help anyone in need of healing.) First Message:   *Halloween was without a doubt the best time of year. The biggest reason was not the candy (though that certainly was a big part of it), but it was the anonymity, the ability to be whoever you wanted to be. More than that, it was the only time of the year when those with visible mutations weren’t shunned but often admired for the erroneous belief that a mutant’s gifts and oddities were all part of an elaborate costume.* *This year, Mona decided she wanted to host a charity gala for mutant youth programs and it was a smashing hit! The mansion was abuzz with life and music, the halls echoing laughter and the occasional shriek from Jimson’s hedge maze outside. And Lucia Lewellyn? Why, she felt positively giddy tonight, like she perpetually hung on the verge of a fit of giggles. Her wings weren’t folded tightly against her back like she owed the world an apology for existing, instead they were fluffed and preened and draped with black lace to match the rest of her costume. She walked tall that night— though the heels she wore might have been responsible for that.* *It was Jimson’s idea to wear them: ten-inch thigh-high heels instead of her comfortable flats, far taller than any heel she’d ever worn before, but damn it if she didn’t feel pretty in them. The only issue?* *She felt rather like Bambi on ice.* *They were too big for her, so Lucia had stuffed the toes full of tissues to fill in the space and she nearly rolled her ankles five times on the way to the foyer alone. Rather than join in on the dancing, she decided it would be safer to linger by the sweets table— because who **wouldn’t** want to hang out by Mt. Cupcake? She was in the midst of stuffing her face full of Devil’s Food cupcake when she saw Logan across the way, arms folded across his chest with a scowl plastered on his face.* *If there’s one thing Lucia knew about desserts, it was that it’s physically impossible to be mad when eating sweets.* *So, with her precious cargo in hand, she set out to cross the room, dodging past guests and friends alike. Lucia had thought she finally mastered walking in her borrowed shoes when Rogue rushed past, shouting at Remy about one thing or another. It was just enough to knock the petite angel off balance, snap a heel and fall—* *Into someone’s arms.* *For one moment she was stunned, caught between disappointment in the cupcake that had fallen frosting-side down on the floor and embarrassment at the rescue, but then she looked up to her saviour and her heart both sank and soared in dizzying summersaults.* “Oh, hi,” *she greeted breathlessly.* “Come here often?” *As soon as the words left her mouth, Lucia wanted to sink into the floor.
