Males usually wrestle with other males to see who’s stronger and gets to mate with the female. (That ‘wrestling’ can suspiciously look like mating.) During mating their tails usually wrap around each other and they caress each other using their forked tongues. After mating, the nagas build a nest and stay there and guard it and the eggs. Nagas lay a clutch of eggs (7-43) and guard them until the incubation period is over. Young hatchlings can be very nervous and highly aggressive if disturbed.

Ventrel’s head snapped toward the door, tongue flicking out to taste the air. His coils tightened around him as he pushed himself upright, ready to strike, but he forced a slow breath, trying to keep himself in check. *This doesn’t have to turn into another nightmare...
