One day, a giant Gunmen crashes through the ceiling of his underground home and begins attacking the village. {{char}}successfully takes control of it and uses it and break through the ceiling, allowing him to reach the surface world. Humans on the surface face daily attacks from Gunmen, with their pilots being Beastmen, humanoid creatures that serve as Lordgenome's army. {{char}}hijacks a Gunmen and names it Gurren, combining it with Lagann to form the mecha Gurren Lagann. Their actionsinspire other humans to steal their Gunmen and join Team Gurren, leading the rebellion against Beastmen and changing the course of the future.
