Meanwhile, Asia Argento also faces emotional trials. ⸻ 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Characters Introduced & Issei’s Connection Vali Lucifer • Azazel’s foster son and the host of the White Dragon Albion. Raised and trained by Azazel before rebelling to lead the Vali Team within the Chaos Brigade. Acts as Issei’s rival, pushing him to unlock his full potential. Gasper Gehenna • A timid half‑Vampire student whose unstable Sacred Gear causes him to lock down the school’s old building in time stop. Issei helps him stabilize his powers. Gasper becomes a loyal friend and peer. Additional Minor Introductions • Aika Kiryuu: Asia’s friend, romance‑advisor, comic relief in season 2. • Fallen Angels like Kokabiel, Baraqiel, and Shemhazai appear heavily in exposition and battles. ⸻ 💓 Issei’s Relationship Development • With Rias: Their bond deepens—by the end of this season Issei fully acknowledges his love, and Rias reciprocates. He begins to take his promise to become a “harem king” more seriously (even if he still hesitates). • With Akeno, Asia & Koneko: They confront Issei’s emotional fears. Akeno supports him emotionally; Asia continues to confess love and jealousy over his lustful tendencies; Koneko assists emotionally overcoming insecurities. These interactions prompt Issei to admit real feelings. • With Gasper: The relationship blossoms from a mentor-level to sincere friendship: Issei helps Gasper gain confidence and control of his Sacred Gear. Gasper becomes a devoted junior and often assists in battle via his time freeze ability. ⸻ 🔧 Azazel’s Role: From Mysterious Patron to Mentor • Midway through Season 2, Azazel formally reveals himself as a Fallen Angel and the former leader of the Grigori. He becomes the advisor of the Occult Research Club, replacing Kokabiel’s influence. • Mentorship & Coaching • With his vast knowledge of Sacred Gears, he teaches Issei (and others) how to better utilize their gear. • He simplifies complex concepts using analogies that resonate with Issei, sometimes sexual-themed to fit his perversion-driven persona. • From Antagonist to Ally • Though initially aligned only as a technical patron, after Vali’s betrayal of Grigori, Azazel formally abandons his post as Fallen Angel Governor General, stepping down in favor of Shemhazai. • He becomes the club’s special technology advisor and Issei’s direct coach in training. • Prepping for the Azazel Cup • He establishes the Azazel Cup, an international Rating Game tournament, to test Issei and others. This tournament becomes a vehicle for Issei to compete against Vali and gauge his improvements under Azazel’s guidance. Battle 1: Kokabiel at Kuoh Academy Context: Fallen Angel leader Kokabiel attacks Kuoh Academy after stealing multiple Excalibur fragments to provoke war among the devils, angels, and fallen angels . What Happens: • Rias’s peerage confronts Kokabiel and his forces, but their attacks barely dent him. • Kokabiel taunts them, revealing that God and the Four Devil Kings died in the ancient war, shattering everyone’s worldview and plunging Asia and Xenovia into shock . • This revelation deeply rattles everyone, but instead of giving in to despair, Issei courageously rallies his friends, stating his goal to become the Harem King, inspiring them to fight on . • Before the situation worsens, Vali Lucifer appears as the “White Dragon Emperor”, descends from the sky, easily defeats Kokabiel, tears off his wings, and halts Kokabiel’s self-destruct spell. He then takes Kokabiel and Freed away to face consequences within the Grigori . Significance: • Introduces Vali Lucifer as a major power-player and rival. • Establishes the broader supernatural stakes and reveals deep secrets about the divine war and the fragility of the system. • Solidifies Issei’s role as a leader and emotional backbone for Rias’s peerage. ⸻ ⚔️ Battle 2: Issei vs. Vali Lucifer Context: Shortly after Kokabiel’s defeat, Vali formally challenges Issei—under Azazel’s training—to push him toward becoming stronger . What Happens: • At the Three Factions peace conference ambush, Gasper is kidnapped, and Azazel comes to the rescue, sacrificing his arm using his Downfall Dragon Spear to kill Cattleya Leviathan. He also gifts Issei and Gasper special bracelets to better control their Sacred Gears . • During the rescue pursuit, Vali turns traitor and attempts to kill Issei’s parents to force Issei to evolve as a warrior . • Enraged, Issei fully activates his Balance Breaker, absorbing part of Vali’s Divine Dividing power into his Boosted Gear—a risky maneuver prompted by Azazel’s tactical guidance . • Though Vali remains formidable, Issei lands significant damage, prompting Vali to flee with his subordinate Bikou, declaring that he’ll return to face Issei when the time is right . Significance: • Represents Issei’s dramatic growth—from relying on raw power to employing strategic sacrifice and technical enhancement under Azazel’s mentorship. • Confirms Vali Lucifer as Issei’s ongoing rival—neither defeated nor beaten, but engaged in a contest of ascending strength. • Sets up future escalation in later arcs, especially the upcoming Azazel Cup and prolonged rivalry Season 3 Overview • Titled High School DxD BorN, aired from April 4 to June 20, 2015, comprising 12 episodes. The first nine episodes adapt volumes 5–7 of the light novels; the final three are an original anime-only story arc . • This season continues Issei’s journey through arcs including “Birth of the Breast Dragon Emperor” and “The Heroic Oppai Dragon” leading into a setup for future supernatural challenges . ⸻ 🔎 Main Arcs & Plot Highlights 1. Young Devils Training & Gathering (Episodes 1–3) • During a demon-world summer break, Issei and the Occult Research Club gather in the Underworld for training. This brings new allies such as Xenovia and Rossweisse closer into the circle . • Episode 3 (“Cat and Dragon”) reveals Koneko’s conflict with her sister Kuroka, while Loki disrupts the peace conference by summoning Fenrir. Issei awakens his Balance Breaker in a comedic but pivotal moment by poking Rias to break poison paralysis . 2. “Birth of the Breast Dragon Emperor” & “The Heroic Oppai Dragon” (Volumes 5–7) • Issei continues sharpening his Red Dragon Emperor powers, dealing with the fallout from rising political tensions and supernatural threats. • He confronts new foes like Diodora Astaroth (leader of part of the Khaos Brigade), and advances toward major Rating Game tournaments that will test all peerage members . • The anime finale ties with an original ending: Issei is placed in a coma, but Asia rescues him with her healing rings and shares a healing kiss during the closing moments—symbolizing the deep bond between them . ⸻ 🌟 Characters Introduced & Their Impact on Issei Xenovia Quarta • Former exorcist from the Church, becomes a devil and forms close bonds with Asia and Irina. Initially enters the story to bear Issei’s children for strength, but gradually develops genuine feelings for him . • Begins expressing romantic interest aggressively and eventually becomes his first Knight in later arcs. Rossweisse • A Valkyrie-turned-devil teacher at Kuoh Academy. Joins Rias’s peerage as the second Rook later in the series. • Offers guidance to Issei on academics, training, and relationships, and develops romantic interest in him over time . Kuroka & Odin / Norse Divinities • Kuroka, Koneko’s older sister, causes emotional turmoil when confronting Koneko and the team at the Young Devils’ gathering . • Odin, Loki, and Fenrir represent the Norse gods’ political interference in the Three-Faction peace process. Their presence raises the political stakes and reveals the fragile balance between devil factions . ⸻ 💖 Issei’s Relationships in Season 3 With Rias • Their bond continues to deepen emotionally and romantically—as the central pillar of many key moments, including Issei’s awakening of new power and shared trials . With Asia Argento • Asia’s healing powers save Issei near the season’s end, culminating in an intimate, emotional moment that confirms her romantic bond with him . With Akeno, Koneko, Gasper • Ongoing emotional support and camaraderie. Koneko confronts past trauma (via her sister), Gasper deepens his loyalty, and Akeno continues to emotionally support Issei in more subtle interpersonal ways . With Xenovia & Rossweisse • Xenovia and Rossweisse establish new dynamics with Issei—Xenovia expressing romantic intent and Rossweisse offering thoughtful counsel and emotional warmth in evolving teacher–student and peerage relationships Season 4 Overview Season Title: High School DxD Hero Air Dates: April 10 – July 3, 2018 (12 episodes) This season adapts volumes 9–10 of the light novels, including the second half of the “Heroic Oppai Dragon” arc, with closer fidelity to author Ichiei Ishibumi’s original material . ⸻ 🧩 Main Plot & Arcs School Trip to Kyoto • The Occult Research Club takes a school trip to Kyoto. Amid political tension from the Hero Faction (led by Cao Cao), the trip turns into a battleground when members of their faction attack them . • New adversaries from the Hero Faction, based on historical legend (e.g. Cao Cao, Siegfried, Heracles), are introduced, challenging Issei and his group to fight on foreign soil . Hero Tournament / Battle Across Factions • As the season progresses, multiple major rating games and confrontations unfold involving heroes, devils, and other factions. • We see the power of Sairaorg Bael and significant involvement of Gremory family members like Venelana and Millicas, and the comatose Misla Bael, whom Rias tries to awaken using Pailingual tricks and emotional appeals from Issei . ⸻ 🌟 New Characters Introduced These characters debut in Season 4 and play major roles in arcs connected to faction politics, family lore, and power escalation: • Sairaorg Bael – A powerful Great Satanael-class devil from the Bael clan, tied to emotional family drama with Misla . • Misla Bael – Sairaorg’s mother, in a coma. Rias and Issei attempt to wake her via emotional means involving compassion and the ancient Pailingual power . • Venelana & Millicas Gremory – Rias’s cousins, present during the power struggle and negotiation scenes . • Hero Faction Members – Legendary “hero” personas like Cao Cao, Siegfried, Heracles, and Jeanne, representing the other side in the Kyoto conflict and factional contention . ⸻ 💕 Issei’s Relationships & Emotional Development With Rias Gremory • Their bond continues its deep emotional arc. Rias trusts Issei implicitly, relying on him in delicate situations like attempting to revive Misla Bael. Issei increasingly acts as both partner and emotional supporter, not just battle ally . With the Harem (Asia, Akeno, Koneko, Xenovia, Rossweisse, Ravel, Gasper) • All retain strong interpersonal dynamics. Particularly, Asia and Akeno maintain emotional intimacy; Rossweisse takes on more advisory roles leveraging her teacher–student closeness, and the others provide encouragement and occasional emotional conflict as power intensifies central stakes . With Rossweisse • Now a devout member of Rias’s peerage and a club teacher, Rossweisse gives Issei guidance in academics, power training, and emotional maturity. Their professional relationship subtly evolves toward deeper appreciation . With Gasper • Continues his dynamic as Issei’s loyal junior; Gasper aids in battle and is mentored in control and training. Their closeness deepens through shared fighting challenges Season 1 (High School DxD) • Rias Gremory: Revives Issei as her pawn; he is initially terrified but becomes infatuated with her beauty and kindness. By the end, Issei deeply respects and desires Rias, but feels unworthy, framing it around his dream of becoming a “Harem King.” • Asia Argento: Saved by Issei, joins the peerage, becomes emotionally and physically attached, calling him “Issei-san.” She confesses her love for him, and Issei feels protective of her. • Akeno Himejima: Flirts heavily with Issei, teasing him about his perverted nature while showing genuine affection. • Koneko Toujou: Cold toward Issei initially but begins to warm up, appreciating his kindness and resolve during the battle against Freed and Raynare. Relationship Progress: • Issei’s feelings for Rias deepen but remain overshadowed by his “Harem King” dream. • Asia openly loves him. • Akeno and Koneko begin developing hidden feelings but are less explicit. ⸻ 🩷 2️⃣ Season 2 (High School DxD New) • Rias: Becomes more openly affectionate with Issei, showing jealousy when other girls approach him. Issei begins to recognize his feelings are serious but remains shy about expressing them. • Asia: Continues being loving and clingy, supports Issei in battles, and desires to be closer to him. • Akeno: Reveals more of her vulnerable side, deepening emotional intimacy with Issei and confessing her feelings during her family-related arc. • Koneko: Overcomes her fear of her nekomata side, with Issei’s support, and starts to develop stronger feelings toward him. Relationship Progress: • Rias and Issei’s relationship becomes the emotional center, though unspoken. • Akeno and Asia both clearly express love. • Koneko moves from stoic junior to affectionate junior with romantic undertones. ⸻ 🩷 3️⃣ Season 3 (High School DxD BorN) • Rias: The bond strengthens during their attempts to revive Misla Bael and through shared challenges, but Issei’s fear of being seen as only a pervert hinders him from confessing fully. • Asia: Remains devoted, helps heal and support Issei emotionally and physically, sharing moments of intimacy. • Akeno: Competes for Issei’s attention, showing her desire to be chosen by him. • Koneko: Fully acknowledges her feelings for Issei, becomes clingy, and openly competes with the others for his attention. Relationship Progress: • Issei begins to realize that his feelings for Rias are genuine love, not just lust. • Asia, Akeno, and Koneko become more direct in expressing love, creating friendly competition. ⸻ 🩷 4️⃣ Season 4 (High School DxD Hero) • Rias: Their emotional climax occurs in this season. Issei overcomes his insecurity and fear that Rias only sees him as a servant/pawn and confesses his love for her during the Rating Game battle with Sairaorg, yelling it to the world. Rias reciprocates, and they share a kiss in the sky. • Asia: Remains deeply in love with Issei, fully accepting his feelings for Rias while still hoping to be chosen by him as well. • Akeno: Continues to support Issei emotionally and physically, teasing him but respecting his growing love for Rias. • Koneko: Accepts Issei’s confession to Rias but continues her affection toward him, competing playfully while supporting their relationship. Relationship Progress: • Issei fully acknowledges that he loves Rias above all. • The other girls remain devoted to Issei and continue to support him and compete for his affection, but they respect his love for Rias. ⸻ 👑 Who Does Issei Ultimately Want to Marry? Issei ultimately wants to marry Rias Gremory. • His dream of becoming a “Harem King” shifts from being purely perverted to building a family with Rias and those he loves. • In the light novels (beyond Season 4), Issei proposes to Rias, and they become engaged. • He also accepts the feelings of Asia, Akeno, Koneko, Xenovia, and Rossweisse, eventually forming a true harem while Rias remains his main wife, consistent with devil society customs. Irina Shidō — Childhood friend & Angel • Irina and Issei were childhood playmates until her family moved to England; Issei even thought she was a boy at first . • She has loved him since then and is devastated when he becomes a perverted devil—yet her feelings persist . • She becomes an Ace Angel and eventually reunites with Issei at Kuoh Academy. Their initial tension resolves through cooperation and mutual care . • Motivated by divine duty and strength, she later proposes marriage, hoping to bear Issei’s children to bolster Heaven’s forces—but also deeply loves him . • A special interdimensional room built by Archangel Michael allows them intimacy without her “falling,” and she gradually grows bolder—kissing Issei in the snow and calling him “darling” . • In Volume 23, Issei accepts her proposal, making Irina one of his engaged future wives, and she wishes for at least two children with him . ⸻ ⚔️ Xenovia Quarta — Exorcist-turned-Devil • Xenovia starts as a devout exorcist under the Church and initially clashes with Issei due to her disdain toward Asia—but they reconcile after she joins Rias’s peerage . • She requests Issei’s “strong genes” to conceive powerful children—initially a practical decision with no romance . • Over time, she genuinely falls in love with Issei and often makes bold, comedic seduction attempts, like bringing condoms to school . • During the Azazel Cup, she proposes to him—and he accepts—becoming one of his official future wives. She hopes for at least five children with him, especially strong sons and daughters . ⸻ 😼 Kuroka — Nekomata, Koneko’s older sister & Stray Devil • Introduced antagonistically as part of the Khaos Brigade, she fights Issei but is unexpectedly impressed by his power after he awakens his Balance Breaker  . • Kuroka initially pursues Issei after being rebuffed by Vali—seeking a supernatural lineage—but gradually falls in love with him for his kindness, especially toward her and Koneko  . • She later confesses that Issei and his kindness made her care more about being with him than any utilitarian goal; he reciprocates, promising marriage and children with both sisters  . • Their bond deepens over sibling reconciliation scenes; Kuroka calls Issei by name, kisses him, and shares playful intimacy—her feelings strong and personal, not just genetic ambition  What Is a Rating Game? A Rating Game is a formal match between two Devil “kings” and their peerages, structured like chess: king and servant pieces (Queen, Rook, Knight, Bishop, Pawn). The matches take place in a magical battlefield within the Dimensional Gap, often themed like real-world locations, and serve to evaluate a devil’s strength and rise in status within Underworld society . Types of Rating Games include: • Standard Game: Defeat the opposing King to win. • Dice Figure Game: Blitz matches where the combined dice roll of Kings determines how many piece-value points each side deploys; players select servants based on point cost (e.g. pawn = 1, knight/bishop = 3, rook = 5, queen = 9) . • Scramble Flag Game, Object Break, Lightning Fast, etc.—various rule variants seen later in novels . After being incapacitated in a Rating Game, a player is “retired” and teleported to safety; death is rare but possible . ⸻ 🏆 Key Rating Games You’ve Seen (Up to Season 4) 1. Rias’s Team vs. Riser Phoenix (Season 1, unofficial) • An early match where Rias’s peerage faces Riser. Issei uses his Balancing Breaker (Scale Mail) to force a win. It showed Issei’s strategic power breakthrough and affirmed Rias’s royal lineage strength . 2. Rias vs. Sona Sitri (planned, cut from anime) • A Young Devil Tournament match set between Rias and Sona Sitri, focusing on contrasting strategy vs. power styles. It wasn’t shown in the anime but appears in volume 5 of the light novels . 3. Rias vs. Diodora Astaroth (unofficial, Season 3 arc) • An unsanctioned match interrupted by Chaos Brigade interference. Technically unofficial, but intended as part of the tournament lineup. Reflects the high-stakes political scheming behind the scenes . 4. Rias Gremory vs. Sairaorg Bael (Azazel Cup / Youth Tournament) • After the Chaos Brigade’s disruption, the tournament narrows to a final match between Rias’s and Sairaorg’s teams. It begins as a Dice Figure Game: Kings roll dice to determine total piece-value deployment points; both sides field servants accordingly. • Example: Round 1 each side rolls their dice, the total value determines which servants can be sent—e.g. Rias’s team sent Kiba (knight), who defeats Sairaorg’s knight piece selecting approach. Round 2 features Rossweisse and Koneko versus powerful opponents; both survive but Gremory loses first round piece. Round 3, Issei goes head-to-head with Coriana Andrealphus (distraction-based Bishop), beating her, then Xenovia and Gasper face other high-tier pieces . • The matches reflect full tournament stakes, emotional pressure, and team strategy. Main Enemy Groups Throughout the Series 1. Fallen Angels (Grigori) • Raynare, Kalawarner, Dohnaseek, Mittelt, Freed Sellzen – early antagonists in Season 1. They target Issei and Rias’s peerage to steal Sacred Gears and disrupt the balance between factions. • Kokabiel – a high-ranking Fallen Angel who steals Excalibur fragments to reignite war. He injures Irina and fights Issei’s group in Season 2 before being defeated by Vali Luciano under Azazel’s orders. • Baraqiel – Akeno’s father and former Cadre responsible for Akeno’s half-Fallen heritage. • Azazel and Shemhazai – Grigori officials; Azazel initially appears as a Fallen Angel antagonist before later becoming an ally (mentor); Shemhazai eventually succeeds him as Governor General. 2. Khaos Brigade A hybrid extremist faction formed by dissidents unhappy with the Three Factions treaty: • Vali Lucifer – originally an ally of Azazel, hosts Albion, opposes the Three Factions, and attacks Issei’s family before becoming his rival. • Ophis – Dragon God, initially allied with Khaos Brigade, later cooperates with the heroes. • Diodora Astaroth, Serafall Leviathan, Cao Cao, Shalba Beelzebub – prominent members who instigate chaos and fight the Occult Research Club. 3. Hero Faction (within Khaos Brigade) • Legendary “heroes” such as Cao Cao, Siegfried, Heracles, Jeanne d’Arc join the Hero Faction to challenge the status quo and fight during the Kyoto arc (Season 4). 4. Qlippoth & Trihexa (Evil Dragon War arc) In later stories, Rizevim Livan Lucifer leads Qlippoth to resurrect the ancient monster Trihexa to destroy the Dimensional Gap, inciting a massive war involving all factions. ⸻ 🧭 Three Factions Explained: Angels, Devils & Fallen Angels 👼 Angels (Heaven) • Heavenly beings created by the Biblical God; wield sacred light power that is especially lethal to Devils and Fallen Angels. • Led by Michael (sealed later, later succeeded by Gabriel) as Seraphim. • Utilize the Brave Saints system—humans reincarnated or recruited to replenish their ranks in absence of more angels. 👹 Devils (Underworld) • Created from Lilith by Lucifer to oppose Angels and Fallen Angels. • Organized under a feudal system of peerages using the Evil Pieces chess system. • Led by Sirzechs Lucifer, later Ajuka Beelzebub, former body of Beelzebub, originator of Evil Pieces and Rating Games. 😈 Fallen Angels / Grigori • Former Angels who fell due to impure thoughts and actions, expelled from Heaven. Retain holy-light based powers but operate under dark motives. • Led by the Grigori branch of Fallen Angels: major players include Azazel (former Governor General), Shemhazai (current), Baraqiel, Kokabiel, and others. • They can replenish numbers via offspring or seduction/fall of angels, unlike Angels or Devils. ⸻ 🌐 Historical Relationships & Key Tensions The Great War • A primal conflict among the Angels, Devils, and Fallen Angels, which resulted in the death of the Biblical God, the original Four Satans, and major leaders. • Afterward, all three factions were severely weakened and fought reluctantly, while smaller skirmishes continued. Kuoh Treaty • Following the attempted war sparked by Kokabiel’s Excalibur theft, a peace summit led to the Kuoh Treaty, whereby the three factions agreed to coexist. • This treaty forms the foundation of peace during Seasons 2–4. Khaos Brigade Threats • The coexistence of the Three Factions becomes undermined by the Khaos Brigade—a group mixing Fallen Angels, Devils, Angels, and humans who seek to bring back war and chaos. • Multiple factions within it: Old Satan Faction, Hero Faction, and Qlippoth Faction, each with unique ambitions and methods. Later Escalation: Trihexa & Qlippoth • The extremist Qlippoth faction designed by Rizevim tries to awaken Trihexa—the ultimate Evil Dragon—to break dimensional seal and reorganize power, forcing all Three Factions to unite. • Team DxD, sanctioned by all three powers, takes central role in stopping these threats. These clans mirror the 72 demons from the Ars Goetia in The Lesser Key of Solomon . What are the 72 Pillars? They are a collective of Devil clans—each named after one of these iconic demons. Not all are still active; as of Volume 8, only 32 of the clans remain active, while the other 40 have gone extinct, though some individuals from extinct clans still survive . Examples of active clans include Bael, Agares, Astaroth, Gremory, etc., while extinct ones include Marbas, Valefor, Buer, and others . The clans also held a hierarchical rank—such as Great King (Bael), Archduke (Agares), Duke, Count, Marquis, Prince, etc.—reflecting their prestige and authority Why "72 Pillars"? The name comes from the idea that each clan represents one of the 72 demons of the Ars Goetia, echoing that demonological grimoire’s structure So, to sum up: the "72 Pillars" are the 72 noble Devil bloodlines in the High School DxD universe, with fluctuating status—some extinct, some remaining active—all rooted in demonological lore from the Ars Goetia. The future Both Rias and Akeno graduate high school and move on to college, continuing to live together with Issei and the rest of their peerage at the Hyoudou Residence. Their relationships with Issei evolve significantly—Rias officially becomes his fiancée, while Akeno takes on the role of his bride, both emotionally and symbolically. The Occult Research Club in High School DxD is indeed officially a school club at Kuoh Academy, but in reality, it’s a carefully constructed front for Rias Gremory’s peerage and their supernatural activities. It serves as a convenient base for devils, angels, and other beings to carry out duties like Rating Games or tracking stray devils, while avoiding scrutiny from the rest of the school . ⸻ Is it a club or the Gremory family in disguise? • Officially: Yes, it’s a legit activity club at Kuoh Academy, restored by Rias and Akeno in their early high school years . • Effectively: It operates as the home base for Rias’s peerage—essentially the Gremory devil team—allowing them to perform supernatural tasks under the guise of school club activities . ⸻ What happens after the anime? Do they graduate and stay in the club? • Graduation of Rias and Akeno: When Rias and Akeno graduate from high school, they pass the leadership baton to Asia Argento (President) and Yuuto Kiba (Vice-President) . • Club Continuation: The Occult Research Club continues operating under their leadership. Newer members—like Le Fay and Bennia—join in, ensuring the club’s legacy persists even after Rias and Akeno depart . • Graduation & Beyond: While the anime ends around Rias and Akeno’s high school graduation, in the light novels, the club remains active with new members. The story also continues beyond school events, with many characters, including Rias and Akeno, moving on to the college division of Kuoh Academy or beyond Issei Hyoudou (兵ひょう藤どう 一誠いっせい, Hyōdō Issei) is the main male protagonist of High School DxD. He is a third-year high school student at Kuoh Academy in Class 3-B and a member of the school's "Perverted Trio", a trio of the most perverted men in the entire student body. He likes the other girls but love’s Rias Issei is the Pawn of Rias Gremory's Peerage and a member of the Occult Research Club. After the Evil Dragon War, he was promoted to the rank of a High-Class Devil, becoming the King of his own independent peerage, and is one step closer to fulfilling his dream of having a harem and becoming a "Harem King". Due to his possession of the Longinus; the Boosted Gear, which hosts the Welsh Dragon, Ddraig, Issei is the direct rival of Vali Lucifer, who is the host of the Vanishing Dragon; Albion, who is Ddraig's archrival. Issei is a high school student of average height with short spiky brown hair, with two short locks of hair behind his head, and light brown eyes. Following his training with Tannin, he gained a more muscular and toned build. While he has worn various outfits throughout the series, his most commonly worn outfit is the Kuoh Academy boys' school uniform, which consists of a blazer (more commonly black, although in other media is shown with a tinge of purple or grey, with white accents) over a white, long-sleeved dress shirt with black highlights with a black ribbon on the collar, matching black pants, and brown dress shoes. However, Issei's uniform differs in the fact that he wears a red T-shirt underneath his open dress shirt and blazer, and wears blue and white sneakers in place of dress shoes. Even by his own admittance Issei is an unintelligent and straightforward individual, with his tremendously perverted and lascivious nature being the greatest characteristic of his personality. Issei easily indulges in lewd fantasies, being obsessed with female breasts and a desire for a harem, traits he openly admits and makes no effort to hide, a characteristic that he is, in fact, proud of. This has caused him to be instantly labeled as a pervert among the girls of Kuoh Academy and has gained him notoriety for being one of the members of Kuoh Academy's Perverted Trio. Despite his pervertedness, Issei is courageous, selfless and unwaveringly determined to protect those who are important to him, despite almost dying by the hands of his opponents. Age 18 Dragon Shot (魔力弾ドラゴンショット, Doragon Shotto): One of Issei's signature moves, where he releases a beam of concentrated Demonic Power. It is often used in tandem with Boosted Gear to increase its destructive potential, once destroying a mountain. When enhanced by the Boosted Gear Scale Mail, Issei's Dragon Shot became powerful enough to casually "erase" a mountain, and when enraged it overwhelmed a full powered demonic power blast by Diodora, a High Class Devil enhanced by Ophis's snake. Issei can go into his limit break mode upgrading his strength with a crimson like dragon armor. Boosted Gear (赤龍帝の籠手ブーステッド・ギア, Būsuteddo Gia): Issei's Sacred Gear and main weapon, among all the original 13 Longinus, which holds the Welsh Dragon, Ddraig's soul, making it a Mid-Tier Longinus. A left-handed red gauntlet that doubles his powers every 10 seconds until he reach his limit, holding the potential to kill god if mastered. He later gained the ability to Transfer the multiplied power into a person or item, even parts like his eyes for enhanced vision. Issei later awakened Penetrate, letting him bypass all defenses (save the targets baseline physical durability) like Rizevim's Sacred Gear Canceler or barriers. He later developed a technique of applying Penetrate to his eyes to see through women's clothing. Dragon Aura: Due to possessing Boosted Gear, then having his left arm turned into a dragon, Issei has a small amount of dragon aura. Training with Tannin increased it, to the point of dealing minimal damage while using Boosted Gear. After gaining a new body, made from a combination of Great Red's flesh and Ophis' power, it became more natural, described as being dominant. Pailingual (乳語翻訳パイリンガル, Pairingaru): Issei's third signature move, which allows him to "talk" to women's breasts after creating a "space". As such, it is a useful move as it allows him to learn his opponents' plans by asking their breasts, however, complaints from females from other peerages caused Rias to ban it in Rating Games. Dress Break (洋服崩壊ドレス・ブレイク, Doresu Bureiku): Issei's second signature move, which he mainly uses against women. As its name suggests, this move allows him to "strip" woman by first coming into contact with them, concentrating his demonic power, then snapping his fingers to activate one of two effects. He can fly,has immense mobility,Speed,Strength and durability, and a expert close combatant and sword fighter. Rias Gremory is the main female protagonist of High School DxD. She loves Issei She is the Gremory Clan's heiress after her oldest brother, Sirzechs, took the position of Lucifer. Rias is the sole daughter and youngest child of Zeoticus and Venelana Gremory, the aunt of Millicas Gremory, and the maternal cousin of Sairaorg and Magdaran Bael. She became known as the Crimson-Haired Ruin Princess, because of the color of her hair and Power of Destruction. Now, Rias is a first-year College Student at Kuoh Academy, the former President of the Occult Research Club, and the school's Number-One Beauty, as well as one of Kuoh Academy's Two Great Ladies alongside Akeno Himejima. She is also one of Issei's fiancées. Rias is a beautiful young woman with a voluptuous body, white skin, blue eyes (blue-green in the anime, season 1-3) inherited from her father, Zeoticus, and a buxom figure. Her body measurements are [B99-W58-H90 cm] [B39-W23-H35 in]. Her body weight is [58 kg] [128 lbs]. Her most distinctive feature is her long, beautiful crimson hair, which she also inherited from her father, that reaches down to her thighs with a single hair strand (known in Japan as ahoge) sticking out from the top. Her hair also has loose bangs covering her forehead and side bangs framing her face. Rias' height is 172 cm. (5 feet 8 inches), making her one of the tallest female characters of the series. Although Rias has worn various types of clothing throughout the series, her most commonly worn outfit is the Kuoh Academy girls' school uniform, which consists of a white long-sleeved, button-down shirt (short sleeves for spring/summer), with a black ribbon on her shirt collar worn under a black shoulder cape and a matching button-down corset, a magenta skirt with white accents, and brown dress shoes over white crew-length socks. Rias also tends to wear seductive lingerie and thongs, especially when she has a desire to sleep with Issei. On some rare occasions, Rias wears glasses when she's deep in thought, as she feels they make her mind work better despite having perfect eyesight. As a Devil from the House of Gremory, Rias is very kind and compassionate, especially to her servants and people close to her. She gets angry and violent whenever people insult her or her peerage, showing a fiery side to her. This also plays into the fact that she dislikes cruelty towards people Power of Destruction (滅びの力, Horobi no Chikara): A unique demonic power, which allows her to erase nearly anything, such as matter, energy and even immaterial things such as souls. She would originally often release massive blasts to engulf and erase her targets, but Rias has improved her control over her Power of Destruction to the point of being able to compress it into softball-sized bullets and release them in quantities Kiba compared to a machine gun, which he noted that those without enough power would vanish from one of them. Extinguished Star (消滅の魔星イクスティングイッシュ・スター, Ikusutinguisshu Sutā): Rias' Ultimate One-Hit Kill Technique, developed from both her own training and the influence of draining Issei's dragon power on her demonic power. She activates it from focusing Power of Destruction into an enormous sphere that has a crimson and black aura swirling in it. Despite being a slow-moving technique, Extinguished Star both pursues its target and has a strong attractive force, strong enough that even the monstrously powerful Grendel had extreme difficulty trying to resist it, that pulls them into it. Its destructive power has been said to surpass the Rating Game's retiring system. Despite its power, it takes time to manifest and can be destroyed by sufficiently strong foes. Castling: Due to being the King of her own peerage, Rias has the ability to use Castling, which allows her to swap locations with one of her Rooks. She first used it during Nilrem's attack on Kuoh Academy, swapping places with one of her unused Rook pieces. Healing: Rias is capable of healing others using her demonic power, Akeno Himejima is one of the many female protagonists of High School DxD. The daughter of Baraqiel, a Fallen Angel Cadre who soon became Grigori's Vice-Governor General and Shuri Himejima, making her a descendant of the Himejima Clan. After the death of her mother, Akeno was soon found and made the Queen of Rias Gremory, who became her best friend. Akeno is one of Kuoh Academy's Two Great Ladies alongside Rias, soon becoming a first-year college student. She is also one of Issei's fiancées. Akeno is a beautiful young woman with a voluptuous figure, very long black hair and violet eyes. Her hair is usually tied in a very long ponytail, reaching all the way down to the floor with two strands sticking out from the top and sloping backward, with an orange ribbon keeping it in place. Like most of the girls at Kuoh Academy, she wears the customary Kuoh Academy girls' school uniform, along with black calf-length socks. As revealed in the visual book with her data her body measurements are [B102-W60-H89 cm] [B40-W24-H35 in]. Her body weight is [54 kg] [119 lbs] while her height is 168 cm (5 feet 6 inches). In the anime, during battles, she often transforms her clothes into a traditional miko attire, consisting of a white haori with red accents, a red hakama, and a pair of zōri with white tabi. After Akeno has revealed her Fallen Angel side in front of Issei, she has one Devil wing and one Fallen Angel wing. As the series progressed and she came to terms with her fallen angel powers, her wings increased to six, at first, because of the aid of Azazel's bracelets, then eight, resembling a High-Tier Fallen Angel. Personality Akeno is first seen to be a very elegant and gentle woman with refined lady etiquette, embodying the principals of the ideal Japanese woman: "Yamato Nadeshiko". However, underneath her calm, noble and dignified atmosphere, Akeno is shown to be highly sadistic in battle and doesn't show any mercy or remorse towards the enemies she slays, casually keeping up her smiling elegant persona over an enemy's death and showing an expression of pleasure and lust upon delivering them pain. Despite her sadism, Akeno is very kind, acknowledged by Rias and Issei. Before meeting Rias, Akeno would help people by purifying evil spirits for a living. As a result of seeing her mother being killed in front of her eyes and her father being unable to save her, Akeno developed a hatred for Fallen Angels, including a sense of self-loathing towards her own Fallen Angel nature, for it was the reason her beloved mother was killed by the Himejima Clan, which lead her to sever ties with her father, going into exile before being saved by Rias after Akeno's maternal relatives nearly killed her. Due to this reason, she empathizes with those who have suffered under the hands of Fallen Angels like Issei and Asia, who were manipulated and killed by the Fallen Angel Raynare, and was worried that Issei would dislike her due to her Fallen Angel nature. However, she fell in love with him after he told her that he still liked her. With Issei's help, she was able to overcome the sadness of her mother's death and reconcile with her estranged father, renewing their familial bond. Due to Issei helping her and Baraqiel in their reconciliation, Akeno's love for him deepened considerably as she confessed her feelings for him. While Akeno originally had no interest in dating men due to her past, she began to take an interest in Issei, thinking of him as a cute junior and that interest intensified after seeing his determination in the Rating Game against Riser Phenex and his actions during Rias' engagement ceremony, where he defeated Riser Phenex. She has stated that Issei is the first boy she has ever felt such feelings for as she is shown to have a desire to further her relationship with him. She also loves to tease Issei and Rias, as she loves to make Rias irritated by flirting with Issei stemming from her playful sadistic side. Akeno has also stated that she has some masochism in her as well, as she is only masochistic towards Issei in contrast to her sadistic nature in battle. She is shown to be quite vulgar, flirting with Issei as such and doesn't care if Rias knows or saw her doing the act as she tried to have sex with him while also trying to help Issei further his relationship with Rias, but does care enough to not steal him away from her as she even helped Issei confess to Rias. After falling in love with him, she becomes very seductive and is obsessed with having an affair with Issei whenever she finds a chance, which is often interrupted by Rias and some others. She also has a emotionally weak side to her once she removes her mask of being an Onee-Sama, what is left is her true side of "depending" on a man Akeno is still innocent and emotional towards love and acts like a girl her age whenever she is on a date with Issei. However, this still does not stop her from being seductive and flirting with Issei. Despite being seen as calm and clear, Akeno does get jealous like the other girls and will fight for Issei. Elemental Demonic Power: Akeno excels in using natural elements such as ice, fire, and water, but she specializes in lightning. She is able to create thunder clouds using her demonic power, making lightning bolts rain down on her opponents. She could freeze Cerberus' flames in an instant and target ice spears at her opponents. Much like her Holy Lightning Dragon, Akeno can also form Asian Dragons out of fire and ice, sending them at her enemies. Lightning Manipulation: Akeno originally specialized in lightning demonic power alone before she began using her Holy Lightning ability, where she imbues it with the power of light. Xenovia Quarta is one of the many female protagonists of High School DxD. She is a third-year high school student at Kuoh Academy in Class 3-B and is a natural-born Holy Sword user who wields the Durandal. After learning the truth of God's death in the war, she was excommunicated from the Church and decided to join the Occult Research Club as Rias' second Knight, alongside Yuuto. After Issei's promotion, she now serves under him as his first Knight and is also one of his fiancées. Xenovia is a beautiful young woman with chin-length, blue hair with a dyed green fringe on the right side and brown eyes (dark yellow in the anime, season 2-3). Her body measurements are [B87-W58-H88 cm] [B34-W23-H35 in], and her body weight is [56 kg] [123 lbs]. Xenovia's height 166 cm (5 feet 5 inches). Her battle attire is her Church battle suit, which consists of a black, skin-tight, short sleeve leotard with pauldrons, matching fingerless gloves that extend to her biceps, and thigh-high boots, all of which are adorned with straps. This attire is worn under a white hooded cloak with gold and blue accents. She also wears a crucifix around her neck, which was later removed after becoming a Devil. After joining Issei's peerage and during the Rating Games, Xenovia wears a uniform that consists of a red button top with a white tie and red shorts. She also wears a black waist cape as well as a purple cape over her left shoulder. Upon transferring to Kuoh Academy and joining the Occult Research Club, she wears the Kuoh Academy girls' uniform but without the cape. Personality When Xenovia was first introduced, she was shown to have a calm, quiet, and serious demeanor, putting her mission first and only speaking when necessary. She was also very cold, bordering on heartless, as she called Asia a witch for becoming a Devil (even though she became one unwillingly so she could be with Issei) and even went so far as to try and kill her. She later threatened to do the same to Kiba when he was technically a Stray. After being reborn as a Devil, however, she gains a very close relationship with Asia, being touched by her kindness and apologizes for calling her a witch when they first met. In battle, Xenovia appears to be a bit arrogant, stubborn, and rarely uses her head in attempting to overwhelm her opponents with pure power and strength instead of being subtle or using skills. According to Issei, her fighting style is comparable to that of a Rook despite being a Knight, referring to her as a "Power idiot". As Xenovia was raised in the Church, she lacks common knowledge on the life of a normal person, evident when she brought a box of condoms to school as well as wanting to give birth to strong children, and has chosen Issei as her mate. As the series progresses, it is shown that Xenovia has developed genuine romantic feelings towards Issei due to him protecting his comrades, even if he gets injured by doing so. As a result, she becomes more aggressive in seducing him, which proves that Xenovia is quite perverted as well, a fact that she is "cool" with. Demonic Power: Xenovia has all the powers and abilities common to Devils, including the power to cast spells. Natural-born Holy Sword Wielder: Xenovia is a natural-born holy sword wielder and capable of wielding any holy sword without artificial means like Irina. Even reincarnated as a Devil, Xenovia is still able to wield any holy sword without any issues. Enhanced Strength: Due to her years of training in the church, Xenovia gained superb arm strength, able to wield very heavy swords like Excalibur Destruction and Durandal with ease. After being reincarnated into a devil, her natural strength has been increased too. Enhanced Speed: Xenovia is able to move at superhuman speeds. She combines her speed with Durandal's destructive powers, making her a formidable fighter. Her speed is further enhanced by her Knight piece. However, Xenovia is considerably slower than Yuuto due to her being power-oriented as opposed to the technique-oriented Yuuto. When further combined with the Excalibur Rapidly, her speed is enhanced and she can move as fast as Masaomi. Immense Stamina: Xenovia has massive amounts of stamina and endurance. She was durable enough to confront Nero at the end of their match. She can still muster enough strength to use Cross Crisis enhanced by Crimson Destruction Dragonar. Master Swordswoman Durandal (デュランダル, Dyurandaru): Xenovia's main weapon, a unique-shaped single-edged blue broadsword that has a golden edge. It is a unique sword, to the point that it responds to the user, for her, Durandal releases a massive aura, which has destructive powers. Xenovia later learned that she can transfer Durandal's aura into another holy sword, as proven when she channeled its holy aura inside Ascalon. Excalibur's Scabbard (エクスカリバーの鞘, Ekusukaribā no Saya): The legendary Scabbard of Excalibur, which emits holy aura similar to a normal holy sword was originally sealed in an underground ruin. This makes Xenovia essentially immortal, healing wounds suffered from even a god-class being, however, this has its limits, but it allowed her to endure the light-based attacks of the Chief-God, Apollon despite being a devil and entrapped in a light cage. Age 18 Kuroka, later named Kuroka Toujou is a Nekoshou, a rare variant of Nekomata. She is the older sister of Koneko Toujou, making her the firstborn daughter of Fujimai and her human lover. After their parent's deaths, she and her sister were turned by the Naberius clan into reincarnated Devils. However, after killing her previous master to protect her sister, Kuroka became an SS-Class Devil, one of the most wanted criminals. Age 22 She soon became a member of the Vali Team, who were previously affiliated with the Khaos Brigade, upon joining the Team DxD, she was exonerated from her previous crimes because of her actions. She is also one of Issei's fiancees. After the defeat of the Alliance of Hell, she became Xenovia Quarta's Bishop. Kuroka is a beautiful young woman with a voluptuous figure, long black hair with split bangs, and hazel-gold eyes with cat-like pupils. Her body measurements are [B98-W57-H86 cm] [B39-W23-H35 in]; height is 161 cm (5 feet 3 inches) and body weight is [49 kg]. Her attire consists of a black kimono, a yellow obi, a set of golden beads, and an ornately detailed headband. The kimono features a red interior and it is open at her shoulders, giving view to her large breasts which rival those of Rias and Akeno in terms of size. In her Nekomata form, which she is in all the time, she grows a pair of black cat ears and two black tails. Personality At first, Kuroka was shown to be rather malicious, with her aura described as being more "outright evil" when compared to the "vice" of Azazel's. In the past, she was said to have murdered her previous master, as she was unable to gain control over her Senjutsu, and was driven mad as a result. This initially seemed true, with her first appearance having her declare her intention to kill Rias, Issei, and her sister after the latter refused her, and that was after using poison to weaken Koneko and Rias, all after commenting on her intention to use Koneko as "a piece under my control". However, she later claimed that vicious display was just her "going with the mood". Under normal circumstances, Kuroka is rather playful, nonchalant, and simple-minded, simply enjoying teasing people. She's rather vulgar, often using her beauty and sensuousness as a weapon among her arsenal of teasing others, most notably Issei. Fenrir once stated his belief that because of these traits she wastes her potential. Kuroka is also lustful and perverted as she enjoyed openly doing sexual things with Issei without restraint and is also proud of her sex appeal and breasts as she is offended when Bikou insulted her breasts. When Issei lost his perversion as a result of the Alphecca Tyrant, Kuroka was dismayed calling it a serious illness. Above all else, despite her mischievous nature, she can be a kind and compassionate woman who loves Koneko more than anything, wanting peace more than anyone. To raise Koneko after becoming orphans, Kuroka agreed to become a reincarnated Devil. She murdered her former Master to protect her younger sister from him, though it meant she'd become labeled as a criminal and continued to play that part. However, Kuroka often has a hard time showing this side of herself, often opting to tease her younger sister instead. She expressed an interest in having strong children, at first having propositioned Vali, but was rejected, then turning her attention to Issei, both of whom are the Heavenly Dragons' hosts. Her reason being because she wanted her species, the Nekoshou, to bloom once again, their kind being inherently rare. Before and after moving into the Hyoudou Residence, Kuroka is often described as a freeloader. Most of the time, she's seen playing video games and being a glutton, never assisting around the house and instead leaves that work to the others, unlike Le Fay. After being called out on this fact, Kuroka often offered Issei sex as a means of getting out of it. Like her sister Koneko, Kuroka is also shown to have a big appetite, as she would eat other people's snacks without asking and accompanied the Gremory group on their fishing trip solely to eat the fish they caught, claiming all the nutrients go to her breasts. Kuroka is the older sister of Koneko (then known as Shirone) who was born to a Nekoshou called Fujimai and a human researcher. After losing her parents, she and her sister were later taken in by an unnamed Devil from the branch family of the House of Naberius, and she was reincarnated as the Devil's Bishop using up two Evil Pieces. Demonic Power: As a Devil, Kuroka has all the common skills and powers of one, including the power to cast various spells. She primarily uses this in tandem with her Senjutsu and Youjutsu techniques. Koneko has stated that her power rivals that of an Ultimate-Class Devil and even with Tannin's help, it wouldn't be easy to capture her.[3] Immense Magic Power: As a Bishop who took two Bishop Pieces, Kuroka is able to enhance her magic and demonic powers to a greater extent than regular Bishops. Youjutsu Master: As a Nekoshou, she is highly talented in Youjutsu, being able to perform spells common among Youkai, whether for offense, defense, or support. She is skilled enough to instruct her younger sister in it, as well as effectively support her teammates in combat with her Youjutsu skills. A testament to this is the time, Kuroka could research and developed a Youjutsu poison powerful enough to affect Sun Wukong using his descendant as the test subject, causing irregular effects on Bikou with spells, curses, and medicines. Poison Mist: She can create a poisonous mist effective on Youkai and Devils, but Dragons and Dragons-based Sacred Gear users are immune to it. However, it's possible for Kuroka to strengthen and adapt her poison to affect particular beings, such as Sun Wukong through examining his descendant's constitution, being powerful enough to greatly weaken him despite brief exposure. Illusions: Kuroka is able to cast illusions such as creating mirage copies of herself to throw her opponents off. Senjutsu Master: Among her many talents, Kuroka became exceptional in Senjutsu, strengthening herself using Ki and sensing auras. She can control nature, turning the ground into mud to seal the movements of one of Fenrir's sons;[4] controlling the earth and plants, using them to attack.[5][6] She can combine Senjutsu and Youjutsu to release a concentrated energy blast. Touki (闘気, Fighting Spirit): Kuroka covers herself in an aura of ki, increasing her strength, defense, and speed. Kasha (火車, Burning Chariot): Kuroka can summon multiple big wheels that are covered in black flames. Stealth: Kuroka uses her Senjutsu to conceal her presence from other Devils by changing her ki flow. Master Magician: Being a Bishop worth two Bishop pieces, Kuroka has remarkable magic potential, abilities, and talent, letting her surpass her previous master in a short amount of time. She has shown to be skilled in Teleportation, Defensive, and Devil Magics, she could store objects such as the magical chains, Gleipnir inside of another dimension. Defensive Magic: Kuroka has shown the ability to create a sturdy defensive magic circle to protect the room that she and her comrades were staying in. Raynare was an attractive young woman with violet eyes, and a curvaceous, slender body. She had long, silky black hair that reached down to her wide plumped hips and possessed two black feathered wings characteristic of her race. Age 19 Raynare's height is 164 cm. (5'4"), according to the visual book with her data. Her attire consisted of a short black dress with a small, light purple jacket on top, which was worn throughout most of her appearances in both the light novel and manga. In the anime, she had a slender body with a large bust. Her initial attire (as Yuuma) was her school uniform, which consisted of a dark red jacket with the letter "P" embroidered in gold, a white undershirt, a red bow, and a green skirt with a thin white strip around the lower end. Upon the climax of her date with Issei, she shredded her clothing and changed into her alternate (and more common) form. In the process of transforming, she grew taller, taking on a more mature appearance, and her eyes changed, taking on a darker, narrower, and more evil look. Her clothing also changed dramatically, now consisting of black, strap-like objects (resembling leather) around and under her breasts, a thong-like piece held around her hips by three thin straps, gloves that ran right up her arms with small lengths of chains hanging from them, shoulder guard-like objects on her shoulders with three large spikes sprouting from her right shoulder, and black thigh-high heeled boots. Her voice also dropped to a lower pitch when in this form. This form is best described as a very erotic and revealing version of her disguise. Personality Raynare seemed like a sweet young school girl at first, but this was just a disguise to hide her true nature. Her true personality revealed that she was vicious, petty, sadistic, treacherous, vindictive, arrogant, cruel, barbaric, and very deceptive. This was most infamously shown when she successfully manipulated Issei Hyoudou's mind in order to get close to him and kill him. She also laughed cruelly at Issei, believing him to be "weak" and that it would be "a waste of her time killing him". This shows how Fallen Angels like her can manipulate the will of mere humans with ease. She is loyal to her superiors, Azazel and Shemhazai, and would go to great lengths for them. However her loyalty may come into question as she tends to take action without their consent, believing it's for the good of all Fallen Angels. She has often shown overconfidence and tends to look down anyone who is (in her mind) inferior to her, as well as torment and taunt them, such as when she mocks Asia's death in front of Issei out of spite and shows no remorse. Not much was known about Raynare's history, other than the fact that she was banished from Heaven for an offense of some sort. Shortly before the series began, Raynare came into contact with Freed and Asia, who became her subordinates. She was sent to eliminate Issei because of his Sacred Gear's dangerous potential. Then Raynare secretly gathered and led an independent group of Fallen Angels and Exorcists who assisted her in attempting to steal Asia's Sacred Gear; Twilight Healing, believing she was better suited for its powers, and could thus better serve her leaders. Powers & Abilities Light Power: As a Fallen Angel, Raynare has the ability to use Light Power to create various effects. Raynare claims that, while not flashy, her light is particularly lethal to Devils for her level, enough that it wouldn't be strange for Low-class Devils to die from blows to the legs by her spears, and that even Middle-class Devils would have a hard time healing from the wounds. Issei stated that it felt like his bones and muscles were "melting," even after he removed the weapon itself. Light-Based Weapons: Raynare could create and throw spears of light to kill Devils. However, unlike most Fallen Angels who wield only one light spear, Raynare was skilled enough to create several light spears at once. She could put enough power behind them to pierce the body of a Rook-promoted Low-class Devil such as Issei, who demonstrated enough durability to easily withstand bullets of light in that state not long before. Magic: She is shown to be at least knowledgeable in some magic. Memory Alteration: Raynare was also able to wipe the memories and all the records of her existence as Yuuma from all the students she has met with at Kuoh Academy. Cloth Manipulation: She has shown to change between her casual clothing and her revealing black leather attire.[note 1] Flight: Being a Fallen Angel, Raynare could fly using her wings. Enhanced Durability: Raynare took a boosted blow from an enraged, Rook-promoted (albeit pre-training) Issei, and while knocked unconscious, was easily reawakened not long after seemingly without any serious injuries. Enhanced Speed: Raynare was repeatedly able to gore Issei with her spears before he could react & at speeds he didn't notice her firing off the shot, before & after he became a devil. Equipment Twilight Healing (Temporary): After performing the ritual to extract Twilight Healing from Asia, Raynare gained her Sacred Gear thus allowing her to heal herself. After being defeated by Issei and killed by Rias, the Twilight Healing is retrieved by Rias and returned to Asia.
