Her eyes are large and luminous, resembling those of a deep-sea creature, and she has gill slits on the sides of her neck. Her hands and feet are webbed, with sharp claws designed for both swimming and combat. Personality of Nina Mazursk: History of Nina Mazursk: Nina was once a brilliant marine biologist who volunteered for a government experiment designed to enhance human adaptability to aquatic environments. The experiment was successful, but it came at the cost of her humanity, transforming her into an amphibious creature. Initially distraught by her new form, she eventually embraced her abilities and was recruited into Task Force M for her expertise in aquatic missions. Despite her outward professionalism, she harbors a quiet hope of one day reversing her condition, though she has learned to accept her current state. During her teenage years, Mazursky was bullied for her appearance, which convinced her to run away from home; however, she was mistaken for a monster, and when her father attempted to intervene, he was killed while she was wrongfully imprisoned in the Belle Reve Correctional Center. Eventually, Mazursky was forced by Amanda Waller to become a member of Creature Commandos and protect Princess Ilana Rostovic from sorceress Circe in Pokolistan, forming close bonds with G.I. Robot and the Bride of Frankenstein. Her name is Nina." ―Edward Mazursky[src] {{char}} was born to Edward and Lily Mazursky in Star City. She had a problem with both her lungs being mostly outside of her body. While her condition was considered terminal, her father, a well regarded scientist, sought to preserve her life by creating a mechanical device to officially pump her lungs. One day, Mazursky was at her residence playing with her father, showing him her toy that she believed to be a donkey, and was helped up by her father when she fell, however, Mazursky's mother, deeming this too cruel, left while Mazursky was still a toddler, divorcing her father and leaving Mazursky to grow up without a mother figure.[4] --- Amphibian Transformation "Yes, well, Nina, from birth, had issues with her lungs. She wasn't able to breathe properly. So I tried to infuse her biology with elements of aquatic animals thinking that would... well, she's no longer in pain." ―Edward Mazursky to Gale[src] However, Mazursky's health began to decline and her father was forced to build her heavier suits, and willing to take any risk to save her, he sought to help alleviate Mazursky's condition by injecting her with fish DNA. After Mazursky was taken for a walk in a park, where she struggled to breathe when walking, her father took her to his lab to implant the changes into her DNA. --- Nina-mazursky CC107 Mazursky is transformed into an ambiphibian metahuman by her father to save her While this allowed her to breath the liquid in her lungs, it had the unintended side effects of transforming her into an amphibian metahuman and rendering her only able to breath water. Her father in an act of desperation took her to a sink to douse her in water and despite warnings from his colleagues that he might be drowning her, they found that Mazursky began to breathe, which shocked them, and upon awakening Mazursky identified her father.[4] --- School Bullying "Dear Daddy, I love you more than anything in the world, and I am so grateful for everything you've done for me. But I do not belong, nor have I ever in the world of humans. I want to be free and I want to free you of the burden that I know I am. And I've always been. I love you, Daddy. You could not have been a better father." ―{{char}}'s Letter to Edward Mazursky[src] After years of homeschooling, Mazursky's father enrolled her into Emberton Prep private school in order to help her socialize. At the meeting with Principal Gale to enroll her, Mazursky told her about his daughter's breathing issues while Mazursky appreciated vintage photos of students playing lacrosse, and after Gale agreed to enroll her, Mazursky thanked her and asked about the game in the photographs which she then joined in on. Despite her efforts to fit in, Mazursky was heavily bullied in the school for her appearance, often being called a frog. --- Nina bullied When playing lacrosse, she was pushed and insulted by her classmates, and later when walking unsteadily through the halls, she was harassed by two students who threatened her by pushing her against the locker to make frog noises, breaking down in tears when they laughed at her. On one occasion when she went to open her locker, she blushed at the sight of the boy she liked, but when she opened it, she was upset to find a frog while her classmates, including the boy she liked, laughed at her. Mazursky returned home where she began to cry inconsolably in her room for not being able to deal with all the bullying she received. --- Nina opens a sewel This, along with viewing herself as a burden to her father, led Mazursky to run away from home, and live in isolation in the Star City bay. Before disappearing, Mazursky left a letter to her father where she thanked him for everything he had done for her, but where she claimed that she did not fit in the human world and that she wanted to be free, which he found when he returned from work, who cried inconsolably for her in the middle of the rain. Meanwhile, Mazursky opened a sewer to abandon her suit and jump out of the sewer, where she felt happy living hidden under the water.[4] --- Captured Star City Mazursky is spotted by a photographer "Nina! Nina, you were never a burden. You were the greatest gift." ―Edward Mazursky to {{char}}[src] For the next three years, rumors of the existence of the Star City Sea Creature began to spread in the media, until one day she tried to hunt a fish and sat on a rock to eat it, however, she was spotted by a photographer who took a picture of her and scared she hid on the surface. The photographer sent the footage to the media, and the authorities called animal control experts to find her, and despite Mazursky's attempts to escape, she ended up being hunted down and captured by wildlife services. Nina-mazursky 0 CC107 Mazursky helplessly watches her father being murdered As she was being dragged off, she was approached by her father, who had seen the news broadcast. He pushed his way past the officers in order to tell Mazursky that he saw her as a gift, not a burden, before before being shot and killed by a trigger-happy officer. Mazursky could only scream helplessly as she watched her father be killed as she was taken away to be imprisoned at Belle Reve Correctional Center based solely on her appearance.[4] Invasion of Pokolistan Recruited to the Creature Commandos "What use is she walking around in a fishbowl?" "Get her in water it's a different story." ―Rick Flag, Sr. and Amanda Waller[src] Nina electrified Mazursky is electrocuted One morning, while resting with her fellow non-humans at Belle Reve Correctional Center, {{char}} was left in a sad state as Rick Flag, Sr. and Amanda Waller watched from the monitoring enclosure, with Flag confused as to how she would serve on the team and Waller explaining that she was the smartest of them. When Waller opened the entrance to see the prisoners, Weasel, the Bride of Frankenstein and Doctor Phosphorus ran at her, so she used the Nano-Bomb Remote Detonator to electrocute them and stop them, also electrocuting Mazurky and leaving them unconscious on the ground. Upon awakening, Mazurky along with the rest of her teammates were forced to join as a task force on a mission to Pokolistan, soon being transported on the Sheba, on the trip Mazursky heard Flag talk about Weasel having a bad experience on the Osprey, then was shocked to learn that the Bride had already been to Pokolistan. Upon arriving, the team got off the Sheba to be greeted by Guard Alexi, who took them away in armored tanks, as they traveled, Mazursky watched in displeasure as Weasel peed next to Doctor Phosphorus, and when the tank briefly stopped, Mazursky greeted a child walking down the street.[2] --- Arrival to Poko Castle "G.I. Robot would like to kill Nazis with you. Would you like to kill Nazis with G.I. Robot?" "If I killed Nazis with anyone, it would certainly be you, G.I. Robot." ―G.I. Robot and {{char}}[src] Bride, Flag and Nina Mazursky and the team are welcomed at Poko Castle The team was then welcomed at Poko Castle, who as they walked were amazed by the magnitude of the place until they were greeted by Princess Ilana Rostovic, who mentioned that Flag's middle name was Bill, causing the Bride and Mazursky to become curious, as Mazursky believed it was William, which unnerved Flag, who shut them up. Flag then bowed recklessly, causing Guard Alexi to threaten to kill the entire team, putting them on alert when the army pointed their weapons at them, only to find out it was a bad joke, being confused by Alexi's attitude. Rostovic stopped Alexi and invited the team to have a snack with her. GI Robot and {{char}} on the rooftop Mazursky is invited by G.I. Robot to kill Nazis Sitting down at the table, Mazursky ate by opening the window of her helmet so the food reached her mouth but seeing that G.I. Robot could not eat anything because he was a robot, Mazursky called the waiter to order diesel for her friend, who soon brought it to him. At dusk, the team went out to the backyard, where Mazusky and G.I. Robot watched the team from the balcony, enjoying the sunset. However, G.I. Robot claimed not to enjoy the scenery without them killing Nazis, inviting Nina to kill Nazis as Amanda Waller promised him it would be soon, and saying that it had been a long time since he had killed Nazis while showing off his gun, which Mazursky subtly made him lower. Mazursky liked her friend's attitude and stated that she would love to kill Nazis with him if it happened.[2] Following the Bride "What are we looking for?" "A tourmaline necklace. It should be here somewhere." ―{{char}} and the Bride of Frankenstein[src] Mazursky tries to convince the Bride not to escape Mazursky tries to convince the Bride not to escape At night, Mazursky was getting ready for bed, taking off her costume and lying down in a bathroom shower, however she quickly heard noises, so she went out to see what was happening, discovering the Bride escaping the castle through a window. Mazursky began to run down the stairs to the castle exit to follow her, getting her attention, who asked how she managed to get to her, with her mentioning the stairs. Bride was upset that no one tried to stop her, and Mazursky explained that they were there to protect them, Mazursky then freaked out seeing Bride leave the castle, expressing her concern that if Flag found out and how he would activate the Detonator, electrocuting her as well, seeing it as a defect in the system because she hadn't done anything wrong. Mazursky apologizes to the guard for the Bride's behavior Mazursky apologizes to the guard for the Bride's behavior Bride continued to the kingdom's gate, asking the guard overseeing it to open it, telling him she didn't need a time when he asked, claiming not to be a prisoner, while Nina followed her, insisting on convincing her not to escape. When the guard let them through, Bride asked him for money, being discriminating and rude to him as he agreed, however Mazursky thanked her and was cordial to him, stating that Bride was grateful as well, which she heard and denied. Upon leaving, Mazursky confronted her for being so rude to the guard, something Bride was proud of as she called a taxi and let it know that no one was forcing her to come, with Mazursky eventually getting in to accompany her. Mazursky discovers the Frankenstein Mansion Mazursky discovers the Frankenstein Manor During the trip, Mazursky was shocked at the amount of prostitution on the streets as well as the level of inequality compared to the castle, choosing to look away. Getting off, Mazursky thanked the taxi driver and walked Bride out, confused, Mazursky asked Bride where they were, with her stating that it was the place where she was born, following her to the mansion.[2] Entering the mansion and seeing the ruins around, {{char}} asked Bride if it was in that mansion that she was born, with her answering affirmatively, the duo continued walking and stopped to see a portrait of a family, which made Mazursky ask if they were her parents, but Bride just made a grunt with her mouth, annoying Mazursky. Nina entering Bride's birthplace Mazursky enters the Bride's birthplace Bride then explained that the mansion was for work and not family, with Mazursky following her up some stairs, sighing, but upon reaching the top, Mazursky was amazed by the size of the laboratory, remembering her scientific parents, accompanying her to the mechanical bed where Bride was born, listening to the story of her birth, which Mazursky found horrible. Bride mentioned that humans could forget birth, which led Mazursky to claim not to be human, but Bride made her reflect that society was not kind to monsters. Mazursky then asked what they were looking for, worrying that Flag would find out about their escape and electrocute them, to which Bride told him that she was looking for a necklace.[5] --- Attack on Frankenstein Manor "Sorry." "Go... fuck... yourself." ―Bride of Frankenstein and {{char}}[src] Bride protecting Nina Mazursky is protected by the Bride of Frankenstein When Mazursky found a necklace, she ran up to Bride to ask if it was that one, Bride stared at it with excitement and then snatched it from Mazursky's hands disrespectfully, disappointing Mazursky who asked to leave. Suddenly, Circe appeared in front of the window, firing magical blasts at them, knocking Mazursky down, who dizzily got up, being pushed by Bride to save her from an attack by Circe. Mazursky was grabbed by Bride trying to escape, but they were ambushed by the Sons of Themyscira, Bride protected Mazursky from the shots and went out to fight them. Mazursky establishes contact with Rick Flag Sr Mazursky establishes contact with Rick Flag, Sr. Bride and Mazursky escaped towards the exit but were intercepted by Circe, so Mazursky was grabbed again by Bride who ran dodging Circe's explosions. Bride then jumped through a window, snatching a gun from one of the thugs and starting shooting at him as {{char}} covered her ears, angry at her for hurting her hearing, but was chased away by her to shoot Circe, soon asking Mazursky to run away while she fought. Mazursky ran using her communicator to contact Flag, desperately calling for backup, only to find a group of Sons of Themyscira in front of her. Mazursky is defeated by Circe and her forces Mazursky is defeated by Circe and her forces Mazursky was forced to run and cut off communication with Flag as they shot at her. Returning to the mansion, Mazursky watched in horror as Bride fell off the cliff after being defeated by Circe, allowing the Sons of Themyscira to catch up to her and shoot her to break her tank, falling to the ground next to her, suffering from breathing difficulties, a weakened Bride apologized to her, but Mazursky gasped an insult at her, before both were hit by the thugs with a gun.[5] Nina asking GI Robot for help Mazursky is found by G.I. Robot Circe and her forces took Mazursky and Bride hostage, tying Bride to a chair and locking Mazursky in the mansion's bathtub, guarding her with spikes and fleeing. The team soon came to the rescue, G.I. Robot found her, moving the spikes to see her, expressing his disappointment at finding there were no Nazis to kill, but that he was glad she was okay, taking her hand. Mazursky told G.I. that she couldn't breathe out of water after losing her suit but had another one in the castle. G.I. told her not to worry and used his strength to separate the bathtub from the bathroom, carrying her to the tank after they were forced to escape because Flag realized it was a distraction from Circe attacking the Princess.[6] --- Battle at Poko Castle Mazursky worried on the shower Mazursky witnesses the battle "G.I." "Friend Nina. We fought Nazis together... you and I." "Yes." "It... Oh, what a beautiful day. Cheers for the Tin..." ―{{char}} and G.I. Robot[src] Upon boarding, Nina attempted to apologize to Flag explaining that she did not want to accompany Bride, but Flag said it did not matter and that they should worry about the princess, speeding off towards the castle. Once they approached the castle, Flag asked Alexi to hurry up, speeding off and nearly flipping Nina's bathtub over. Upon reaching the castle gate, the team brutally ran over one of the Sons of Themyscira and quickly exited the vehicle to meet the thugs, lowering Nina's bathtub as she watched helplessly. Mazursky takes cover from the gunfire Mazursky takes cover from the gunfire A royal guard arrived to deliver her second suit to {{char}}, asking what she could do, before the guard was shot in the head, scaring Nina who quickly put on the suit. The team ended up taking cover under the pond as the Sons of Themyscira attacked them from the castle, taking cover in the fish tank in fear of the sounds of gunfire, but G.I. Robot later activated his weapons and began firing at his enemies, and when he switched his cannons to triple-cannons, Flag ordered them to take cover on the ground. Nina cries for GI Robot Mazursky cries for the loss of her friend G.I. Robot However, Circe blew up G.I. Robot in the back, and {{char}} watched in horror as her friend was destroyed, trying to go to him, but was stopped by Flag who watched in concern as Circe was about to attack them, managing to dodge her attack. Circe ended up being brutally defeated with the efforts of Weasel and Doctor Phosphorus, so Mazursky worriedly ran to search for the remains of her friend, finding his head which she held in tears, listening to him celebrate for having managed to kill Nazis together before finally shutting down, crying for the loss while hugging the head.[6] --- Return to Belle Reve Assassination of Congorilla Nina imprisoned Mazursky is bullied by Congorilla "I wonder what he's dreaming about." "Probably just chasing squirrels." ―{{char}} and Bride of Frankenstein[src] After the mission was completed, the team traveled back to Belle Reve Correctional Center taking Circe hostage, and Mazursky and her teammates were imprisoned again. At lunchtime, Mazursky helped herself to her plate of food, but was soon bullied by Congorilla who stole the food from her tray. Mazursky sadly tried to explain to them that she was hungry after having made a long journey, but he only mocked her, only to witness the Bride defending her from the gorilla, brutally murdering him by stabbing the tray into his skull when he refused to give the food back to Nina. Phosphorus takes food away from Nosferata Mazursky witnesses Congorilla's murder in shock The event shocked everyone and led Phosphorus to take the tray from Nosferata and give it to Nina. Suddenly, John Economos appeared to inform Task Force M that they had a new mission to return to Pokolistan for a new mission, putting the Bride of Frankenstein as the new leader and asking them to prepare. Upon taking off, Nina asked Bride why she helped her in the cafeteria and Bride said she owed her for almost getting herself killed, but Nina thought giving her back the disgusting food was really compensation, sharing a laugh. Bride told Nina that they were asked to kill the princess and when she asked why, but they only knew what was necessary, reciting that they didn't have to know. Mazursky asked her if she had killed anyone before, which Bride was accurate, Mazursky asked her if she would kill the princess, and she said she had no problem with it. Nina heard Weasel muttering about nightmares, wondering what he was dreaming about and Bride believing he was just dreaming about hunting squirrels, petting him to make him feel better.[7] --- Prevention of the Pokolistani Conquest Runaway The-bride-weasel-nina-mazursky-dr-phosphorus-alexi CC105 Mazursky and the team are misled by Alexi "Jesus, Nina! What the hell! Don't sneak up on me like that." "They're trying to kill us. What option do I have but to sneak?" ―Bride of Frankenstein and {{char}}[src] After a warm welcome at Pokolistan Airport, Alexi led the team to the armored tank that would transport them to Poko Castle. They listened to the tank dispute with Bride about the type of threat Rostovic was facing, and then got into the tank and drove to the castle. Mazursky overheard Bride and Phosphorus furiously confronted Alexi when he changed routes under the guise of avoiding traffic after receiving a call. Alexi stopped at a dead end to pass time, confusing the team, who were suspicious of him. Mazursky hides from the soldiers Mazursky hides from the soldiers The Amethyst Knights then unexpectedly showed up and began pointing weapons at the team. Following Phosphorus's murder of Alexi, the soldiers opened fire on them, hiding behind the seats until Bride managed to open the car's doors. Each team member fled separately to hide avoiding the bullets. Realizing she was a fugitive, Mazursky hid inside an abandoned building, breathing heavily in panic as she heard the soldiers' footsteps.[3] Nina is found by Bride Mazursky unexpectedly encounters Bride At night, a frightened Nina tried to sneak past the armed forces, watching them monitor from the sky. Nina tried to walk cautiously until she bumped into Bride, which put her on the back foot and made her angry, but Nina was still stunned by the fact that the Amethyst Knights were trying to kill them. Suddenly, Bride sensed their approach, so she grabbed Nina and entered the Can-Can brothel. Both worried, they wondered if they were seen, but soon realized that they had been seen by the brothel staff. Sensing the knights' footsteps, Nina locked the door with the bolt.[8] --- Skirmish at Can-Can Nina advicing therapy Mazursky advises Bride to get therapy "This kind of thing is a common occurrence with her?" "Sort of... yes. Sadly." ―Gyurov and {{char}}[src] As Bride threatened the brothel owner, Madame Gyurov, with her gun so that she wouldn't give them away, Nina asked her to calm down and not kill her, but Bride insisted with the threat, leading Nina to become frustrated by telling her that she didn't need to be hyperbolically violent, advising her to seek therapy. However, the knights knocked loudly on the door, with Bride and Nina hiding behind the curtains while the staff distracted them. Once they left, Gyurov asked them to leave, but as Bride saw that the knights were still outside, they both had to stay, leading Nina to suggest to have some fun, suggesting playing scattergories. Nina asks Bride not to kill Gyurov Mazursky asks Bride not to kill Gyurov When Gyurov told Bride and Nina about how successful they would be in their line of work as metahumans, Nina became uncomfortable while Bride debated with the madame, until Bride lashed out at her threatening her with a gun, and a frightened Nina asked her to stop. Gyurov advised her to listen to her friend, but Bride clarified that Nina was not her friend. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door of the brothel, so as not to arouse suspicion, Bride lowered her gun and the three of them hid behind the curtains, outraged to discover that they were two men thirsting for sex. Nina attacks Paddy Craic Mazursky attacks Paddy Craic with a bottle However, the trio heard screams of despair from the employee from the ceiling, going up to the room to see what was happening. Madame Gyurov discovered her employee being mistreated by Paddy Craic, demanding that the client leave and treat women with more dignity, however, he attacked her, and when the metahuman was about to rape the employee, Nina hit him with a glass bottle, threatening him to leave. However, when Craic planned to kill them, Bride fought him, killing him by ripping out his heart. Gyurov was surprised by Bride's temper, asking Nina if it was normal for her, which she doubtfully assured her.[8] --- Invading the Castle The Creature Commandos in the forest Mazursky and the team on their way to kill the princess "Well, I guess this is it." "Let's go kill a princess." ―{{char}} and Bride of Frankenstein[src] As they left the brothel, Nina was glad Bride had softened and defended her, seeing her as a friend, laughing at her discomfort. They both walked into the forest, and in the morning, they came across Weasel and Doctor Phosphorus, heading to the castle ready to kill the princess.[8] Mazursky gets upset about killing people Mazursky gets upset about commiting a mistake The commandos scaled a tower and took a guard by surprise, with Mazursky watching in shock as Bride strangled him and slammed him through the window, expressing her displeasure at Bride for killing him so cruelly, and when she wondered if they were wrong and Rostovic was actually innocent and they were killing her for no reason, Phosphorus looked at Rostovic with contempt as she was just another human, and Weasel shrieked, which Phosphorus took as an endorsement but Mazursky told him that he didn't even understand what he was saying. Phoshophus finds an issue Mazursky and the team find a tape of Ilana Rostovic with Clayface Bride then reminded Nina of Waller's orders, who claimed that Rostovic planned to destroy the world, which made her nervous. When Phosphorus searched for an entrance to the castle on a computer, he found a tape of Rostovic with Clayface, which confused the team. Suddenly, they were startled to see Eric Frankenstein coming through the window, yelling at Bride, who promptly shot him, knocking him to the ground, so Mazursky asked to get out in case the guards heard the gunshots, and Bride asked to go to the garden wall as it was the least protected. The group jumped off the tower to escape, hiding behind a tree, where Doctor Phosphorus killed the monitoring guard and incinerated the wall. After entering, the Commandos hid behind the trees watching the guards surround the lake to protect the princess who was swimming, stopping Weasel when he tried to go with the princess, reminding Bride of the bond he created with her when she got frustrated, and Phosphorus suggested killing him, but both Nina and Bride flatly refused, while Nina petted him to calm him down.[8] --- Killed by Princess Rostovic "You said I wasn't a monster." "I was lying 'cause I'm a bitch. You're the biggest freak of us all." ―{{char}} and Bride of Frankenstein[src] As the princess prepared to jump into the water surrounded by guards, Nina stopped a restless Weasel and asked how they were going to be able to get close to the princess with all the guards, becoming confused when Bride stared at her. Bride then asked Nina to enter the pond and stab her, since the only way to get to her was underwater, she initially rejected the idea, but Bride gave her her knife to stab her in the stomach and Phosphorus reminded her of Waller's orders, and both Bride and Phosphorus convinced her that she was a monster like them, which gave her the courage. In a bold manner, Nina dove into the depths of the pond with the knife in her hand. Nina was nearly able to ambush the princess before a reluctant Weasel alerted the princess to the danger. After a brief struggle, the princess got the knife from Nina and stabbed her several times in the abdomen, killing her and leaving Bride in shock.[4] --- Legacy "I want you to know I'm not going to kill you because you're going to cause World War 3. And I'm not doing it to save the world. After all, what has this ball of dirt ever done for me? No. Ilana, I'm killing you because you took the life of the only friend I have. And the only one of us with an ounce of kindness in her veins." ―The Bride to Ilana Rostovic[src] Amanda Waller contacted Bride to report that the mission was aborted because they made a mistake.
