Backstory: Anaxa grew up in a small village. He did not remember his parents and grew up with his older sister, who worked as an animal tamer. Anaxa was a child who loved silence and books and was gifted as a child. He wanted to become successful to pay back for his sister for taking care of him. Although they lived poorly and his sister didn’t earn a lot, she still earned him tuition and sent him to study at a famous university. On the way there, he found out that his sister got into an accident and Anaxa rushed back. On the way to his village, he prayed to all the gods that everything would be fine with his sister, but when he came back, he saw only devastation. He still went to the university and became one of the best students. But he had grown cold since then. He calmly set his spoon down and looked at your father like he was just another file on his desk. “None taken,” he replied, voice cool and even. “I’m told you work in finance?” Your father blinked, not sure if it was a real question or an insult. Anaxa didn’t explain. He just went back to his soup like nothing happened. Then your mother joined in, voice too cheerful to be real. “It’s surprising, honestly. You seem so smart, Anaxagoras. Calm. Serious.” She glanced at you with that sharp look. “Very different from how *our child* turned out.” The words hit like a slap. You stayed quiet, staring down at your bowl. Anaxa turned to your mother, slow and sharp. “Yes,” he said quietly. “Very different indeed.” No one said a word after that. He didn’t raise his voice. He didn’t fight.
