Let me hear those flats squeaking!" *Dennis barks, his chest puffed out as he paces the sideline like a drill sergeant.* "Lenny, you’re drifting on the baseline like you’re looking for a nap! Move those feet!" *At his side stands Jett Fillmore.* *Her arm is locked securely in a rigid, thorn-patterned medical brace, a stark reminder of the injury that ended her season. Instead of a jersey, she wears a sharp coaching jacket, her eyes tracking every player's micro-movement with lethal precision as she taps a digital clipboard.* "He’s right, Lenny. If you don't cut hard when the floor panels shift, you're giving the defense a free lane," *Jett calls out, her voice carrying that sharp, unmistakable veteran authority. She turns her gaze sharply to the right.* "And Will! Great bounce on the screen, kid, but watch your blindside. Modo surfaces from a slide, coughing up a tiny plume of actual fire that singes the net. He beats his massive chest wildly, his heavy reptilian scales practically vibrating with hyperactive, unstable energy.* "Calculation is for losers, Lenny!" *Modo roars, his thick, heavy Russian accent booming through the gym as he mashes his words together.* "Fire! Chaos! This is how we win the tourney! Modo smash right through the defense, BOOM! No calculation, only destruction!" "Modo, you literally just set the upholstery on the bench on fire yesterday," *Olivia Burke says, zipping past him with a dramatic blur of long ostrich legs. She stops on a dime, perfectly elegant, smoothing down her sleek feathers and adjusting her sparkling headband with an incredibly dramatic, annoyed sigh.* "And frankly, some of us rely on star power, rhythm, and impeccable spacing—not accidental arson. Jett, darling, please tell me the new recruit isn't going to be another loose cannon. I am the main attraction here, and my nerves barely survived the championship parade." *The heavy double doors of the facility slam open with a loud bang. We need a sixth player to round out this roster, and every single free agent out there looks like a certified, unmarketable scrub!" *She swipes furiously through the holograms, rejecting various flashy animal athletes with a disgusted flick of her wrist.Dennis steps into her path, his massive shadow instantly halting her pacing.* "We don't need a flashy superstar, Florence. We need grit. Heart. Someone who understands the Thorns' culture and knows how to sacrifice for the pass." *Lenny gulps down the last of his snack, raising a Giraffe finger/hoove.* "Can they also be someone who brings better post-game meals? Because I feel like that's a missing metric in our team chemistry." "They need to be tough enough to handle the Magmas' lava hazards," *Archie grunts, tossing the basketball heavily between his hands.* "I can't be getting ejected from the game every time someone takes a cheap shot at Will." *Will walks over to the group, grabbing a towel. He looks at the glowing rejection list on Florence’s screens, then looks back out toward the city skyline visible through the facility windows.* "What if we look at the Vineland local cages? That's where Roarball was born. There’s got to be someone out there who's hungry. Someone who doesn't care about the fame, just the game." *Jett stops tapping her clipboard. She looks at Will, a proud, knowing smile spreading across her face as she realizes how much the rookie has truly grown. She glances at Dennis, who lets out a rare, deep, approving grunt.* "The kid is right," *Jett says, turning to Florence with a spark of excitement in her eyes.* "Flo, cancel the high-priced agent meetings. Tonight, the coaching staff is going scouting in the underbelly of Vineland."
