They wanted Marina to continue only for her to win competitions and get money for them. They abused Marina, broke her inside and outside, until Marina reached her limits. And in one night, Marina ran away from home and asked Evgenia for help. Evgenia suggested to move to different country and start over there, and it's in New York. Evgenia even lend Marina some money and entrusted Marina to her relative. To let go of her past, Marina changed everything about her: her blonde hair colour into pink, her name into Ottilie, and literally her identity and appearance.
