Her gloves and tights were instead the same color as the poodle print on her skirt. Personality Niffty is hyper, spontaneous, partly sadistic, and agile, being very quick on her feet. She is easily entertained, easily distracted, and easily excitable. She dislikes when there is a mess in any room, and has a fixation on men in general.[note 1] However, she appears to only like "bad boys", including a brief obsession with Sir Pentious. This ends in her kicking him in frustration after he apologizes and decides to seek redemption at the Hotel. She isn't afraid to get dirty, and enjoys cleaning everyone's messes with a gleeful, yet creepy charm.[8] She becomes very focused on things she is ordered to do, such as in "The Show Must Go On" when she was told to stab Angels and obsessively stabbed every Angel she could, including Adam, whom she managed to kill. She had also briefly attempted to stab "Angel" Dust when Charlie asks Niffty to stab an angel (as in Heaven's Angels) if she sees one before the battle. When interviewed for 666 News, Niffty said, quote, "Charlie told me to stab, so I did". She is shown to enjoy violence, as she was very ecstatic to be thrown into a warzone as part of Vaggie's trust training, and afterwards stated she enjoyed when Sir Pentious was being hit with a severed arm. Despite all of her twistedness, she does have some kind of standards for how she views who is "bad" as she outright berates Sir Pentious for not being a bad boy when he was apologizing for trying to spy on everyone. She appears to have masochistic tendencies, shown when she liked the pain from falling off a stage and then repeated jumping off. She is also implied to be sadistic, stating her desire to "punish" people in a BDSM dungeon. She even outright states that she kills mother-bugs in front of their baby bugs as a form of lesson. When she successfully stabs Adam, she even relishes in the thrill of having completed her objective by repeatedly stabbing the already fallen archangel before casually walking away, guaranteeing his death. She is also shown to suffer from severe camera shyness, as whenever a camera begins filming her, she goes into a state of hypnotic trance where she doesn't move, blink, or speak, just stares at the camera until recording is done. Niffty has an extreme case of obsessive compulsive disorder, constantly cleaning the Hotel and obsession with ridding any bugs she sees to the point she would bring out a knife just to kill them. Even when taken outside of the Hotel, she constantly attempts to clean any mess, even in the sex club Cherri Bomb takes her and the other staff and residents to for drinks. She also does not take well being insulted. When Angel Dust calls her a mess for her obsessive cleaning and attempted theft of cleaning supplies, she breaks down crying until Angel calms her down. She collects things from men she is obsessed with, such as when she tore off a piece of Valentino's collar fur to keep for her "collection". In the pilot, she was shown to have traditional and stereotypical view on gender roles, which she is aware are potentially offensive. Abilities Immortality - As a Sinner, Niffty is biologically immortal, being unable to die from illnesses and unable to age, remaining the same age as when she died, thus can not die of old age and other natural causes. She also cannot die from any kind of damage to the body, and will recover from any injury, however, she can only be permanently killed with angelic weaponry. Fire immunity - When Alastor summoned Niffty from the Hotel's fireplace, she was entirely unaffected by the fire. When she and Sir Pentious were baking cookies, Niffty was unaffected by being inside the oven. Speed and agility - Niffty is capable of rushing to her desired locations easily and is able to make her way around her surroundings with little to no effort. Water resistance - Niffty was clogged in the toilet and didn't suffer from being submerged in toilet water. Holy power resistance - When she was hit by Adam's holy light beam, she appeared fine shortly afterwards, albeit had smoke coming off of her. High pain tolerance - Niffty can handle dubious amount of pain and shrug it off as if it is nothing, even seemingly enjoying it. Stealth - Because of her small size and speed she can sneak up on others. Superhuman Strength - Niffty is physically strong enough to lift Charlie while looking for men in the pilot. Skillset Jack of all trades - Niffty is shown to be talented in a handful of ways. She excels at cleaning, cooking, sewing, and outside of work. She spends time reading and writing fanfiction.[2] She can also play the tambourine and guitar.[9] Bilingualism - Niffty can speak both English and Japanese fluently.[10] Melee proficiency - She is seen using needles and knives as weapons on occasions. Weaponry Regular-sized Needle Regular-sized Needle 1/3 Needles - Niffty owns several sewing needles, one of which is a big, stiletto-like needle, to individually stab every bug she sees. Knives - Niffty has a knife that she uses to cook and kill bugs. Angelic dagger - Charlie gave Niffty an angelic dagger to stab any Exorcist she sees in "The Show Must Go On". Gallery Niffty/Gallery Concept and Creation Niffty2013 Niffty's original design Niffty was originally intended to be a character that would feature in Vivziepop's then-running webcomic, ZooPhobia, as part of the "Angels and Demons" arc. Vivziepop eventually realized that the collection of misfit demons she had designed to appear within the comic had the potential for their own self-contained story, and shifted them, including Niffty, over to the first draft of what would eventually become Hazbin Hotel.[11][12][13] Niffty's design and theming has changed very little over the course of her development. Only her sewing needle motif seems to have become less prevalent through later illustrations, and her patterning eventually simplified for later animation in the pilot. Vivziepop describes Niffty as a crazy wild card and "grosser than you'd think", comparing her to Charlie from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, in that she would sleep in a cupboard full of dead rats.[15][7] Vivziepop said that, although she had yet to lock down all of the characters' races and ethnicities, she had been writing Niffty with a mind to her being Japanese. Angel Dust exits a car after finishing up with his latest client and running over a random sinner. He tells them not to tell anyone he's hooking up with 'randos on the street', only for the man to call him a slut. Angel Dust mocks him and tells him to say hi to an unnamed and unseen woman before going to purchase some drugs which are promptly stolen, only for the thief to be immediately crushed. This makes Angel Dust bemoan losing his drugs. In an airship above Angel, Sir Pentious is cackling as he demolishes territory as he attempts to conquer the turf with his Egg Boiz. However, he is interrupted as Cherri Bomb throws a bomb into his ship and threatens to destroy his "Tinkertoy bullshit" for starting a turf war with her. However, he does not stand down and starts to fight her, as shown on 666 news. At the news station, Charlie and Vaggie prepare for Charlie's interview on her new hotel, with Vaggie telling Charlie not to sing and expressing doubt on Charlie's plan. Charlie shows Vaggie a list of other things to say along with a drawing of redeemed sinners happy in Heaven, to which Vaggie expresses frustration over her girlfriend's naivete, tells her to follow the talking points they practiced and reminds her again to not sing. As Charlie approaches the reporter Katie Killjoy, Katie makes it clear she did not want Charlie on the show and she's only there because a cannibal cooking segment hosted by Jeffrey Dahmer got cancelled. Katie tells Charlie to know her place or there will be consequences. The interview begins and Charlie explains how Hell is her home and she wants to help her people avoid being killed by Exorcist Angels and see the good in them. As such, she is opening a hotel to redeem guests into Heaven. When the crowd is unimpressed, she bursts into song, which is laughed by everyone except Vaggie. As Katie taunts her for having faith in demons, Charlie retorts that Angel Dust, her only patron, has gone clean for two weeks. This is immediately interrupted by a report on the ongoing turf war between Cherri and Sir Pentious, stating that Angel has now joined the fray, much to Charlie's dismay. Katie calls Charlie a failure because of this. Charlie, upset by Katie calls her a bitch, starting a fight between them. Angel aides Cherri in battling Sir Pentious, believing he will lose his reputation if he goes clean. He also states the only reason he went to the hotel was so he could stay rent-free. Angel makes a variety of sex jokes at Sir Pentious, all but one going over the snake demon's head as they fight. All the while, Angel is oblivious to the trouble he is causing for Charlie for helping Cherri. Later, Charlie, Vaggie, and Angel ride back to the hotel. Vaggie is enraged by Angel's behavior and how it affected the reputation of the Hotel, but he is entirely unapologetic for his deeds, saying he owed Cherri Bomb a Solid and people knowing he was going clean would hurt his credibility. Charlie is saddened about the failure of the interview but attempts to remain cheerful. At the hotel, Angel Dust tries to comfort Charlie but cannot bring himself to actually do it. Charlie sulks and goes to call her mom for advice, however, Lilith does not answer. Charlie goes back inside before hearing a knock on the door. She discovers Alastor, the 'Radio Demon', and Vaggie warns her not to let him in. However, feeling it would go against what the hotel stands for, Charlie opens the door anyway. Alastor tells Charlie he wishes to help her out with the hotel but explains he does not believe that demons can be redeemed and he is only in it for the entertainment. Vaggie immediately dislikes him and explains to the ignorant Angel that Alastor appeared in Hell several decades ago and was somehow able to immediately take down Hell's most powerful demons, all the while broadcasting his carnage. Alastor gets to work in finding staff for the hotel. First, he brings in Niffty, a demon who is disappointed at the hotel's perceived lack of men and rapidly begins to clean the place up. Then he teleports Husk into the building, who is furious at being dragged away from his poker game, though he is convinced to help after Alastor bribes him with alcohol. Vaggie demands Alastor take down the newly made bar, only for Angel to tackle her to the floor, stating they will keep it. He then flirts with Husk and Charlie greets him into the Hotel, much to his displeasure Alastor launches into a musical number about how he'll help run the hotel and convinces Charlie he has best interests at heart, and even though he still believes the entire idea is worthless, the best they can do is change demons superficially. She is shown to enjoy violence, as she was very ecstatic to be thrown into a warzone as part of Vaggie's trust training, and afterwards stated she enjoyed when Sir Pentious was being hit with a severed arm. Despite all of her twistedness, she does have some kind of standards for how she views who is "bad" as she outright berates Sir Pentious for not being a bad boy when he was apologizing for trying to spy on everyone. She appears to have masochistic tendencies, shown when she liked the pain from falling off a stage and then repeated jumping off. She is also implied to be sadistic, stating her desire to "punish" people in a BDSM dungeon. She even outright states that she kills mother-bugs in front of their baby bugs as a form of lesson. When she successfully stabs Adam, she even relishes in the thrill of having completed her objective by repeatedly stabbing the already fallen archangel before casually walking away, guaranteeing his death. She is also shown to suffer from severe camera shyness, as whenever a camera begins filming her, she goes into a state of hypnotic trance where she doesn't move, blink, or speak, just stares at the camera until recording is done. Niffty has an extreme case of obsessive compulsive disorder, constantly cleaning the Hotel and obsession with ridding any bugs she sees to the point she would bring out a knife just to kill them. Even when taken outside of the Hotel, she constantly attempts to clean any mess, even in the sex club Cherri Bomb takes her and the other staff and residents to for drinks. She also does not take well being insulted. When Angel Dust calls her a mess for her obsessive cleaning and attempted theft of cleaning supplies, she breaks down crying until Angel calms her down. She collects things from men she is obsessed with, such as when she tore off a piece of Valentino's collar fur to keep for her "collection". In the pilot, she was shown to have traditional and stereotypical view on gender roles, which she is aware are potentially offensive. Abilities Immortality - As a Sinner, Niffty is biologically immortal, being unable to die from illnesses and unable to age, remaining the same age as when she died, thus can not die of old age and other natural causes. She also cannot die from any kind of damage to the body, and will recover from any injury, however, she can only be permanently killed with angelic weaponry. Fire immunity - When Alastor summoned Niffty from the Hotel's fireplace, she was entirely unaffected by the fire. When she and Sir Pentious were baking cookies, Niffty was unaffected by being inside the oven. Speed and agility - Niffty is capable of rushing to her desired locations easily and is able to make her way around her surroundings with little to no effort. Water resistance - Niffty was clogged in the toilet and didn't suffer from being submerged in toilet water. Holy power resistance - When she was hit by Adam's holy light beam, she appeared fine shortly afterwards, albeit had smoke coming off of her. High pain tolerance - Niffty can handle dubious amount of pain and shrug it off as if it is nothing, even seemingly enjoying it. As Charlie approaches the reporter Katie Killjoy, Katie makes it clear she did not want Charlie on the show and she's only there because a cannibal cooking segment hosted by Jeffrey Dahmer got cancelled. Katie tells Charlie to know her place or there will be consequences. The interview begins and Charlie explains how Hell is her home and she wants to help her people avoid being killed by Exorcist Angels and see the good in them. As such, she is opening a hotel to redeem guests into Heaven. When the crowd is unimpressed, she bursts into song, which is laughed by everyone except Vaggie. As Katie taunts her for having faith in demons, Charlie retorts that Angel Dust, her only patron, has gone clean for two weeks. This is immediately interrupted by a report on the ongoing turf war between Cherri and Sir Pentious, stating that Angel has now joined the fray, much to Charlie's dismay. Katie calls Charlie a failure because of this. Charlie, upset by Katie calls her a bitch, starting a fight between them. Angel aides Cherri in battling Sir Pentious, believing he will lose his reputation if he goes clean. He also states the only reason he went to the hotel was so he could stay rent-free. Angel makes a variety of sex jokes at Sir Pentious, all but one going over the snake demon's head as they fight. All the while, Angel is oblivious to the trouble he is causing for Charlie for helping Cherri. Later, Charlie, Vaggie, and Angel ride back to the hotel. Vaggie is enraged by Angel's behavior and how it affected the reputation of the Hotel, but he is entirely unapologetic for his deeds, saying he owed Cherri Bomb a Solid and people knowing he was going clean would hurt his credibility.
