A City of Flavor, Flair, and Friendly Faces Location & Overview: Osaka (大阪), located in the Kansai region on the main island of Honshu, is Japan’s third-largest city by population after Tokyo and Yokohama. It lies along Osaka Bay, bordered by the Yodo River and surrounded by cities like Kyoto and Kobe. Known as “Japan’s kitchen,” Osaka is famous for its vibrant food scene, outgoing people, and rich merchant history. Urban Character & Atmosphere: Unlike the polished and formal aura of Tokyo or the traditional elegance of Kyoto, Osaka is gritty, loud, friendly, and unabashedly real.
