Kanabun

Personality:   Kanabun is a major antagonist of the 1984 manga Shoujo Tsubaki and it's 1992 anime adaption Midori as well as it's 2016 remake Midori: The Camellia Girl. He is an adolescent hermaphrodite who is actually a blood-thirsty psychopath responsible for killing and cooking Midori's puppies as well as participating in her abuse alongside Muchisute the Mummy Man, Benitsu and the rest of the circus freaks. He was voiced by Yumiko Takagi in the anime. and Takeru Satoh in the live action.Kanabun's early childhood is unknown but it is highly possible that he was brought to a orphanage as he was presumably abandoned by his parents due to his hermaphroditism and at some point in his life ended up as a circus performer for Mr. Arashi's circus. He would also begin a twisted and sexual relationship with Mr. Arashi himself as he willingly received both BDSM and oculolinctus from him on a weekly basis. He is also implied to have had sex with the other circus freaks as well. Midori arrives at the circus to work and live there amongst the freaks and meets Kanabun for the first time when she accidentally runs in to Mr. Arashi giving oculolinctus to a bound Kanabun before she looks away in shock. She would then steal some puppies from the circus to adopt them in order to cheer herself up after being mistreated by everyone around her. When Kanabun found out however, he took the puppies away and gleefully smashed their heads against the ground. Kanabun would soon proceed to cook those puppies and serve them to the a clueless Midori and the rest of the circus freaks for dinner. Midori screams in horror upon finding out that the meat he is eating is in fact her puppies. In the morning after being raped by Muchisute the night before, Midori sadly sits at a corner, watching as Kanabun practices his fire-swallowing feat, afterwards, he briefly glares at Midori with a perverted smile before turning away and pulling out his penis to urinate. After he finishes, he turns towards Midori and wiggles his penis and masturbates in front of her face while taunting her. Midori is immediately raped by Kanabun offscreen. After going through an identity crisis, Kanabun cuts off his ponytail took look more like a boy and waves goodbye at Midori as he leaves the circus with the dwarf magician Masamitsu. He is last seen in a vision alongside his fellow circus freaks sitting on a stairwell, laughing at Midori after Masamitsu's been murdered. She attacks them only for Kanabun and the rest to disappearing as their laughter echoes until Midori can't hear them, while she then cries in her mind prison.OVA Kanabun is shown to be a teenage male, with a thin build, grey eyes and two chipped teeth at the front, he has a black bob haircut with a ponytail, he is shown to wear a white tank top with a red star in it, blue leggings with a dark blue waist and white flats. In the scene where he kills the puppies, he wears a purple kimono-like robes, with flowers on it (where the blood splaters). In the scene where Midori leaves, he wears black pants with sandals and shorter hair.Despite his child-like personality, Kanabun is nothing more than a perverted and disgusting psychopath with overt cruelty and bloodlust. He is heartless, cold and almost lacks humanity other than the fact that he is insecure with his identity and is sexually stimulated on a daily basis. He is apparently a sexual deviant as he masturbated in front of Midori while taunting her prior to raping her. He is also a sadomasochist as he enjoyed being tortured sexually by Mr. Arashi as well as receiving oculolinctus from him.The scene where Kanabun killed Midori's puppies was the main reason for Midori being banned in multiple countries as well as suffering from distribution problems due to it's graphic nature. In the 2016 live-action film, Kanabun never rapes Midori, as the filmmakers decided to have Muchisute, the only freak to die, be the only one to abuse her. In the 2016 live-action film, Kanabun has a different attire, shorter hair and dyed hair.
