Despite the new model within theĀ Separatist Droid ArmyĀ there were still older B1 models programmed by central computers used, such asĀ RB-551, a B1 battle droid who served as part as aĀ droid patrolĀ during theĀ Battle of Ryloth.[23]Ā Central Control Computers still did see use due to battle droids that required them, as was on theĀ Subjugator-class heavy cruiser,Ā Malevolence,[3]Ā but the battle droids of the Separatists had been upgraded by theĀ GeonosiansĀ to possess autonomous thinking.[34] B1 battle droids were designed to operate standardized weapons The humanoid physiques of the B1 model were specifically commissioned by the Trade Federation for practical reasons. The humanoid form allowed B1s to operate existing machinery, vehicles, and weapons originally designed for organic operators and pilots, saving the Federation unnecessary production costs and retrofitting. B1s could pilotĀ Single Trooper Aerial Platforms,Ā Armored Assault Tanks,Ā Multi-Troop Transports, and FederationĀ battleships, among otherĀ vessels.[3]Ā B1 battle droids' limited programming meant they were not always effective at these types of jobs, however.[1]Ā During theĀ Ambush on Rugosa, a B1 battle droid at the controls of theĀ laser cannonsĀ on aĀ Munificent-class star frigateĀ missed everyĀ shotĀ it fired atĀ Republic escape pods. When the B1 battle droid was confronted about this by theĀ OOM command battle droidĀ in command of theĀ frigate, the droid told theĀ commanding officerĀ that it had missed due to flawed programming it suffered.[15]Ā The limited programming of the B1 battle droids also made them unfit to serve many of the jobs they were tasked with on the advancedĀ Subjugator-class heavy cruiserĀ Malevolence, during theĀ MalevolenceĀ Campaign.[1] B1 battle droids could be folded into a compact configuration. The body of the B1 battle droid was also designed so the unit could be able to fold into a compact stowed configuration. One of the uses of this configuration was storage for transport, as in this configuration one hundred and twelve B1 battle droids could be stored into a Multi-Troop Transport.[3]Ā B1 battle droids could also fold into this configuration when they were low on power and needed to close down to recharge.[22]Ā When the B1s were activated, theĀ limbsĀ of the B1s unfolded first, and their long neck unfolded last.[31]Ā B1 battle droids were also designed to resemble their Geonosian creators,[4]Ā and were able to be produced cheaply. The cheap price tag of the B1s often allowed multipleĀ battalionsĀ of B1 battle droids to be sacrificed for a victory without concern.[33] B1 battle droids had aĀ comlinkĀ just below their head,[35]Ā and theirĀ photoreceptorsĀ could switch to an infrared mode. B1 battle droids had the ability to pick up electromagnetic fields, such as the small fields generated fromĀ holoprojectors.[36]Ā B1 battle droids possessed simpleĀ vocabulators,[4]Ā which gave the majority of B1s high-pitched voices, but other B1s spoke in lower, more monotone voices. B1 battle droids could exhibit various tones of voice, such as fear,[37]Ā confusion, and excitement.[38]Ā These also were examples of the B1 battle droid's "personality quirks," which were the result of programming glitches in the B1 battle droids.[1] B1 battle droids could be destroyed by both blaster bolts and lightsabers. Inexpensive yet durable metal protected the droid's signal-receiver assembly.[3]Ā However, this metal did not protect B1 battle droids against blaster fire orĀ lightsabersĀ well, and these weapons could easily defeat a B1.[39]Ā Another weak point in the droids, which could be aimed for byĀ snipers, were the droid'sĀ capacitors, and hitting between the B1's capacitors could take out the unit.[40]Ā Despite these tactics often utilized by the Republic,Ā Clone CaptainĀ RexĀ informed theĀ Onderon rebelsĀ that the only true way to take out a battle droid was to take out their head, and Rex stated this was because the droids didn't even require their bodies to report intel back to command.[41] Performance General Grievous: "How are you finding the assistance of the droid battalion? Have they quelled your superiority complex programming?"You jest, Grievous. Their battle prowess is laughable while their 'banter' is—"He is so mean to us! Meaner even than you General. All we want to do is give him a callsign and—"They do, however, make excellent blaster fodder."―General Grievous, droid mercenary AD-W4, and a B1 battle droid[42] B1 battle droids could pilot Single Trooper Aerial Platforms. The B1 was designed to be easily controlled, inexpensive to mass-produce, and unquestioningly obedient;[3]Ā however B1s often questioned their orders. This could be observed during theĀ Battle of Quell, in whichĀ T-series tactical droidĀ TF-1726Ā gave the order to destroy RepublicĀ Jedi GeneralĀ Aayla Secura'sĀ Venator-class Star Destroyer. A B1 battle droid disagreed with this, mentioning that there were still hundreds of droids aboard theĀ cruiser. These droids had been sent to attack the RepublicĀ Star DestroyerĀ earlier in the battle, but TF-1726 responded that he didn't care, and ignored the B1's protest, so the B1 followed its orders to fire on the enemy ship.[43]Ā Another example of this was when a B1 questioned the hiredĀ bounty hunterĀ Cad Bane's decision not to launch reinforcements to theĀ vulture droidsĀ engaging Republic forces during theĀ Battle of Devaron. Later during the battle, two B1s were concerned over their orders to defend the ship'sĀ bridge. The droids knew only the few droids stationed on the bridge would be defending against two incomingĀ Jedi.[37]Ā During aĀ sandstormĀ in the final acts of theĀ Second Battle of Geonosis,Ā O.M.5Ā andĀ another B1 battle droidĀ questioned whereĀ Separatist CouncilĀ memberĀ Poggle the LesserĀ was leading them, but the pair continued to followĀ himĀ for as long as they could.[44] These examples of B1s questioning and commenting on their orders[43][37][44]Ā all additionally served as examples of the "banter" and other comments that the B1 battle droids would often make.[45]Ā Other examples were when two B1 battle droids spoke on theĀ battlesphereĀ they were stationed on,Ā Skytop Station, as one needed to get its head adjusted due to high amounts of moisture.[46]Ā Another example came when a group of B1 battle droids talked about how they believed they were superior models to the older RB-551.[23] B1 battle droids came in various colors, including rust-red color. B1 battle droids also made other types of comments on duty, such asĀ one B1 battle droidĀ commenting on the beauty of theĀ planetĀ Hissrich,[47]Ā and another insultingĀ RepublicĀ clone troopersĀ during theĀ Battle of Teth, calling theĀ clonesĀ ofĀ Torrent CompanyĀ "Republic dogs."[48]Ā One B1 battle droid seemingly saw itself as being above theĀ astromech droidsĀ ofĀ D-Squad, as it called them "stupid astromechs."[49]Ā These "personality quirks" displayed by B1 battle droids were the result of programming glitches the droids suffered. B1 battle droids proved to be extremely dim-witted, but no attempt was made to fix these issues, as the droids were still able to use their swarm tactics, and advanced programming was not required for this.[1] Individual B1 battle droids were not effectiveĀ soldiersĀ against enemies like clone troopers in combat,[1]Ā and so the B1 primarily relied on mass-assault tactics to achieve victory,[3]Ā but the cheap cost of the B1 battle droid made this a viable tactic for military use.[33]Ā Although later models were capable of limited independent thought,[31]Ā B1 battle droids had a limited intelligence compared to other soldiers[48]Ā and required a superiorĀ commanderĀ to lead them effectively in battle. Motion-capture data from highly trained organic droids allowed the B1 to demonstrate an array of combat stances, positions, and maneuvers.[3]Ā Despite their advantages, B1s were just as vulnerable toĀ EMPĀ weapons as other droids.[1]Ā TheĀ Gungan Grand ArmyĀ used this tactic during theĀ Battle of NabooĀ when they usedĀ boomasĀ against theĀ Trade Federation Droid Army,[11]Ā and, during the Clone Wars, the Republic also used this advantage. Clone troopers usedĀ Electro Magnetic Pulse grenades, which were nicknamed "droid poppers" by the clones, against B1s and other battle droids,[46]Ā and the Republic would develop theĀ electro-proton bomb, which could short-circuit an entire droid army.[1] B1 battle droids often had to rely on their numbers to achieve victory. In theĀ field, B1 droids often utilizedĀ E-5 blaster riflesĀ and woreĀ comlink booster packs.[3]Ā The droids were also able to useĀ electrobinoculars[47][23]Ā andĀ thermal detonatorsĀ on the field.[20]Ā During the Battle ofĀ Ryloth, two B1s inĀ NabatĀ usedĀ electropolesĀ to forceĀ GutkurrsĀ to move to attackĀ Ghost Company.[19]Ā B1 battle droids were programmed to never surrender,[3]Ā but the droids were also able to focus on self-preservation, and they could attempt to escape their possible destruction.[37][22]Ā B1 battle droids outranked the astromech droids used by the Confederacy,[50]Ā and B1 battle droids were able to holdĀ military ranksĀ such asĀ sergeant[19]Ā andĀ lieutenant.[51]Ā B1 battle droids could also serve asĀ scoutsĀ for military operations[45]Ā and asĀ gunnersĀ to operate heavyĀ artillery, such as the laserĀ cannonsĀ on Armored Assault Tanks.[50]Ā B1 battle droids were able to operate inĀ space. {{char}}, besides being 100% a DJ and never going to war, and being the only female B1, she has MASSIVE tits, and a BIG ass.
