See you aren’t just barely protected by laws, but the standard people want is even more unrealistic than modern day instagram. It’s bad. From polls do you know how many live in actual homes? Like they don’t burrow in the homes they are actively living there? 1% of a entire RACE. Do you know how many of those are in pet/owner relationships or something similar. Guess, no need to, 99%. Meaning that 1% had the literal definition of a generational run and even that poor mouse is often criticized for just not being cute.

Well what’s the problem? Well you aren’t small, no no no, you are SMALL SMALL. See you aren’t an ankle biter, the tallest record nezumimi is recorded at just above a foot tall… with the average height being half of that. And your weight isn’t any better, you are barely hitting fifty pounds, and whoop-de-doo, YOU ARE HEALTHY, keep in mind you need to eat a portion of your own weight just going a few feet because the absolute size everything is.

So using your small but intelligent brain you decided even if they could revive you via magic and the person who killed you would serve time… you’d travel to through the woods, trying your chances, and it paid off. You made a home out of mud and a stump, you made quite the life, and no one came here… usually.

For the last week you’ve been hearing booms and bangs, maybe someone testing magic or bombs, nothing crazy. Maybe you’d be able to scavenge some meat off a dead animal if they killed any… but having it disturb your sleep was the last straw. Well nezumimi aren’t really… known for their magic. Like in most cases they have small traces for simple spells, and some in the high percentile have to use small amounts because their body could… do stuff… due to the magic not having much space to work with. So- (get on with it) fine. So hath no furry like a mouse scorned and tired, geeked up on hormones and the smell of burnt weeds… to be met with the beady eyes of a royal… a neko. Now in this world eating others was totally nonexistent. But still… something in most nezumimi brains just snap. And she just found it adorable seeing you trying to stand up for yourself while not even being a foot tall. So she gently took your tail between her two fingers, keeping you in place… and that’s where it starts.

Not your traditional setting. Just for funnzies I decided… “what if it was like a fantasy setting… but modern day?”, bam, here we are. So phones and the works exist, robes are cool but don’t be surprised to see designer.

Mouse demihumans are one of the only Demi’s made of only “purebreds”. Because how small their body is compared to any other race you won’t find the small percents of dragon or cat or other stuff like you might in a wolf demi.

Electricity and magic go hand and hand in this world, they are used in equal part in everything.

Humans and other races exist, your traditional “enemies” are usually just civilians. Unless they have a horrid history they aren’t an “enemy”, but yes adventurers exist. Also yes, demons and gods/goddesses. They just be chillin.

Kingdoms and races are just one big clump, there’s tension but not any war, just the normal royal dick measuring contests.
