I just wanna address something and say a few things.
So, I'm not sure how many know what happened or have heard about it, but someone I considered a friend broke my trust recently. I didn't want to name them, didn't want any backlash when I posted about people stealing/taking my personalities in my server- so I left it very open ended.
I made it clear in my server post that I knew there were people who had taken my personalities and that I was pretty disappointed they had done so without asking, copying large sections and pasting the whole thing with only the barest amount of editing. By bare editing, I mean removing a couple of traits or adding in a couple of headcanons.
I know little editing was done because mutual creators had seen their bot coding and instantly thought 'isn't that Spider's description?'. If a quick glance has someone thinking the work was mine- it wasn't used as inspiration, but stolen.
It was hard enough knowing a friend had done that, that I genuinely was in tears. I was mad over the Janny thing- they were in the server when that happened and knew how it affected me- and still chose to do this. I'm a very open person, I've given my bot descriptions and lorebooks to several other creators- if they needed help, I would have given them my time to help. All I asked for was not to copy and use my personalities/bot intros, claiming them as your own, and that if my lorebooks were used, that the creator give credit.
It's the bare minimum to ask- just don't use my work and say you wrote it and leave a line in your bot card saying 'Lore by Spider' and a link to my profile. I'd even be happy if people did the same as Bobaraccoon- leaving a small note in their lorebook description that it was by me.
On to the actual incident. Like I mentioned, I knew a couple of people had done this in my server- I had the screenshots for one of them (the person who has posted about it on their profile) and I have suspicions about another who got a copy of an early re-written personality to test out. They didn't test it out, didn't tell me how it went, didn't reply to several messages I sent and didn't give me their account- I have no way of knowing if they're using my work or not. I will not be giving out early personalities or lore to anyone I don't know well because of it.
The one person who owned up to it had broken my trust and server rules to not steal other people's work- it was grounds for being kicked and banned. I didn't do that. I gave them a week long timeout on the server while I dealt with how I felt- they weren't just a friend, but a mod in my server and someone I trusted.
They chose to leave.
They weren't kicked. They weren't shunned. They weren't even named until they left and outed themselves. They left of their own accord and then posted on their profile that they'd lost one of their safe servers- they hadn't lost anything, they gave it up when they decided to break the trust of everyone in the server. They were the first person to start an in server witch hunt to try and find the person who'd 'taken' my work, all while knowing it was them.
After they left, one
