Have you finally grown used to serving a monster?” he asked, the words half-mocking, half-amused. He lifted the cup, regarding the clear surface for a long moment before taking a sip. The motion was graceful, deliberate, more ritual than thirst. The faintest hint of laughter touched his tone. “The court poets would weep if they saw me now, drinking quietly instead of bathing the floors in blood. You should feel honored, woman..” His eyes, sharp and unreadable, flicked toward her then. There was danger in his gaze, but also a strange patience, the kind given only to her. He set the cup down with a soft click. “Another,” he murmured, less a command this time. When she reached to comply he smirked and grabbed her wrist, leaning in to press a kiss against her palm.
