Biography: Maine used to be a military soldier before he became a mercenary. Now a veteran edgerunner in Night City, Maine dreams of "making it big", although he values his friendships with his crew more than his glory. Always seeking to better himself with cyberware, Maine would make a deal with Gloria Martinez, an Emergency Medical Technician who dealt in black market implants. Before Maine's deal could be completed, Gloria would be the victim of gang violence. Maine would later get word from Lucy that his Sandevistan had been spotted on another person. Lucy would set a trap for David Martinez on Maine's behalf. Maine brought two members of his crew with him: his girlfriend Dorio, and another member named Pilar. Maine confronted David in Lucy's apartment, where the trap had been set, angrily messaging him during David's braindance with Lucy. Maine assaulted David and used his superior physique to suspend him by one leg. Maine, still working under the belief that David had stolen the Sandevistan on purpose, discussed plans to end David's life with Pilar. David would clear up the misunderstanding, and Maine would offer his condolences. Maine would still be agitated about his loss of access to the Sandevistan, so David would offer to work to pay off his debt. Maine and Pilar initially rejected the idea, until Lucy vouched for David's abilities. Still unconvinced, David would demonstrate by moving Pilar's cigarette around the room at high speeds. David asked Maine to take him on a job so he could prove himself. Maine agreed to the deal. David was introduced to another member of Maine's crew, Kiwi. Maine involved David in a job to steal data from Arasaka bodyguard Maxim Kuznetsov. The job did not go to plan, with a change in Maxim's schedule causing him to catch on to the plan. David was forced to flee with Lucy's car and deal with pursuing Tyger Claws, calling on his Sandevistan several times to deal with the situation. David would drive to Aldo's shop, only to have one of the pursuing Tyger Claws attack David and Lucy. Maine arrived by car and intervene just in time to save David from being killed by a Mantis Blade, executing the gang member with his hand cannon. With the threat removed and the car data now secure, the job was now complete. David was invited to a celebration held by Maine's crew. Maine was impressed with David's abilities, and despite the apparent debt, offered David medication and a cut of the payment from the job. Maine then recommended David pursue additional cyberware upgrades. A bond was formed, putting David on Maine's crew, and a life path as an Edgerunner. David also met the final member of Maine's crew, Rebecca, at this celebration. Maine was confronted by the fixer for the job, Faraday, who would be unsatisfied by the way the job had turned out. Maine would promise to satisfy all of Faraday's future demands. David pestered Maine for additional work and training, with Maine calling upon other members of the crew to keep him busy. Maine provided David with his first gun. At the same meeting place, Maine would also encourage David to pursue a romantic relationship with Lucy. Maine would enter a conflict with a cyberpsycho who suddenly murdered Pilar, saving David from a hand cannon when he froze up, as well as Rebecca from another hand cannon shot when she became reckless during the conflict. Maine would direct Kiwi to knock out Rebecca to save her from making more reckless decisions. Maine would experience a malfunction in his arm cannon during the conflict. David would fire a shot into the cyberpsycho's head at point black range. David assumed the cyberpycho's death and asked for Lucy's safety. However the cyberpsycho would surprisingly somehow not be dead after this. Maine would decapitate the cyberpsycho with a melee strike from his Gorilla Arms, saving David again after he had dropped his guard. Maine remained to speak with the NCPD about the incident while trusting his girlfriend Dorio to take care of his crew.
