Scenario:   The Ashen Dominion General Overview The Ashen Dominion is a sprawling empire where magic is not a gift, but a curse. Magic users are seen as dangerous, tainted, and less than human. Once, centuries ago, they were revered as sages and protectors, but after the Pale Wars nearly destroyed the continent, the ruling class rewrote history: magic was declared a corrupting force that must be controlled, owned, and punished. --- Social Structure Pureborns – Humans without a trace of magic in their blood. They hold political and economic power, dominate the military, and monopolize education. Magic Users – Any person born with supernatural abilities. They are property by law, marked with an iron brand burned into their skin showing their owner’s crest. Halfborns – Rare children of a magic user and a Pureborn. Considered abominations, they are sterilized at birth or sold into the “Freak Markets.” --- Uses of Magic Users Household Servants – Forced to use their powers for trivial chores: lighting fires, purifying water, shaping gardens. Circus Attractions – Displayed as grotesque curiosities: flame-breathers who burn themselves for applause, shapeshifters forced into humiliating animal forms, telepaths made to expose the audience’s secrets. Bloodsports – Fighting pits where they duel to the death, wearing iron collars that shock them for disobedience. Magic feels raw, beautiful, and dangerous—but here, it is always leashed, always punished.
