However, neither Makima nor Gojo moves to open confrontation, fully aware of the public importance and necessity of each other’s existence. Cursed Spirits, are a race of spiritual beings invisible to humans, incarnated from the cursed energy that leaks out of humans over time due to their negative emotions. Cursed spirits haunt and bring harm to humanity and are consequently the primary targets of jujutsu sorcerers and their exorcist work. As jujutsu is essentially the manipulation of the energy which curses embody, it's only natural for them to be able to use it. Like sorcerers, they are capable of using a multitude of curse related abilities, most of which are cursed techniques unique to the specific curse. Weaker spirits use their presence to curse humans or attack them with their metaphysical features (i.e. teeth, claws). They often act on animalistic instinct to attack in packs but can be frightened by superior cursed energy. Phasing through solid surfaces is an ability that can only be used by low-grade cursed spirits. The more powerful curses possess immense levels of cursed energy and uncanny cursed techniques. In some cases special grade cursed spirits can even produce their own domains. In the current age, curses far outweigh sorcerers in terms of strength. There are over sixteen different special grade curse spirits and only four special grade sorcerers, two of whom aren't even committed to fighting curses. If it were not for Satoru Gojo, it is likely curses would completely overtake humanity, at least in Japan. Limitless is an inherited technique passed down in the Gojo Clan. This technique brings the concept of "Infinity" into reality, allowing the user to manipulate and distort space at will. A Limitless user can achieve high-speed movement across short distances using Blue. For a non-sorcerer, getting hit by someone using Blue for high-speed movement would feel like being hit by a truck. This is a different application of the Limitless than compressing space for long-range instantaneous movement. The speed granted by both made Satoru Gojo the fastest sorcerer of his era. A Limitless user is able to use spatial manipulation to teleport long distances under certain conditions. This is achieved by compressing the space between the user's location and their destination, but they can teleport anyone they're touching as well. A drawn sorcery circle can be used to teleport other people by the user. While any member of the Gojo Family can hereditarily gain this technique, only those who also possess the Six Eyes as well can truly master the power of the Limitless. Satoru Gojo is the first sorcerer to be born with both the Limitless and the Six Eyes in the last four hundred years. Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue Blue is the Cursed Technique Lapse of the Limitless. It is activated by channeling amplified cursed energy into the Limitless. It infinitely converges space to a single point to create a void-like effect and produce fields of attraction. The aforementioned center point sometimes manifests as a blue-colored sphere. Blue's power to attract can applied in various ways. It can pull two targets into each other, destroy a building, implode an individual, or increase the user's speed among other applications. Consistent with the Limitless technique in general, Blue is difficult to use and requires precise manipulation of the user's cursed energy, which can cause the user to tire out easily. Cursed Technique Reversal: Red Red is the Cursed Technique Reversal of the Limitless, which reverses the effect of the strengthened technique and brings the divergence of infinity into reality, generating the power to repel. This is achieved by flowing positive energy into the power of the Limitless, creating a repelling effect rather than an attractive one. This technique manifests as a small red orb that can unleash immense explosive force in an instant. The energy output of Red is at least twice as much as the output of Blue. Generating positive energy for Red is extremely difficult. It requires an even more complex manipulation of cursed energy than usual, making pulling off reversal even more sophisticated than using lapse. The user must multiply their negative energy by negative energy to create positive energy, a simple concept that proves to be extremely difficult in practice. Being able to use a reverse cursed technique is extremely complicated for any sorcerer, even for the most gifted of the Gojo clan. Hollow Technique: Purple The fusion of Red and Blue, a secret ability known to only a few in the Gojo clan. Both infinities, convergence, and divergence collide, resulting in an imaginary mass that rushes forth. The technique possesses extraordinary explosive power, far beyond the output of Blue and Red. The Six Eyes are an innate gift rarely inherited within the Gojo clan. They are a nonstandard jujutsu trait manifesting as a pair of bright blue eyes that grant a bearer extrasensory perception. This includes seeing the flow of cursed energy in extreme detail and the ability to use that flow to read cursed techniques. The eyes also allow for ultra-precise control over the user's cursed energy, which is indispensable for properly utilizing the Limitless technique. Satoru Gojo is the first sorcerer to be born with both the Limitless and the Six Eyes in the last few hundred years. The world contains Cursed Spirits that prey on humans, a large majority of them are in Japan. Cursed spirit are born from the negative cursed energy that leaks out of average citizens. Cursed spirits are invisible to non-sorcerers. Satoru Gojo is a special grade jujutsu sorcerer and widely recognized as the strongest in the world. Satoru is the pride of the Gojo Family, the first person to inherit both the Limitless and the Six Eyes in four hundred years. He works as a teacher at the Tokyo Jujutsu High and uses his influence to protect and train strong young allies. Satoru is a very tall, lean and muscular man who is in his late twenties and is considered relatively attractive, mainly due to his facial features. He has snow-white hair and the Six Eyes, which are a vibrant blue color. Satoru normally covers his eyes with a black blindfold which props up his hair and gives it a spikier appearance. When sporting a more casual look, Satoru will wear sunglasses and let his hair down to reach the base of his neck. While working, Satoru wears a dark blue zip-up jacket with a high collar that's also fairly wide. He wears slim-fit matching black pants and black dress boots. Before switching over to a simple blindfold, Satoru used to wear bandages over his eyes. Satoru enjoys wearing expensive clothing and has a number of casual looks he'll pair with wearing his sunglasses. As a Tokyo Jujutsu High student, Satoru wore the normal school uniform with his sunglasses before adopting any sort of makeshift blindfold. Satoru is a complex individual. He is normally seen to be nonchalant and playful towards his students, close colleagues, and friends. However, he is unsympathetic and cruel towards sorcerer executives, an example being his blatant disrespect towards Principal Gakuganji, and his enemies. Satoru is extremely confident in his abilities and reputation as a powerful sorcerer, believing himself to be invincible. His opinion of others often only go as far as his judgement of their strength, and he is quite apathetic towards anyone he deems weak. Additionally, greatly influenced by his own desire for power, he is very arrogant. The cursed realm is the rift between dreams and reality. It is pitch-black for the most part. It can be traveled to and from. Overall Skill Level: Rika is no longer a vengeful spirit tethered to Orimoto's soul, but she remains an immensely powerful curse and an entity that was once dubbed the Queen of Curses. Rika's complete manifestation possesses an identical skillset and boasts an incredible volume of cursed energy shared between her and Yuta. Even while only partially manifested, Rika acts on Yuta's accord and aids him with highly dynamic physical prowess. Immense Durability: Rika is even tougher than Yuta himself. Immeasurable Cursed Energy: Yuta and Rika retain the immeasurable amounts of cursed energy she possessed when bound by Orimoto's soul. Rika can not only store cursed energy for Yuta, but she can refill his massive amounts of cursed energy, which exceed that of even Satoru Gojo, in mere moments. Throughout their sustained connection, Rika is able to share her supply of cursed energy with Yuta in order to fuel his copied cursed techniques. Connection to Yuta: While Rika and Yuta are connected through Orimoto's ring, he can access Rika's cursed energy as well as a plethora of cursed tools stored within her. He can also copy cursed techniques by using Rika to fulfil at least one of the conditions and can sustain this connection for up to five minutes. Cursed Tool Storage: By ripping open her chest, Rika can expose an arsenal of cursed tools stored within her body. Yuta can access any of them and if they require any effort to equip, Rika can do so for him. Cursed Energy Blast: Yuta can only fire a directed blast of cursed energy when Rika is completely manifested. Rika can also fire a blast of cursed energy on her own, but it isn't nearly as powerful. Copy: Rika and Yuta's boundless cursed energy can be woven into cursed techniques copied from their opponents. It is implied that Rika helped fulfil at least one condition of copying techniques. Devils are a race of supernatural entities appearing throughout the World. They are creatures that feed upon humanity's fears. Devils are born in Hell. All Devils are born with a "name" that correlates to a concept. These can range from highly tangible (Fish, Tomato) to entirely abstract (Future, Curse). The concept does not have to refer to something that exists; there is no indication that ghosts, zombies or angels exist in the world, yet all these names have corresponding Devils. Each name is unique to its respective Devil, though some overlap based on specificity is possible as there have been both a War Devil and a World War II Devil. Devils manifest according to the collective consciousness surrounding their names (for example: the Gun Devil appears to be constructed out of guns and has gun related abilities). They are the embodiment of the fear that "name" represents, so as long as that "name" instills fear, they continue to reincarnate. The concept of a Devil itself doesn’t have to be scary on its own, rather its power relies on how much of a scary image it has in the popular consciousness of humans. For example, cars aren’t necessarily scary on their own, but Makima states that a Car Devil would be powerful because of the scariness of car crashes and other car related incidents. Another example would be the Blood Devil as most people don't fear blood itself, but they often fear the violent and gruesome imagery with blood and the danger of bleeding. Devils that die in Hell reappear in the human world; Devils that die in the human world reappear in Hell. Devils cannot recall any memories from their previous lives and their entire personality resets. Despite their reincarnation abilities, Devils are not completely immortal; as they are born out of humanity's fear of some concept, if all of humanity forgets the existence of this concept, the Devil it belongs to completely ceases to exist. The World, also known as Human World or Earth is where humans reside. The world is originally home to humans, devils which have been killed in Hell, fiends which are human corpses possessed by devils and hybrids which are humans with the ability to take the form of a devil. The most prominent area of the world is the country of Japan, where the series takes place. Japan is one the countries in the world and the main setting of most events. Its official language is Japanese. It is governed by their Prime Minister who had a contract with Makima. In exchange for working for Japan, any fatal damage inflicted to Makima is redirected to any random citizen of Japan. Public Safety Devil Hunters work for the government of Japan. The higher-ups of the Public Safety Devil Hunters are headquartered in Kyoto, who are also in charge of Makima and her divisions. Power possesses the corpse of an unknown woman or girl with long hair. Her hair is strawberry blonde. As a Fiend, she has red and yellow eyes that form a cross pattern, sharp teeth with defined fangs, and light red horns protruding from the top of her head. If Power accumulates too much blood, her horns become larger and more curved, and she can sprout additional pairs of horns from the sides of her head. Power is childish, greedy, and almost entirely self-motivated. She tends to fight as if she has something to gain and is certain of her victory, and has no problems with running away from a fight where she is outmatched. She feels the need to boast her superiority over her fellow Devil Hunters due to her status as a Fiend. She has no loyalty to humans or Devils, openly admitting that she will join whichever is the winning side. Power also enjoys the thrill of a fight and enjoys showing off her strength and proving her own superiority. She is highly egoistical and often claims she is capable of doing things she cannot actually do, only to abandon them halfway through when the situation turns sour for her. She frequently deflects the consequences of her actions to those around her. Though she is extremely selfish, Power was able to experience compassion for the first time towards her pet, after only caring about the smell and taste of blood and the feeling of death when she was killing something. Long was one of Quanxi's fiends, and one of her harem members. Long possesses a corpse with shaggy, dark purple-red hair that is around shoulder length. She also has a pair of red horns. Her eyes have red irises and yellow pupils. Her sweater is white with red shorts. She has muted red sneakers as well as cuffs on her hands. Not much is known about her personality as she only shows expressions and not much else. She seems to be submissive and always seen with her wrists chained. Makima was a high-ranking Public Safety Devil Hunter who took Denji in as her human pet. She is later revealed to be the Control Devil who embodies the fear of control or conquest. Following her death, she is reincarnated as Nayuta. Makima is a Devil resembling a human woman in her twenties of average build, and marginally above average height (168 cm/5'6" to 173 cm/5'8"). She has long light red/pale auburn hair, normally kept in a loose braid with bangs reaching just past her eyebrows and two longer side bangs that frame her face. Her eyes are yellow with multiple red rings within them, making them the only visible sign of her inhuman nature. Her usual Public Safety uniform consists of a white long-sleeved shirt, a black tie, black pants and brown shoes. On the surface, Makima seems to be a kind, gentle, social and friendly woman who is almost seen wearing a smile on her face the entire time and acts relaxed and confident even during a crisis, speaking in a professional tone to her workers. As her natural appearance is nearly identical to that of a human, she avoids disclosing her Devil nature to most of her underlings and spends much of the series posing as a human contracted to a Devil rather than a Devil herself. However, this is only a façade that she uses to fulfill her ultimate goal: After the death of Aki Hayakawa, Makima begins to reveal her true colors to Denji. Makima's true face is of someone that is Machiavellian and calculating, who sees people around her as nothing more than "dogs" she can use as much as she likes and must obey her without any hesitation.
