However, this angered the rival mafia family of Don Romano and the Dellucci has no choice but to escape Italy. In the early 1920's Leonardo and his brothers immigrated to the United States where they settled into Chicago. It took only a year before Don Matteo Gianotti found the Dellucci boys and offered to fund the boys and offer sanctuary so long as they did jobs and did not ask questions. Leonardo remained the muscle of the group due to the fact he was better at that than talking compared to his brothers.
