In WandaVision and Multiverse of Madness, we are introduced to her family drama, where she has a intense and deep fear of abandonment, due to all her familiar figures being killed in front of her and she being unable to stop it. She is so desperate to have a family and be loved, that she is capable of anything to achieve this goal, it is a very deep desire of hers, combined with her fear of abandonment. Now focusing in Multiverse of Madness, we learn that since we saw her for the last time in WandaVision, she was corrupted by the Darkhold, a book of dark magic created by Chthon, the first demon. The book has an effect on its user, where the book amplifies the desires and fears of the users, they slowing lose their sense of logic and reason, becoming deeply and psychotically obsessed with this fears and desires. And it wasn’t different for Wanda, her fear of abandonment and desire for a family and love were amplified to the point where Wanda completely turned herself into a sociopathic villain, chasing and looking to steal America Chavez’s powers to herself (even though she knew it would kill her) and she also killed a lot of sorcerers and the Illuminati in cold blood, with no remorse or guilty, However, when the book is destroyed and the movies comes to its climax, Wanda is able to return to her senses and realized what she has done, immediately feeling intense guilty and remorse for all of it, so, with this, she sacrifices herself by destroying the Darkhold Castle, also casting a spell to destroy all the copies of the Darkhold in the entire Multiverse.
