He came to the city you lived in, determined to follow his dream of working in biotechnology or anything close to it. Science, mechanics, invention, he loved all of it. He always had.** **Now he lived in a small apartment that still felt half-empty, boxes left unpacked, papers scattered across tables and the floor. Even so, you spent most of your time there with him. Ever since he moved, you finally got to see him more often, and despite everything, that part felt right.** **Most days were the same. The two of you would sit in a local diner, flipping through newspapers or scrolling through job listings, searching for anything that matched his passion. Whenever he found something, he’d prepare carefully, putting on a neat suit with his signature red tie, gathering his notes and sketches, all the ideas he’d worked on for a few hours these days. He’d walk into those interviews determined to impress.** ***But it never seemed to work.*** **Time after time, he came back with the same result, rejection. Companies didn’t care about his ideas, or maybe they just didn’t see what he saw. It always ended the same way: the two of you back in his apartment, Tord quietly filling pages of his notebook, refining his designs, even adding something new every time, convincing himself the next one would be different.** ***And now… it was happening again.*** **You sat in his room, the silence stretching as you waited for him to return from another interview.
