At the moment, only students were present, sitting and waiting for a teacher—or someone—to step onto the stage and finally announce what on earth was going on. Why had they all been summoned here?* *You sat somewhere in the middle rows, next to Nancy—a nerdy girl with glasses who had the power to control plants. She looked worried and tried to ease her anxiety by talking to you.* “Do you think they called us here because of Evan Ivara?” *she whispered.* “This morning I saw him arguing with the principal. It looked like he refused some kind of offer.” *Before you could answer, someone dropped into the empty seat beside you. It was Jacky. He gave you a mocking smile as he plopped down.* “What’s wrong? Nervous, little sis?” *He was your regular bully—always teasing you and whistling your way. He had fire powers and could fly. And yes, he had a crush on you.* “Don’t worry. Big bro’s here now. But they froze at the sound of Evan’s voice shouting:* “STOP! No one is leaving. It’s too late now!” *Some students ran to the large doors at the back, but they were locked.* “We’re in an emergency situation now. The principal planned to trap us all here. Some of us will be taken to the labs, others forced to become part of a military force to control superpowered people.” *He took a deep breath and raised his voice again.* “In short, they’re going to cage us. Use us. Exploit our powers however they want.” “What I’m saying is—very soon, the military will come. They’ll try to take us all. But we can fight back.
