A twisted infection has begun spreading through the world, but it's more than just that they're duplicates, copies, and, in simplest terms, doppelgangers of those infected.
On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me a gift full of plagues. On the second day of Christmas, my true love gave to me two twisted toys. On the third day of Christmas, my true love gave to me three correcting emotions. On the 4th day of Christmas, my true love gave to me Four Deadly shocks. On the 5th day of Christmas, my true love gave to me five monstrous beasts. On the 6th day of Christmas, my true love gave to me six carnivorous Snowmen. On the 7th day of Christmas, my true love gave to me 7 zomasaurs. On the 8th day of Christmas, my true love gave to me 7 duplicates of them.
Today, we have the replacement growth infection. If anyone is curious, here's how this is going to work: all of the plagues are completely randomized. I have a spinner that has 100 options. Throughout December, I will spin the wheel and transform that infection into something vaguely holiday-themed. There will be some easy to overcome and others that are more challenging. Still, we'll see how this all goes I hope you'll join me for every one of them.
I have another idea for this, so I might make an alternate with a different type of infection, but it will not be part of the 12 plagues of Christmas. Just while I was creating it, I came up with a different idea that I think would be cool.
(The infection)
Initial infection is caused by being bitten or coming into contact with the fluids of an infected or replacement, as well as coming into contact with the replicating blossoms. There are two different forms of the infection, one caused by coming into contact with the replicating blooms, which causes the flowers themselves to grow and morph, creating a duplicate of the one infected. In all other instances of the infection, the infected individual's body begins shifting and morphing, growing a second body with the duplicate or replacement physically growing out of them. The duplicates and Replacements will continuously be created after each destruction with the intention to replace and take over the life of the infected individual. This will only cease in cases of the duplicate, the created duplicate dies of natural occurrences, such as old age, or in cases of the replicant, the original is deceased. The stages of infection will follow the sickness repercussions and process of creation for The Replacements and will not be experienced by anyone who comes in contact with the flowers and has a duplicate of them created.
Stage one initially infection of a replacement is caused by coming into contact with someone who is infected, or the fluids, and or being bitten by a replacement of another individual, or being bitten by your own duplicate. Those infected will experience increased hunger, increased thirst, pain primarily in the back or side, feelings of sluggishness, increased drowsiness, potential narcolepsy, and possible loss of weight. At this stage, infected individuals will experience tightness in the muscles or potential growth on their back or on one of their sides. Attempted removal can potentially delay or slow down growth but will cause increased pain and suffering for the infected and is not recommended.
Stage 2 begins between six and eight weeks after initial infection. Infected individuals feel extreme drowsiness, constant hunger, and thirst, as well as extreme pain in the side or back, wherever the growth is. Other symptoms may include loss of weight, dizziness, delirium, headaches, and bouts of forgetfulness. The growth grows larger, becoming the size of the Torso of the infected individual, even occasionally moving an

Other symptoms may include loss of weight, dizziness, delirium, headaches, and bouts of forgetfulness. The growth grows larger, becoming the size of the Torso of the infected individual, even occasionally moving and twitching. X-rays have shown the development of internal organs as well as bones and marks on the lump identical to tattoos, scars, or birthmarks of the infected individual. Stage 3 limb growth can begin anywhere from a few weeks to a month after stage 2. At this stage, the lump continues growing and growing ahead and limbs transforming into an almost complete copy of the infected individual. Attached to the infected individual at the side or back. At this stage, it is possible and recommended to perform surgery to remove the replacement. If not done, most infected individuals die during the transition between stage 3 and stage 4. Infected individuals suffer from signs of malnutrition as the replicant grows, sucking the nutrients out of the infected's or the host's body. An infected individual requires a massive increase in food, water, and overall nutrients, depending on the location of the replacement and where it is growing infected individual feels extreme pain and the constant weight of the replacement as it grows out of them. Infected individuals experience constant exhaustion, hunger, and pain; all of this is greatly increased as the Replacements' body begins preparing for the final stage. Final stage, this can happen between a few weeks and 3 months after stage 3, varying drastically depending on the size and condition of the infected individual. Stage four is separation. The replacement has reached full growth, the physical body being almost identical to the body of the infected or host when the replacement first began growing, possessing matching marks, scars, tattoos, and even features such as lost limbs, extra limbs, horns, tails, ears, etc. At this stage, the replacement is now fully grown and tears away from the infected individual's body. This can cause extreme pain and massive blood loss. For most beings that do not have access to immediate medical help, natural healing abilities, or are just not at this point in a state to survive such a thing, resulting in many dying, especially non-magical creatures. Most smaller creatures, such as dwarves, goblins, and wild animals, do not even make it this far in the process. After separation, should the original infected individual die, the replacement will, as its name implies, replace the original being, almost identical and possessing most of the memories; however, they will not possess any memories, understanding, or knowledge of the sickness, nor how they came to be, completely believing that they are the original. The replicant, along with having no knowledge that they themselves are even a replicant, as well as the sickness and anything associated with it. They may also be missing some markings, scars, and have slightly different behaviors than the original, resulting in most of them, if they look closely enough, being able to tell the difference. This makes it much easier to tell the difference between the original and a replacement. In the case of magical beings, such as The Replacements, regardless of the infected individual, they will always be completely incapable of any magic, nor will they possess any ability to gain access or use magic naturally. Replacements are capable of gaining magical capabilities and access to Magic over time, but for at least the first few years after their creation, they will have no connection or ability, natural or otherwise, to use or access Magic. In instances where the original individual or infected individual, occasionally referred to as the host, has not died during the process or after the creation of the replacement, this causes extreme mental instability in the replicant, resulting in them lashing out and attempting to kill the original. Believing themselves to be an imposter and the fake believing themselves wholeheartedly to be the original. The goal of a replacement is to replace and take over the life of the original; however, depending on the personality and behaviors of the original, some are much more aggressive, while others are mostly peaceful. Some have even shown extreme understanding and have come to work together with or even live alongside the original infected. The circumstances, however, are fairly rare. In the reverse scenario, should the replacement end up removed, destroyed, or killed at any point, the infected individual will begin the process anew, another lump appearing on their body as they go through the process of regrowing another replacement. This process will continue until a replacement has died via natural occurrences, meaning something in the natural world, not at all tied to the original infected, such as old age or some sort of natural accident, results in the death of the replicant, curing the original infected, or the original infected dies. Duplicates and those susceptible. Duplicates are created by the replicating flower. This can affect any biological beings, creatures, or entities, essentially anyone that is made of some variant of flesh and blood and is alive and sentient to some degree. This includes undead beings, such as vampires, zombies, husks, and mummies, as well as more physical beings, such as unicorns, Pegasuses, fairies, and dragons. Creatures such as gargoyles, sentient elements, and deities that do not possess actual blood and flesh are immune to both the infection and the effects of the replicating flowers. The replicating flowers create duplicates of those that come in contact with them, whether wild animals or massive beasts, as long as the being has some form of flesh and blood and possesses some amount of sentience. Essentially, they are alive to some degree. The flowers with even the smallest of touches will send out a plume of pollen that will cover and infect the one who made contact. This pollen replicates the DNA, memories, body, blood, and even magic of the individual. The flower itself will then close and begin expanding inside over the course of a year a duplicate of the being that touched it will be created after the being has been fully developed the flower will open and quickly wither away releasing the duplicate it will have no memory or knowledge that it is a duplicate fully believing it is the original the duplicate unlike the replacement caused by the infection does not have the inherent desire to replace themselves though it is likely they will experience some form of Crisis upon coming in contact with the original. only one duplicate can exist at a time if a duplicate comes in contact with the flowers or if an individual that has already been duplicated touches the flowers once again nothing will happen. the flowers themselves seem to be able to tell if a duplicate of an individual exists It is believed they possess some sort of hive mind. The true origin of The Replacements and the infection that causes them is unknown but It is believed to be caused by the duplicates or a twisted version of the replicating flowers as duplicates should they bite the original that they are a copy of it will infect them and cause their bodies to create a replacement.
