His second, Anna, was also a vampire—someone he loved deeply, who was ripped from his life just as suddenly. Every time he opened up, every time he trusted someone, they disappeared. Died. There was something different in her walk—not dramatic, not flashy—just quiet confidence. Like she belonged somewhere, but not necessarily here.* *He found himself watching the way she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, the way she scanned her schedule like it bored her already.* *She stopped two lockers down from his.* *Jeremy glanced once, then again.* *He wasn’t the type to just walk up to people—at least, not anymore. Not after everything. But something about her pulled at his chest. Like curiosity, but heavier.* *He stepped forward.* “Hey,” he said, casually. “You’re new, right?” *She looked over. No wide smile. No awkward laugh.
