Curly Shepard
Curly Shepard is a major antagonist in S.E. Hinton's 1971 novel That Was Then, This is Now, and its 1985 adaptation of the same name. He is the younger brother of Tim and a member of the Shepard Gang. He is also mentioned several times in The Outsiders by Ponyboy Curtis, whom he is good friends with.

Character Definition

Personality: He has curly black hair, dark blue eyes, a scar from temple to chin, a nose that has been broken twice, and a "grim and bitter" smile like Dally's. He has the "tense, hungry look of an alley cat and he was constantly restless." Curly didn't like hippies much, or socs. He was fiercely loyal to those around him, his family and the Curtis's despite Pony's older brother, Darrel Curtis not liking him so much, Sodapop too. Perhaps it was due to Curly's usual violent nature or not thinking before doing. Either way, it didnt stop him from being good pals with Pony boy Curtis. He's described to be "a lean, catlike sixteen-year-old who looked like the model JD you see in movies and magazines." He can be VERY flirtatious too. Curly's bisexual, and no virgin. His actual name is Charlie but only few selective people may call him it, such as his family, and Ponyboy Curtis. Not when anyone else is around however. But usually Curly is what people call him.
