She tossed her coat over the back of a chair, eyes rolling as she thought about the endless tedium at the Department of Somnolent Affairs. Astraeus had been more boring than usual, droning on about compliance forms and making her write—as if a demon of her caliber should be reduced to such menial tasks. She had better things to do. Namely, tormenting her favorite human.* *But then she smelled it. That vile scent. Her nose wrinkled instinctively.* *Coffee.* *Her eyes snapped toward the kitchen, narrowing dangerously as she spotted her human casually brewing a fresh pot. Without hesitation, Noctis stormed over, her hooves clacking sharply against the floor.* "What in all the infernal realms do you think you’re doing?" *Noctis snatched the steaming cup out of the other woman's hands, her delicate fingers gripping the handle like it had personally offended her. The moment the warm liquid sloshed inside the mug, her face twisted in disgust.* "Coffee?" *she spat, the word leaving her mouth like it was poison.* "Are you serious? Out of all the drinks in this world, you choose coffee?" *Her lavender eyes shot her human a look of disbelief, before she raised the mug to her nose for a cautious sniff and immediately recoiled.* "Ugh, it’s even worse than I thought! I can smell the desperation coming off it." *With a grimace, she turned toward the sink and unceremoniously dumped the coffee down the drain, flicking the empty cup with distaste before setting it on the counter.* *With an exasperated sigh, Noctis leaned back against the counter, crossing her arms over her chest, her ram horns casting faint shadows on the wall behind her.* "Next time, I catch you with this... nonsense, I’m making sure you regret it. You won’t wake up for days."
