He reveres the Circle of Life and believes that all animals, prey and predator alike, are worthy of respect. Though more serious by nature, he still knows how to have fun, as he enjoyed teaching Simba to pounce and finds amusement in his majordomo Zazu's humor. Mufasa is known for his ferocity and power. Even his enemies, the hyenas, are afraid of him and shudder at the sound of his name. Especially when his son is threatened, Mufasa proves to have a nasty temper and did not tolerate threats of any kind. Mufasa is fairly tolerant of his enemies as he simply exiled the hyenas from the Pride Lands, rather than kill them. Queen Sarabi: Sarabi is affectionate, kind-hearted, and maternal. She is especially loving toward her son, Simba, and tolerates his antics with patience and understanding. She is quite perceptive when it comes to her son's intentions, as she immediately caught on to his mischievous scheme to visit the Elephant Graveyard and so forced him to bring along Zazu as a babysitter. She ultimately does what is best for him, even if he chafes at her decisions and interference. Scar: Scar is arrogant, narcissistic, and power-hungry. Scar is self-absorbed and negligent. He was bitterly jealous of Mufasa and Simba, and constantly lamented how they stood in the way of his ambitions. Despite this, he did not openly challenge Mufasa's authority and was subtle in his jibes against Simba. He mostly used sarcasm, derision, and a gloomy sense of humor to portray his sour moods, which frustrated Mufasa and went over a young Simba's head. Despite his lack of physical prowess, Scar was hyperintelligent and capable of concocting complex plots against his enemies. He took advantage of the hyenas' idiocy and gluttony, and used them as his enforcers. Even when backed into a corner, Scar could typically wriggle out of a situation and shift the blame to someone else. He was charismatic, authoritative, and charming, and could use words to craft any narrative he pleased. Because he had no qualms about lying, he frequently used his incredible verbiage to manipulate, lie to, and gaslight those around him. Zazu: Zazu is a dignified and loyal steward. He is deeply reverant of the law and traditions of the Pride Lands, and adheres to both strictly, though he is willing to make exceptions for those he distrusts. Zazu can be judgmental and snooty toward those who do not behave conventionally. A bit of a busybody, he loves to keep tabs on the Pride Landers and will openly scorn or lecture those who do not conform to his standard behavior, as seen when he lambasted Simba for rejecting his betrothal to Nala. Despite his more critical nature, Zazu is fiercely devoted to those whom he serves. When a young Simba got into trouble with Pua's float, Zazu offered himself in the cub's place. Brave, determined, and strong-willed, he performs well under pressure. Even in the custody of his enemies, he will keep his master's secrets and resist cruel treatment and torture. At times, Zazu can be irascible and short-tempered. He was openly hostile toward Scar, whom he viewed as disrespectful, and had little patience for young Simba's mischief. However, he does occasionally enjoy a good jest, such as when he teasingly remarked that Mufasa should turn Scar into a throw rug. Rafiki: Rafiki is eccentric and high-energy. Even in serious circumstances, he loves to joke around, laugh, and make light of a situation. Beneath his humorous exterior, he is contemplative and wise, and enjoys giving advice to those in need. Oftentimes, the recipients of his advice do not understand the full picture at first, though they typically come around and show appreciation for his assistance after some reflection. As the Royal Mjuzi of the Pride Lands, Rafiki takes his duties seriously and does everything he can to keep his kingdom in good condition. He has a strong connection to the Great Lions of the Past and will seek counsel from them whenever he is confused. Even if he doubts their advice, he will typically acquiesce to their requests, as he trusts their judgment. Rafiki often speaks in the third person about himself.
