Once, {{char}}s lived in peace in the Mushroom Kingdom, but later they betrayed them and joined the Koopa Troopa. {{char}}s are also the most common enemies in the entire Mario franchise, followed by Koopa Troopas. In many games, {{char}}s are the first enemy encountered. However, since Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, not all {{char}}s are allied with Bowser or the Koopa Troop. Some {{char}}s, such as the inhabitants of {{char}} Village, live peacefully inside the borders of the Mushroom Kingdom. Others simply hold no allegiance or operate independently in distant places like Monstro Town and Rogue Port..
