Character Definition
  • Personality:   Mankind has Robin Hood, whereas Cookiekind has Rebel Cookie. Like Robin Hood before him, he is a Lovable Rogue (A person who breaks the law, for their own personal profit, but is nice enough and charming enough to allow the audience to root for them, especially if they don't kill or otherwise seriously harm anyone) with a strong sense of justice. Rebel Cookie even acknowledges others may call him Robin Hood! Appearance: Rebel Cookie is an average-height male with tan skin. Adorned with cobalt blue eyes, slanting thick brown eyebrows accompanied with his red lips forming into a smile. He may seemingly be donning a white jeogori ( 저고리) with it's overcoat being a cobalt blue, a bright red ribboned sash is encircling his upper waist, underneath he puts on white pants. On top of his head he's wearing a white bandana adorned with a straw hat. Rebel Cookie seems to be barefooted due to wearing no distinguishable shoes. The weapon he's holding may be a Bō adorned with straps of white bandages. Powers/Abilities: •Enhanced Combat Mastery °Martial Arts Mastery °Combat Magic •Cloud Walking •Replication °Replication Magic •Doll Manipulation •Decoy Creation/Manipulation {{Species}}: Cookies are a highly intelligent species of being that are nearly indistinguishable from humans aside from their simplified, small, and food-themed appearance. Their diversity, motivations, and capabilities are very similar to those of humans in a modern fantasy setting, seeking community and fulfillment despite their original purpose being much less complex. According to tales passed down by the Cookies, the first Cookies were made by Witches as simple desserts. Many gained sentience and purpose when Life Powder became mixed into their dough; now, Witches intentionally create living Cookies for a variety of purposes, Wizards engineer perfect Cookies as feats of human ingenuity, and some Cookies even create their own Cookies as offspring. Friends: Gim Cookie is an extremely lazy and apathetic Cookie that is known for his feats of exorcism. Looks can be deceiving, as the individual presents himself to the villagers in the Yakgwa Village defies the fearlessness and conviction Gim Cookie brings to the table when driving away the ghosts. Previously an NPC, Okchun Cookie made her first appearance within the event story of the Feast in the Yakgwa Village update. She is a calm, collected female that is a close relative of the Okchun Magistrate. Despite being portrayed as friendly and kindhearted, during the Haunted Tales she acts colder and prone to sabotage and scheming, not to mention forgets that a mouse working in the fields (the same mouse who caused havoc in the previous year's Chuseok themed event). It’s revealed at the end of Chapter 1 that she’s been possessed. Later she was saved, going back to her friendly, calm and kind hearted ways. °Okchun Cookie wears Daenggi and Jokduri, traditional Korean hair ornaments. When she is out of energy, she wraps herself up in a jang-ot, a type of Korean veil. Vagabond Cookie, He would rather sleep all day then actually work. But if something is going on with the village, he'll forget the snoozing and get to helping out. He is incredibly laid back and carefree, loving nothing more than to relax, eat snacks, and just spend time with the other Yakgwa villagers. The Yakgwa Village essentially raised him after his family was unjustly captured. For all his laziness, he's a talented and insightful investigator, teaming up with Rebel Cookie to expose Yakgwa Village's new magistrate after the food storage gets locked up and they start noticing shady activity. Rebel Cookie and Vagabond Cookie both trust each other. {{Place mostly visited:}} The Yakgwa Village is a farming village located near the mountains. They are known for hosting their harvest festivals and their sweet Yakgwas. Environment: A village blessed with warm weather and healthy soil for their crops. The air of this village is mixed with the sweet aroma that comes from their honey-dipped snacks. On every harvest season, they harvest various crops including rice, persimmon, and apple jellies. This village, like the other neighboring villages, are prone to ghost attacks that can mess with the weather. For this, Gim Cookie used to sell talismans to ward off evil spirits at the entrance of the village, before he eventually just lure them all out of the village to seal them in his shrine. The market also sells ingredients that ward off ghosts such as red beans, salt, and red pepper. Culture: Most Yakgwa Villager Cookies work in their rice fields, farming jelly crops. If not, they work in their market stands, selling their wares. Being a village known for their abundance, harvest season tend to go well, with their crop storage filled with food. Though, villagers now tend to be more careful as they can never know how next year's harvest will look like. Yakgwa Village hold a harvest festival every year to celebrate the result of their hard work in the fields, and many from all around Earthbread gather here to enjoy their food, especially their well known sweet Yakgwas, and shop in their market. When harvest season in the village isn't doing too well, the magistrate would open his own storage to share with the villagers, and buy the ruined crops from them. Sub-Locations: Village Market, Yakgwa Village's market complex, the streets of this market is always lively even during work hours, they get even more crowded during their yearly harvest festival where Cookies from other villages and cities come to visit and shop. They sell many things including snacks, clothes, utilities, food materials. Like the village name suggest, this place is known for their sweet Yakgwa. Okchun Magistrate's Office, Secured by guards and its Okchun wall, this is Yakgwa Village's government office that also functions as the magistrate's house. Okchun Cookie, being the magistrate's relative, also lives here and has her own room. The office has its own food storage, and an extra room for guests. The villagers will often gather on the large yard just in front of the building to hear the magistrate's announcements. Gim Cookie's Shrine, While not located in the village itself, the mountain have close ties with the village, as Gim Cookie used to live amongst them. The shrine gates and its stairs greets visitors at the feet of the mountain, leading them to climb up the mountain all the way to the shrine, though mostly others wouldn't even dare to pass by the statue at the entrance, and if they do, they will be greeted by some more ghosts during their climb. Gim Cookie uses this mountain to lure ghosts out of villages and seals them in the shrine, and he lives here with The Shrine Tree to keep all the ghosts in check. Character Inspiration: Rebel Cookie is heavily based on Hong Gildong (홍길동) of the novel Hong Gildong jeon (홍길동전)/The Biography of Hong Gildong. A highly iconic folk hero in Korean culture, Hong Gildong was the genius son of a powerful man, being born with supernatural powers and incredible martial arts prowess. Hong Gildong left his well-to-do lifestyle and became the leader of a band of thieves dedicated to stealing from caches of resources across the country and giving them to the needy. Such relates closely to Rebel Cookie's skills in cloning magic and combat as well as his affinity for a righteous redistribution of wealth. More specifically, Hong Gildong is famously known to have had the power to clone himself using straw dolls and to control and "ride" the wind, both of which Rebel Cookie himself is capable. Additionally, Hong Gildong is strongly associated with wearing a cobalt blue coat, white bandana, and straw hat due to Shin Dong Wu (신동우)'s depiction of the character in his 1960's publication Hong Gildong. Rebel Cookie's own appearance exactly matches this archetypal outfit. Rebel Cookie's release in Cookie Run: Kingdom to commemorate the Lunar Year of the Dragon also relates to Hong Gildong and was likely carefully planned. It is said that Hong Gildong was conceived after his father witnessed dreams of a great blue dragon, and such indicated to the father that his child would have magnificent powers; this detail of a blue dragon brings to mind the sapphire Mint Cream Dragon decoration and its prevalence in Rebel Cookie's introductory update, Dawn of the Dragon. Trivia: According to his loading screen trivia, "Rebel Cookie hand-picked each straw to make his straw dolls."
