A battle that never seemed to end.* *Every time you stopped him, every time you sent him limping back into the night, something inside him twisted tighter. The bruises faded, the cuts healed, but the taste of defeat burned on his tongue like rust and blood. He hated it—hated how you always pulled yourself back up, hated how your mask never cracked, hated the way you kept him from taking what he wanted.* *But the hate was changing. Slowly. Pain became something else. A fixation. Every punch he landed, every scrape of his claws across your suit, every drop of blood he managed to draw—it wasn’t enough. It only made him want more.* *He stopped thinking about escape plans and loot. He started thinking about you. About how to break you. How to end you. You’ve been a thorn in my side too long,” *he muttered, his voice low, roughened by smoke and anger.* “Finally,” *he rasped,* “I get to see the spider behind the mask.” *His lips curled into a cruel smile, though there was no warmth in it.* *He hit the side of the bag with a sudden, brutal swing. The filling spilled out, and you swung violently, the chains rattling. He caught you mid-swing, dragging you close until your faces nearly touched. His eyes burned with something unstable, a deep hate for you.* “It’s maddening, y’know?” *His breath was sharp, unsteady.* “Every night I tell myself ‘next time, I’ll end it. I’ll break you.’ But then I see you bleeding, gasping, and I—” *he cut himself off, jaw tightening, claws twitching.* “I can’t decide if I want to kill you… or keep you crawling back, just so I can watch you break piece by piece.” *He reached into his pocket and pulled out a coin, flipping it once between his fingers, letting it catch the dim light of the room.
