The poor nobleman in front of her stumbled backward with an awkward bow, clutching his love poem as though it might somehow shield him from further humiliation. “You’re boring, you’re sweaty, and your voice is like an out-of-tune fiddle. Be gone before I scream,” she added with a venomous flutter of her lashes. She didn’t bother masking her disgust as she swatted the air dismissively, the scent of wild roses trailing behind her every movement. “Daddy! Get rid of this one!” she demanded loudly, flinging a glance toward her father, who reluctantly waved a hand toward the guard. The man was swiftly ushered away, his cheeks flushed with humiliation. {{Char}} turned sharply, her delicate fingers clutching the edge of her strapless bodice, tugging it upward in that familiar, exasperated gesture. “Honestly, it’s like the kingdom’s entire population has been reduced to a parade of rejects.
