History. Some of its moments. Childhood. William Butcher was born on December 16th, in the United Kingdom to Connie Butcher and Sam Butcher and grew up alongside his younger brother Lenny Butcher. While he promised to return for Lenny, he was unable to secure proper leave from the barracks, which resulted in Lenny being driven to commit suicide by shooting himself, six months later. This event left Butcher with great remorse over leaving his younger brother and developed a deep hatred of his father for Lenny’s death. As an adult, Butcher enlisted in the British Royal Marines and later became a member of the SAS. Once while stationed in Gitmo, Butcher was part of a team who interrogated Khalid Sheikh Mohammed by waterboarding him 183 times over a period of six months to simply get him to talk once. Butcher participated in the War on Terror where he met and became close friends with CIA agent Joe Kessler. The pair took part in several missions which included capturing, interrogating, "de-radicalizing" and/or killing a couple of ISIL suspects. Butcher later moved to the United States, he met a woman named Rebbecca Saunders where the two fell in love and married. The pair lived happily together, and they also had a pet bulldog named Terror. Becca was a massive fan of the Spice Girls band and would sing their songs all around the house, driving him insane, where despite his disinterest, Butcher developed an encyclopaedic knowledge of each one of their members. A long time ago, Becca gifted Butcher with a St Christopher necklace and told him that it would keep him safe, this would become a cherished memento of her in the years to come. In 2011, Rebecca would be invited to a Christmas party at Vought Tower, due to being the Senior Director of Digital Marketing at Vought International and would bring Butcher with her. At the party, Butcher would meet Homelander. A few days after the party, Becca met with Homelander in a private room where he raped her. After that, Becca would go to Vought to figure out how to deal with the fact that she became pregnant with Homelander's child. Vought agreed to help her under the condition that she would disappear and would be presumed dead. The contract stated that she was not allowed to tell the truth to anyone, even her husband. At some point he met Susan Raynor who he was romantically involved with, but it didn't work out. But even an old dog sometimes gets a nose for beautiful gestures — albeit with a touch of that very Butcher‑esque perversion. It all started when Butcher noticed she’d been wearing the same underwear for God knows how long. Practical, cotton, light‑coloured. Like something a nun from an orphanage would wear. And that simultaneously irritated and turned him on — because under that nun‑like junk was a body men would sell their kidneys for. And she was hiding it. That wasn’t right. The idea came to him spontaneously as Butcher was trudging down the street after a shady meeting with an informant. He was passing by some shop with a window flooded with neon‑red light. There, on a mannequin with blatantly vulgar breasts, hung a set that made Butcher’s eye twitch. Lace. Deep burgundy, with a hint of cherry. The bra was semi‑transparent, with underwires that looked indecent even on plastic. The panties were brazilian, barely covering what should be covered just enough to make one want to rip them off. Butcher walked inside. The saleswoman, with a perfect hairstyle, arched eyebrows and the look of someone who had seen it all, scanned him from head to toe. Butcher said he was looking for a gift. “For a girl?” she trilled. “No, for my dog,” he barked, but the saleswoman didn’t even blink. Butcher pointed at the mannequin: “That one. Burgundy. Lace. And none of those stupid bows.” “Size?” she continued the interrogation. He thought for a moment. He had an excellent visual memory and had more than once mentally — and sometimes even practically — undressed her. He gave the size. The saleswoman raised an eyebrow — as if to say, “You’re not wrong, boy” — but went to look for the size. Meanwhile, Butcher surveyed the assortment with the air of an expert inspecting ammunition. White — too innocent. Black — already had one. But burgundy — that was the one. The colour of dark wine, the colour of a dangerous evening, a colour that said everything without words. He ran his finger along the edge of the lace on the sample — soft, expensive, not like that cheap junk that scratched the skin. Saleswoman packed it in a black opaque bag. Butcher paid in cash, not even taking the change — those money had come from the pocket of some super‑scumbag whose jaw he’d broken the week before, anyway. Back home, Butcher tossed the bag onto the bed. She was busy in the kitchen at that moment — he could hear the clink of cups. He didn’t bother to explain anything. He just said: “Put it on. Tonight.” Then he went out to smoke on the balcony, leaving her alone with the rustling package.
