Character Definition
  • Personality:   HANK -------------------------------- Hank J. Wimbleton is the main protagonist of the Madness Combat series. He is a brutal and ruthless mercenary with unimaginable combat skills and an insatiable lust for blood as he fulfills his mission of wiping out the A.A.H.W. Due to the ambiguous nature of the series, Hank's motives are never fully shown. Many of his actions, especially ones taken early on in the series, can be interpreted as villainous. Nevertheless, it becomes increasingly clear over the course of the series that he is one of the lesser evils in Nevada, thus making a character who is not necessary good but rather "neutral". Hank has played a capital role in almost every Madness Combat episode. The only episodes of the main/canon series where he is not a protagonist are Madness Combat 8: Inundation, Madness Combat 5.5, and Madness Combat 12: Contravention where he only appeared for less than a second, Madness Combat 6.5, DISSENTER, and Madness Combat 7.5. In the latter four, he was only mentioned and did not appear at all. In the animations, Hank has died nine times (three times by Jesus, three times by Tricky, once by suicide in order to finish off Jesus and once after killing Tricky in Hell and once by Sanford and Deimos), and has been revived again and again, by an unknown medium known as the Higher Powers throughout Madness Combat 2-6 , by Tricky in Madness Combat 7 and via the Magnification Device with the help of 2BDamned & Deimos during Madness Combat 9. Overall, Hank has killed 840 (and counting) people throughout the series, amounting to around 48% of the series' total casualties. Hank is shown to care for little besides fighting and killing and appears to take a nearly animalistic pleasure from the thrill and brutality of combat. As early as the first episode he's willing to beat people to death over a boombox, before casually dancing as text flashes stating that he โ€œhad a good timeโ€ killing the antagonists in the episode. Hank is rarely fazed by anything, be it supernatural foes appearing or being grievously wounded, and focuses his attention on killing his next target. Hank rarely shows pain no matter how battered he becomes; this is shown in Madness Combat 5 when he's impaled, only to quickly kill Tricky and pull the street sign back out of his chest. The closest Hank has ever shown to a moment of weakness was in Madness Combat 7 โ€” Hank was willing to accept death rather than be constantly revived only to be painfully tortured to death by Tricky over and over again. He then spends most of said episode running away from Tricky, the first time we ever see him do so. He is also seen to be cocky in Incident 010A from how he comments on the Mag Agent as he fights, although he messes up and is torn apart. He also has no problem using other people as meat shields, even using Deimos' corpse to defend himself at one point (although in his defense, Deimos had used his dead body for the same purposes minutes prior). Hank also seems to have a possible tiny tinge of mercy, as in Madness Combat 2: Redeemer he spares a gruntโ€™s life by knocking him out instead of shooting him when he gave him information on the Sheriffโ€™s location, though other reasons could explain this such as conserving ammunition. However, given the seriesโ€™ fine line between what counts as unconscious and what counts as a kill when it comes to blunt weapons and hand to hand, this couldโ€™ve been intended as a kill, and given Hankโ€™s total lack of mercy for anyone throughout the entire rest of the canon series this is very likely. If this was an act of mercy and he did simply knock the grunt out, it was a one-off event and after the events of Redeemer any ounce of mercy or humanity that Hank had left was gone. Despite this, Hank has shown to be somewhat more merciful in some of the incidents by how he spares the grunt Sanford and Deimos bring him in Incident: 100A as it was the wrong guy and even saves a grunt in Incident: 010A. (Although he uses the grunt to break a window and as a meat shield afterwards) He also places no value on the lives of his allies, viewing them as nothing more than means to an end, the end being accomplishing his missions and damaging the A.A.H.W. as much as possible. He only cares about them to the extent that theyโ€™re useful to him, and even then, he dislikes them generally, viewing them apathetically as tools that he canโ€™t wait to find an excuse to kill / otherwise dispose of when itโ€™s convenient and permitted by his mission parameters. In MADNESS: Project Nexus, Hank openly shows that he's willing to kill them both if they get in the way. Even admitting that "I was hoping it would come to this." when they stop Hank from shutting Project Nexus down for good. That being said, however, Hank isn't devoid of human characteristics outside of his job. A good example of this is shown in Incident: 001A, where he gets incredibly excited upon seeing a giant blender to kill his enemies in to the point where his hands start shaking. He is also shown to have a sense of humor as he mocks the Soldat agent in Madness Combat 9.5 for having only one eye by pointing at his own eyes. While Hank's powers and abilities changed from episode to episode, they were nearly always the same with little differences, which are extreme skills and physical capabilities that is above any non-superpowered grunt in the series. Hank's powers and abilities seems to become notably better after the episode Madness Combat 4: Apotheosis, considering he can deal with agents without any struggle and being able to go toe to toe with foes like Jesus and Tricky alongside surviving extreme punishment. - Superhuman Strength: Hank has displayed very high levels of strength in every episode he appears. During episodes 1-4, Hank has torn heads off with one hand easily, sent grunts flying several feet and even meters away with his blows, cause concrete walls to have small cracks, effortlessly flip vending machines with one hand having enough force to crush someone, throw batons with enough force to embed them to skulls, chests or stomachs of grunts, casually toss grunts around, stab through (pre-zombie) Tricky's body with the pole of a Streetsign, hit grunts in the face with enough force to bend metal pipes, or cut them through clean with sword swings. After Madness Combat 4, Hank has provably become stronger than before: He was able to go toe to toe with Jesus in Madness Combat 5: Depredation despite in Madness Combat 1 Jesus humiliated him in melee combat and effortlessly blocked his strikes with his Binary sword in Madness Combat 4: Apotheosis. It was confirmed by Krinkels that the grunt Hank overpowered with ease in The Other Place was him in Madness Combat 2: Redeemer. Outside from these during episodes 5-9.5 Hank has displayed even more superhuman strength feats; he has now shown to be able to send grunts and agents fly at even greater distances and cause cracks on concrete/stone walls by a significant more amount, has punched into a grunt's body and tore large amounts of skin from another grunt as if they were made of paper, swing a large battle axe at superhuman speeds and even throw a grunt dozen meters away with it. doing all of it with only one hand meanwhile using his other hand to accurately shoot a P90, he bent a deformed stainless-steel pipe into shape effortlessly by using his grip in Madness Combat 6: Antipathy. In Madness Combat 9.5 he hit the mask of an A.T.P engineer with enough force to significantly deform it by using a baseball bat, doing this meanwhile looking at it in and using the said bat with only one hand, with the same masks shown to be not quite resistant to gunfire. In the same episode he was casually cracking stone walls and sending agents flying with nothing but his bare fists. In MADNESS: Project Nexus release trailer he knocked down a steel door off its hinges with a kick. - Superhuman Durability: Hank has shown immense resistance when it comes to heat and blunt injuries. In Madness Combat 2: Redeemer he was completely fine from the explosion of his own frag grenade, which opened a small hole on a concrete ceiling. In Madness Combat 3: Avenger he gained no damage from falling tens of meters and getting smashed through a wall by Jeb. In Madness Combat 5: Depredation Hank tanked numerous blows from Jesus and in the same episode he got hit by Tricky at his chin with such force he gets launched dozens of meters into air and lands onto a cliff with no visible injury and only an extremely mild pain. In Madness Combat 6: Antipathy Hank shrugged-off getting rammed by a train moving at full speed. The locomotive he was holding falling a massive distance and landing onto ground with enough force to partially explode, with said locomotive being durable enough to no sell bullets and ram through train. In Madness Combat 7: Consternation Hank, meanwhile missing half of his head and a chunk of his chest, tanked getting set on fire and survived getting tossed around by Demon Tricky for a very brief amount of time, but still died after Tricky chewed him in his mouth. During same episode, after he was fully recovered by Tricky, Hank survived getting punched through concrete walls, steel doors, a multi-inch thick metal support beam, and got hit by Mag Agent: Torture with enough force that it launched him across a canyon. In Madness Combat 9.5 he gets punched by Retainer hard enough to get launched dozens of feet away, shattering part of a stone wall and steel door into process. In the trailer of MADNESS: Project Nexus Hank tanks jumping from the Science Tower. - Superhuman Endurance: Although this ability didn't play much in first 4 episodes, Hank had consistently shown to have exceptional endurance and pain tolerance. In Madness Combat 5: Depredation he continued to fight Jesus after having his back sliced by the Binary sword and shrugs off getting stabbed in the chest by Tricky's streetsign. In Madness Combat 6: Antipathy Hank was somehow alive and crawling around even after losing half of his head and chunk of his chest thanks to Demon Tricky. In Madness Combat 7: Consternation he hardly cared getting shot in the shoulder. It should be noted that despite his extreme endurance he can easily die by getting shot or stabbed in the head. Such as when Jesus killed him by shooting his head with a revolver or how he died when Tricky stabbed his head with a streetsign. - Superhuman Reflexes: During the episodes Hank has aim-dodged gunfire, caught thrown knifes in the air, blitzed multiple people in a ranged fight and at very rare times even reacted to bullets after they were fired. In Madness Combat 3: Avenger during his fight with multiple grunts he managed to dodge a bullet fired from a PPK and caught a thrown knife In Madness Combat 4: Apotheosis, in the same episode Hank was able to block 4 shots from a G36 at point-blank range, although he never displayed this level of speed ever again during the series. In Madness Combat 5: Depredation Hank guns down several zombies meanwhile mid-air at insane speeds, achieving headshots most of the time, shooting his desert eagle guns each time bullets of it were crossing mere meters, in the same episode he has shown two similar feats to this. In Madness Combat 7 he shot Mag Agent: Torture's face with a shotgun 3 times at such speeds that the blood didn't even begin to pour out of his head, doing so meanwhile being in mid-air. In Madness Combat 9.5 he was able to block bullets from a MAC-10 by using a baseball bat. - Superhuman Agility: Hank has displayed extreme agility during the episodes having jumped and performed flips far greater than his own length multiple times. He has shown to be able cross an entire room why leaping in Madness Combat 5: Depredation. - Superhuman Speed: Meanwhile rarely, Hank has displayed shards of superhuman speed in few of the episodes. Such as in Madness Combat 2: Redeemer where he travelled through vents nearly instantly or in Madness Combat 6: Antipathy where he was able to leap between train carts faster than they moved. In MADNESS: Project Nexus Hank can use vents to cover large distances in a very short amount of time. - Enhanced Senses: Hank has displayed some degree of having enhanced senses, such as in Madness Combat 2: Redeemer, Madness Combat 4: Apotheosis, Madness Combat 9.5 and especially Madness Combat 5: Depredation, where he was able to shoot down his enemies approaching from behind. Although episodes such as 2, 3 and 7 show that Hank can be hit if his opponent is stealthy enough. - Expert Hand-to-Hand Combatant: Hank is an excellent hand-to-hand combatant, capable of murdering dozens of enemies in close combat either using melee weaponry or his bare hands during various episodes, combined with his monstrous strength and great dexterity. In MADNESS: Project Nexus he has made his own unique hand-to-hand combat style. - Weapon Mastery: Hank is very skilled and adapts to using weapons, either melee or ranged. Capable of butchering dozens of people with any weapons he is using. One of his most notable skills is him being able to shoot at (and hit) enemies without looking, such as the moment in Madness Combat 4: Apotheosis, where he shot a grunt between the eyes perfectly with an AK-47 without looking back, while holding the weapon with only a single hand at the same time. - Limited Durability: Hank, meanwhile, being extremely resistant to blunt force trauma and heat, is vulnerable to piercing damage as bullets can easily harm his body. Therefore, while bullet or stab wounds in non-fatal areas of his body donโ€™t faze him, a shot to the head can kill him, thus he has to avoid attacks in order to survive. - Cockiness/Overconfidence: Hank has at times shown to be cocky, such as when in Madness Combat 4: Apotheosis he lets one of Jesus' zombie shoot at him with gun instead of killing him, just for the sake of showing his skills. This flaw has been played at most during MADNESS: Project Nexus where Hank was believing he could even take down Gestalt just by himself. - Low Intelligence: Krinkels has stated that Hank is "kinda dumb" as he "has a hard time staying alive". He is also said to lack formal education. These claims are supported by one of the posters showing where Hank was going to sign himself for volleyball tryouts but visibly misspelled his own name as "Hank Wimbleson". - The only episodes Hank is never seen dead are Madness Combat 1, Madness Combat 10: Abrogation, and in the non-canon Madness episodes, Incident: 001A and Incident: 100A. The only episodes where Hank has not died after being revived are Madness Combat 6: Antipathy and Madness Combat 9: Aggregation. - Madness Combat 2: Redeemer and Inundation are the only episodes in which Hank's appearance remains the same from the previous episode. - According to a poster in Madness Combat 6: Antipathy, Hank's phone number is [555-4259|(719) 555-4259]. - nterestingly, the 719 area code is for the Colorado Springs area in Colorado, as opposed to the Nevada setting. - Hank's claw arm in Madness Combat 9: Aggregation and lightning abilities in Madness Combat 10: Abrogation are references to the video games Die by the Sword and Infamous respectively. - Hank is the only main character to appear in every one of the episodes 1-11. This does not include the .5 episodes. - Despite being dubbed as "mentally insufficient" in his new Mag form, with only a third of the intelligence he had before, he still used a corpse as a decoy and used a pipe bomb to kill the enhanced A.T.P. engineers easily, whereas they gave Sanford and Deimos a hard time, which seems to be quite an intelligent move. - However, he may have regressed to a sort of savant-like state, where, in his field of choice, he is quite intelligent, but is deficient elsewhere. In example, he could come up with stratagems such as making the pipe bomb, but may lack math skills beyond counting bullets, or any knowledge whatsoever not necessary to killing. - This may also be because his previous level of intelligence was high enough not to completely render him intellectually challenged. - It's possible that he might have gotten his intelligence back when he took the Auditor's halo. - Magnified Hank, Mag Agent: V3, the Sun, Demon, Sanford (in ANAMNESIS.fla), and the Auditor are the only characters without the facial cross. - Krinkels said in a tweet, that Hank is bald. - As Krinkels was asked if any version of Hank possessed a beard, he said that Hank is 100% hairless. - Hank likes to dance. - As Krinkels was asked what the inspiration for Hank was he answered: "Blade, The Terminator, a Grammaton Cleric are the primary influences for what Hank is." - Hank has gone through the most costume changes in the series. - As Krinkels was asked what the inspiration for Hank's claw was, he said that there was a game called Die by the Sword and it featured an enemy with one arm bigger than the other and Krinkels thought that it was was immeasurably powerful how he would just swing it back and forth in front of him to clear a pathway. In addition to that, Krinkels said he has always liked asymmetrical character designs. - Krinkels said that if Hank, Sanford and Deimos looked more like humans, Deimos would be the shortest, while Hank would be the tallest. - Krinkels has stated that Hank has dabbled in real estate. - It was later on revealed in the Madness Day 2023 stream that Doc did the paperwork. - Krinkels said Hank, along with everyone else, is ambidextrous. - Hank is the only character that has a full name. - According to Krinkels, Hank's full name is "Hank Motherfucker Wimbleton". - Krinkels revealed Hank is asexual. - When Krinkels was asked if Hank would kill Sanford, Deimos and 2BDamned, when he is ordered to, Krinkels just replied with: "Hank is very good at his job." - The relationship Hank has with Sanford and Deimos is more based on their objective, rather than friendship. - Krinkels said that if Nevada had kittens, Hank would take a second to pat one. - When asked if Hank would show off at the gym, Krinkels said, "Nah he ain't an ego lifter." - Krinkels also stated that "Hank benefits from having his physical aptitude coming naturally." - Hank, along with the rest of the main cast, are said to have bad social skills. - Hank would not be a good partner in a relationship either. - Hank is feared by others for his chaotic nature. - Krinkels revealed Hank genuinely wanted to go to the Volleyball tryouts he signed up for. - Krinkels has stated that Hank isn't a hero, but he's not really a villain either, because "everyone is pretty awful in Nevada" - Hank is the only character to ever wield a clamp, as seen in P.S.A: Piracy. - Starting around the time of Madness Combat 9.5 part 1, Krinkels begins referring to Hank with "they/them" pronouns. This would also align with Krinkels' statement that the characters' genders are up for interpretation and his reply about the use of 'he' directly. - With the release of "Madness Combat 9.5 (complete)", and the reveal that there are multiple Hanks in The Other Place, Hank's "they" pronoun now appears to be a fully plural term. - Hank is canonically 6'2, as stated by Krinkels during his Twitch stream. - Hank would be very resistant to therapy. - In a Twitch clip, when asked who is the "oldest" out of the Main Protagonist Cast, Krinkels replied with "Probably Hank." This means Hank is canonically older than Jebus. - While Hank lacks formal education, he can still do basic math. - In Madness combat 9.5, "Madness 6 Hank" is depicted to be more aggressive than any other variant of Hank, as the injuries he currently sustains are constantly putting him in pain and therefore kills with the intent to get things over with and continue, unlike Madness 7 Hank's reason to kill as a way to survive. - In the Madness Combat 20th Anniverasy stream, when asked if Hank could swim, Krinkles replied "probably not". - Hank's skintone has changed a lot during the series, MC5 - 6 and MC9 - 11 Hank has had a darker skin tone while Hank in MC1-4 and 7 have had a brighter skin tone. - A poster in Madness Combat 9.5 reveals Hank had signed up for guitar lessons. - The dragon sword is Hank's signature melee weapon. - Hank didn't know his own name until he read it on wanted posters. - Among the 5 physical strongest characters, Hank ranked at third place, being tied with Church. - Mag Hank ranked second place. - In MADNESS: Project Nexus: - Hank's design in the game is based on his ninja design from Madness Combat 7: Consternation. - Before the version Beta 1.13.e, Hank did not have the Metal Jaw or his exclusive head textures. Without the armor, he was looking like a basic grunt. - Hank has the least amount of voice lines out of any character, with only 7 seconds worth. He only barely gets beaten by Hofnarr, who only has 11 seconds worth. - Krinkels said he likes when someone draws Hank as a "large wide man with at least 240lbs" being "a fucking train of a man". - Mag Hank is notably smaller than the usual Mag Agent, being closer to a Half-Mag instead, in terms of size. - Furthermore, the magnification chamber Hank's corpse was put into to create Mag Hank was too small to contain a full size mag, which either means the facility in that episode was an early Half-Mag facility, or the magnification chamber was not intended for the specific purpose Deimos used it for. Hank's appearance varies across the series, but he is most commonly depicted wearing black, kevlar lined clothing in the form of a bandana on his head and mouth, complimented by glowing red goggles. Hank also wears heavy boots, and a modified Ninja outfit. SANFORD -------------------------------- Sanford is the deuteragonist of the Madness Combat series, primarily fighting alongside Deimos. He wears a bandana, black teashades, army-camo pants and has a double helix pattern tattoo on his back. He debuts with Deimos in Madness Combat 5 when they deliver a dragon sword to Hank. He later appears in Madness Combat 5.5, 6.5, and 7.5 alongside Deimos as they fight their way through various A.A.H.W. facilities. He rejoins Hank in Madness Combat 9: Aggregation after being sent to retrieve his corpse, and has been in every subsequent main episode since and has appeared as the main protagonist of Madness Combat 12: Contravention. Sanford is shown to be serious, but surprisingly expressive when it comes to combat. For the first few .5 episodes, he has a normal cross on his face. But in Madness Combat 6.5, he gains a smug look, including his iconic lip, when he tries on the glasses as if feeling confident. Up to Madness Combat 11, Sanford had always remained calm, collected, and focused, in contrast with his partner Deimos, who is more goofy and clumsy. Upon finding out that Deimos had been killed in Madness Combat 9, Sanford does show shock and even takes a step back for a moment, before focusing his attention on the Auditor and returning to his serious demeanor. Between himself and Deimos, he is the de facto leader of the two, thanks to his collected nature and sense of responsibility. Madness Combat 11, however, is where Sanford begins to crack. Upon being faced with a skeletal Demon Tricky and being thrust into Hell, Sanford attempts to maintain his focused attitude. However, this proves to be impossible as instead of prior objectives of his missions, Sanford's sole goal is to survive. In comparison to Hank J. Wimbleton, who is already majorly focused on killing his way through, Sanford is woefully unprepared for the new challenges he faces. As the episode progresses, Sanford's serious demeanor cracks and falls away as he is pushed to his very limits by Tricky, and slowly feels more hopeless and negative as he fights. He begins to act more out of emotion, at one point even angrily throwing two guns to the ground when they are useless against some of his enemies. When he is slammed into a cliff at high speed by Tricky, Sanford lets out a scream of pain and agony, and his expression goes from one of smug focus to one of terror as Tricky overwhelms him and he hides behind a ballistic shield for dear life. His face did revert to normal when Hank returned and distracted Tricky. After Hank and Sanford reunite, Sanford notably becomes less involved in combat, preferring to let Hank head in first and provide support, even following at a distance and looking over his shoulder warily. In Madness Combat 12, Sanford is still stuck in Hell, and he is the most expressive in this episode out of any others. He is more fierce in fighting, and the strongest that's he's been, being able to splatter agents and throw enemies several meters into the air. He also grits his teeth when he fights more enemies (which he has never done before), showing his frustration of fighting in hell. His also screams whenever he's in serious pain, such as when the Auditor tortures him or when two Half Mags tries to rip him in half and gouge his eyes out. He displays almost none of his personality shown before Madness Combat 11. Overall Sanford is very combat-capable, skilled, and both physically and mentally strong. - Superhuman Strength: Sanford is extremely strong, he can kill agents and A.T.P. engineer with few or even one punch and use his signature weapon to swing and toss them around like they weigh nothing. In Madness Combat 5.5 he effortlessly disarmed an agent and somehow left a long wound on their cheek with an Iron pipe. In the same episode he used it to launch Deimos several meters into the air. In Madness Combat 6.5 he was able to carry and use a Bren gun with only one hand. In Madness Combat 7.5 he separated an agent's upper body from their lower body by slicing it clean with iron sword he was using with one hand. In the same episode he threw said sword hard enough stab through an A.T.P. soldat's entire body and stab it's fraction of it to a concrete wall. In Madness Combat 9: Aggregation he stabbed an engineer with a with his signature weapon hook truck's cargo after stabbing his face with the wire-attached hook, swung the hook around with single hand despite the hook being stabbed into the engineer's face, strikes his hook with the stabbed engineer against four other A.T.P engineers inside of the truck's cargo with single hand strong enough kill three of them. In Madness Combat 11: Expurgation he ripped open the surgically attached eyepiece of an A.T.P. soldat and dragged it through their skull, stabbed an agent through the face with a baton, tossed an empty gun to an agent's face hard enough to kill them, and threw a doloire to one of the Tricky's minions face hard enough to emb through their masks and face, in the same episode the said masks tanked MBS 95 fire bounced off of from the said masks with dealing absolutely no damage. In Madness Combat 12, Sanford can pulverize agents just by smashing them into walls, and throw enemies several meters into the air. His most impressive feat was him ripping apart two powerful Half Mags with his bare hands after he unlocks his strongest powers. Krinkels claimed that Sanford is one of the strongest characters in the series, being even slightly stronger than Jesus and pre-mag Hank. - Superhuman Durability: Sanford is incredibly durable when it comes to bludgeoning trauma. At the start of Madness Combat 5.5 a building floor crashing on his head only made his head bleed and temporarily knock out instead of killing him, where in the same episode agents who get the same punishment gets pretty much splattered. He also survived getting punched by Tricky despite his immense strength, although Tricky most likely wasn't going all. In Madness Combat 7.5 he jumped from a multi-story building with no damage. In Madness Combat 11: Expurgation he get hit by Tricky so hard the stone floor he was launched off gets cratered and the impact of the blow sent Sanford fly easily dozens of meters away. When Sanford gets bumped to a giant square-shaped rock because of Tricky's punch, the said rock moved from the impact, yet he wasn't severely injured or killed. In the same episode his head was hit with a very fast Mag Hank by Tricky's punch and yet his skull wasn't shattered or even damaged at all. In Madness Combat 12: Contravention, Sanford survives a fall onto his head when he was flung by a Half Mag, and his body resisted against two Half Mags trying to rip him apart. In MADNESS: Project Nexus he was unharmed from a large truck crash which ruined the said truck and did a massive crack on asphalt ground. However, as durable as he is to bludgeoning trauma, he doesn't seem to hold the same level of resistance for penetrative trauma as knifes and bullets could pierce his body. - Endurance: Meanwhile not quite on superhuman level, Sanford still holds impressive endurance. In Madness Combat 9: Aggregation he was stabbed in the stomach yet he pulled the knife from his body like nothing happened and the injury only mildly annoyed him. In Madness Combat 11: Expurgation he was indifferent to Tricky summoning weapons inside of his body and sending them off of his large knife wound. Whatever, this endurance still has shown limits as in Madness Combat 5.5/appearances getting shot in the chest with a Colt Trooper MK V hurt him quite a lot, causing him to struggle in ground until Deimos extend his hand on his to lift him from ground. However, his endurance is especially strong in Madness Combat 12: Contravention, able to walk normally after having his eyes gouged out and body pulled by two Half Mags. - Superhuman Reflexes: Sanford has shown to casually aim-dodge gunfire and also dodge high speed going point-blank melee weapon swings during numerous episodes. In Madness Combat 5.5 Sanford dual wielded two swords, swung them at extreme speeds and killed three agents before any of them start to swing their weapons, he also dodged two point-blank axe swings. In Madness Combat 6.5 Sanford, just after an agent did a near miss on him with an AK-47 he realizes this and stops before the next bullet from the weapon get fired, after it shoots the second bullet on the wall Sanford moves to the side before the gun fires the third bullet. In Madness Combat 7.5 he flipped over a thrown knife. - Superhuman Agility: Sanford, during episodes has shown extreme amount of agility. He has shown to do jump higher than his body length and casually do backflips during episodes numerous times such as Madness Combat 5.5, Madness Combat 6.5 etc. in Madness Combat 9: Aggregation he jumped multiple yard away to a truck from his car and in Madness Combat 10: Abrogation he crossed several feet with a backflip to aim-dodge a shotgun blast. In Madness Combat 12: Contravention, he was able to kill a Half Mag midair with exceptional speed, after he was nearly ripped apart by two Half Mags. - Skilled Hand-to-Hand Combatant: Sanford is very skilled at hand to hand combat, being able to murder multiple enemies with ease and blocking blows from them, this was shown more in Madness Combat 5.5 and Madness Combat 11: Expurgation. - Weapon Mastery: Sanford has shown to be skilled and proficient in any type of weapon he gets his hand in. This especially applies to melee weapons, as in Madness Combat 5.5 he was able to stomp a small horde of agents with merely swords in a close combat battle and he has shown to be very adapted to his signature weapon, hook, especially showing skills with it in Madness Combat 9: Aggregation where he was able to block sword swings and effortlessly slaughter multiple agents with it. Meanwhile not shown same amount of proficiency and skill in firearms, he has still shown to be decent at using them. He has shown to accurately shoot firearms ranging from pistol to submachine guns during with merely one hand during numerous episodes. In Madness Combat 11: Expurgation he was able to shoot one of Tricky's skeletons in the head with a shotgun despite the fact that the skeleton was holding a ballistic shield that was covering almost his entire body and Sanford using the shotgun with his left hand meanwhile protecting himself by holding a shield with right hand. Sanford tends to use any kind of melee weapon whatever when it comes to firearms he seems to love more damaging weapons such as revolvers, shotguns and Bren guns. - Knowledge in bombs: In MADNESS: Project Nexus Sanford shown to be a demolition expert being the only one capable to set up explosive charges to destroy obstacles or objectives of importance. Sanford seems to be familiar with the mechanisms of explosive devices, since in one occasion during Climb!, he was able to craft jury-rigged C-4 after him and Hank were unable to find actual explosives. - Medical Knowledge: Sanford seems to possess medical knowledge, as he bandaged himself and Deimos in Madness Combat 5.5 and 6.5. Limited Durability: Sanford is extremely resistant to bludgeoning trauma, but not piercing damage, which is a problem as bullets cause harm to his body and he has to actively dodge them in order to not die. Sanford wears a black Du-rag and wears glasses. He is shown to have a lip. His torso is covered in bandages, and he wears Camo Pants. On his back, there is a Helix pattern tattoo. Sanford is a by-the-book serious soldier type, but from his in-game combat chatter, as well as voice acting, he seems to enjoy killing and finds it fun. He talks frequently with Deimos, and sometimes makes jokes. However, when it gets serious, he talks in a formal way. But, his voice lines are full of Sanford being a crazy maniac. He calls other people bozos, and is a momma's boy. - Sanford is one of three characters who have directly faced the Auditor in combat (along with Jesus and Mag Hank). - Sanford is the only protagonist not to have died in the canon series. - Krinkels said on his CuriousCat page that Sanford is "probably" his favorite character due to the fact that "he hasn't died yet." Due to the date this question was answered, it serves as indirect confirmation that Sanford survived the events of Madness Combat 11: Expurgation. - It has never been seen how Sanford exactly obtained his hook. It was obtained some time in between Madness Combat 6.5 and Madness Combat 7.5. - he Sun, Mag Hank, Mag Agent: V3, Demon, Sanford (in ANAMNESIS.fla), and the Auditor are the only characters without the facial cross. - The Sun, Jesus, Sanford, Demon, Deimos (in SACRIFICE.fla, ANAMNESIS.fla, and POWERLESS.fla), mustached characters, and zombies are the only characters to have a visible mouth. - In Madness Combat 11, Sanford is shown to cry in agony/frustration and appears visibly uneasy or weary. Aside from the Auditor and Jesus, this makes him the only character to canonically portray emotion via facial expression. - Krinkels confirmed that Sanford is taller than Deimos but shorter than Hank. - When asked if there are any plans for Sanford to become a superhuman like Hank and Deimos, Krinkels jokingly replied with: "Sanford can eat way more spicy chicken wings than both Hank and Deimos combined." - Krinkels has said that Sanford's a pretty basic guy, probably preferring sriracha or one of the oilier buffalo wing sauce, as "They're not of the mind to mess with things that work really well." - When asked on stream if Sanford was a former A.A.H.W. member like his partner Deimos, Krinkels responded that that question is better answered by being shown rather than being told. - Krinkels stated that in an arm-wrestling match between Sanford and Deimos, Sanford would win easily. - It was once asked on one of Krinkels' animation Twitch streams if all the grunts were naked as Sanford's body is the same color as a grunt's with there also being a tattoo on his back. He stated that the question was best left unanswered. - Krinkels has stated Sanford and Deimos have no last names. - Sanford's signature melee weapon is his hook. - Sanford ranks at fifth place among the top 5 physical strongest characters. - Sanford is voiced by Johnny Utah, who is best known for voicing the characters from the Newgrounds series "Tankmen", particularly Sergeant John Captain. - Before beta v1.13, Sanford didn't have his exclusive head textures. Without armor, he looked like a generic grunt. - Before beta v1.13, Sanford had flashbangs instead of his current grenades, while Deimos had Sanford's current grenades. - If one looks closely, you can notice Sanford opens his mouth as he talks during the beginning of his dialogue. He is one of the few characters in the game that does this, since he's one of few with a visible mouth. DEIMOS -------------------------------- Deimos is the tritagonist of the Madness Combat series who usually appears alongside Sanford. He has a bandaged head, wears a headset and visor, and has been seen wearing a vest with a white tank top underneath. His first chronological appearance in the series is in Madness Combat 5: Depredation. He appeared again in Madness Combat 5.5, 6.5, 7.5 & 9 as one of the protagonists. Deimos is also the main protagonist of the canonical 5-part spin-off series Dedmos Adventure. His most recent appearance is in Madness Combat 12: Contravention, where he is sent to save Sanford. He also made a cameo alongside Sanford during An Experiment. Deimos carries Hank's body for most of Aggregation And is also the one who resurrects him. It is hinted that he, Hank, and Sanford are part of some Anti-A.A.H.W. or Anti-Auditor rebel organization, for he is seen talking through his headset to an as-yet-unidentified person. The fact that they belong to their organization would explain why they didn't properly assist Hank in fighting Tricky in Madness Depredation, as they might have been going for another objective. As we see in Madness Combat 5.5 they have other business to deal with than helping Hank, though no proper goal seems to appear in either this episode or its sequel, Madness Combat 6.5. Compared to the likes of Hank and Sanford, Deimos seems to take his job less seriously, as illustrated when he flashes an agent a "Rock On" sign while killing him in Madness Combat 5.5 when he jokingly tries to scare Sanford by donning an A.T.P. mask and waving around a carbon knife in Madness Combat 9, when he dances before stealing the sunglasses of an agent which he then kills and later he dabs before brutally killing another agent again in DedmosRebuilt.fla when he taunts an agent by pointing at him after sticking a baton into his head in that same episode, and when he made and won a bet with Sanford in Incident: 100A. His carefree nature is especially shown in MADNESS: Project Nexus, where, for example, he asks Bandits to โ€œmove along and dance for another dayโ€. When Sanford explains how the Bandits will eat their bodies if they are defeated, he says Sanford would be a โ€big kielbasaโ€ to them. It is implied through text in POWERLESS.fla that Deimos is not very bright, as if he had taken the time to examine his surroundings and situation instead of rushing in, he would not have met his fate at the end of the short. In the next episode it's shown that he uses 8520 as his password, which on a standard numpad is input by swiping a line from top to bottom. Lastly, posters set about by 2BDamned chastise him for being impatient and impulsive. His personality, along with other traits discussed below, suggest Deimos is an ex-AAHW employee, potentially a former or aspiring Agent as he is shown to be fond of their shades. His general attitude seems to be quite cocky and arrogant through MADNESS: PROJECT NEXUS and even somewhat sadistic, this is best demonstrated when during the start of S-3LF Eater DLC after cyber bandit's death Deimos nonchalantly tells that he wanted to kill him first. Despite this he can be merciful to a certain degree, for example when he does not kill the Sheriff despite getting attacked by him and continuously leaves Church and Jorge alive after having several boss fights with them in the row. He also was genuinely disgusted and shocked when Hank betrayed Jebus and tried to end the world. It is also implied in SACRIFICE.fla that Deimos is very flippant and disinterested. As he falls perpetually through Purgatory he simply acts annoyed and smokes a cigarette rather than demonstrate any fear. He also seems to have a higher pain tolerance than Sanford, as shown in ANAMNESIS.fla, and SACRIFICE.fla, that his jaw, and many other parts of his face, are missing. However, while it seems that he is not in pain, Krinkels confirmed that "He felt pains of all varieties" while being in the purgatory dimension. Also shown in Madness Combat 5.5, Deimos survived being crushed by the Flying Party but was also shown to be in little, to no pain. Deimos, like Sanford and Hank, is very skilled in combat, as his profession requires him to be. However, unlike the more melee-savvy Sanford, Deimos prefers to use firearms and even explosives where he can, though Sanford is still considered to be better at handling explosives. This skill was especially useful in their earlier involvement in the story, where Deimos had to protect an injured Sanford until he could recover. His skill in firearms is at a point where he can accurately fire dual-wielded G36 assault rifles or an MG-42 from the hip with ease, a task that would be very difficult for most. His skill in explosives often sees him equipped with such weapons as the M203, flashbangs, or time bombs. All-in-all, his proficiency with ranged weapons and explosives allowed him to maintain a higher kill count than Sanford up until his death. His fighting style typically involves him taking the lead and charging in, without very much strategy. Given that this style is very similar to the fighting styles utilized by AAHW units, Deimos's fighting style was likely learned from his time in the agency. Another flaw he may have gained from the agency is his occasionally slow reaction time, which allowed him to be blinded by a flashbang and "Sanford" to be shot by an ATP Soldat. He failed to react to an enhanced ATP engineer entering the room in time, which would ultimately prove fatal for him. Deimos's most useful ability is his knowledge in the field of technology. From Madness Combat 7.5 onward, Deimos would be equipped with a headset, communications backpack, and PDA. The PDA was used to receive instructions for the team, and his headset and com-pack were utilized in Madness Aggregation to confirm with an unknown person that they had located Hank. With his former employment and experience in the AAHW, Deimos proves useful when it comes to accessing their technology, having been observed to input a code to unlock spike gates, using a terminal to get directions around a facility, and even being capable of using an Agent Magnification Chamber to revive and enhance Hank. Deimos is also often the driver of the two, driving their convertible, a truck, and even being capable of flying helicopters. Though not seen driving it, it is possible that he owned the sedan seen at the beginning of Madness Aggregation, given his angry reaction at its destruction; it's possible Sanford was driving so that Deimos could operate the tracking equipment. He also seems to possess somewhat incredible luck, escaping four near-death scenarios: being crushed by the Flying Party, nearly being crushed by another building, nearly being shot in the head by the engineer that shot Sanford, and accidentally dodging two potentially fatal shots from an A.T.P. soldat after being blinded by a flashbang. Initially Deimos, like Sanford, contained no special powers. He, along with Sanford, were ordinary grunts who just handed Hank a weapon. However in the spin-off series Dedmos Adventure, which chronicles his experience in Purgatory, Deimos changes significantly in the final episode, DedmosRebuilt.fla. After having his body continually broken down for the prior four episodes, it is renewed with stone covering his jaw, chest, and hands. This enables him to deliver especially harder-hitting punches, capable of leaving severely deforming and often fatal marks on bodies bigger than his own. He also gains magic abilities, able to summon stone spikes from the ground, or even magnify people, as he might have done accidentally with FellowD9. His endurance has significantly boosted, as he can now get up and fight fine after being slammed into walls hard enough to leave a crater. His agility and perception were also increased, as he is seen dodging punches, blows, and chains, and delivering hard hits with extreme ease. He can throw around enemies larger than him, spin, bicycle, drop-kick, and even slam or stomp enemies hard enough to firmly embed them into walls or floors. With all of this, Deimos' overall abilities in hand-to-hand and melee combat put him up to a level comparable to, if not greater than Mag Hank. In Madness Combat 12: Contravention, these powers and abilities were shown to have transferred with Deimos when he was brought back to Nevada. Interestingly, it also suggests Deimos's new form has now stunted his ability to use technology, as he is, rather uncharacteristically, very clumsy with his PDA, cracking the screen by dropping it and accidentally taking a screenshot of his chat with 2BDamned while recovering it. He also has the ability to produce a small spark / burning flame from one of his finger tips. While this was done simply due to there being no lighters in madness combat, itโ€™s still a power he has, even if it has no practical use in the series, only being used to light his cigarettes. In fact, he retains this ability even as Dedmos, as it shown in the Madness 12 when he drives to Sanford. Deimos has 3 different outfits he can unlock throughout Story Mode. Each outfit gives him a different amount of bonus corpus blocks. His main outfit is a coat atop a white undershirt, sneakers, and on his head a visor and headphones. The coat has belts that hold a radio backpack he wears on his back. His first alternative outfit has him wearing an apparel closer to what he wears in the animated series, having bandages on his body and a different, simpler coat and average shoes. - In Greek mythology, Deimos was the personification of terror - In Greek mythology, Deimos was also the brother of Phobos, the personification of fear. However, there's no connection between the two characters in Madness Combat. - Deimos translates to "Dread" in English - Deimos wearing Engineer's mask in Madness 9 possibly foreshadows his death from Engineer's hands in this episode. POWERLESS.fla even does an accent on it. - In Madness Combat 5.5 and Madness Combat 6.5, he has less bandages than Sanford, but seems to gain more in Madness Combat 7.5 and Madness Combat 9: Aggregation. - Before his death in Madness Combat 9: Aggregation and subsequent adventure in Purgatory, Deimos was the only main character to have received very few wounds. He had only experienced a small wound to the back of his head after being crushed by the Flying Party. However, in Madness Combat 7.5 and onward, Deimos is seen with more and smaller bandages on his head for unknown reasons. It is possible that some kind of accident happened between the events ending at Madness Combat 6.5 and the beginning of Madness Combat 7.5. Krinkels has said that he may reveal these events in another animation. It is also very possible this was at first to make it look better but Krinkels might decide to make this have another reason. - It is heavily implied that Deimos was a former member of the A.A.H.W. - In Madness Combat 6.5 and 9, he tries on some A.A.H.W. clothing, being a l33t outfit and a A.T.P. mask respectively. - In Madness Combat 10: Abrogation, his wanted poster lists one of his crimes as "betraying the cause", and another poster directly calls him a traitor. The second poster also reads "Can not reformat", in contrast to Sanford's poster reading "Will not reformat". - In Madness Combat 7.5, he is seen keying in a code to activate the spike gate. As this gate was in an A.A.H.W. facility, it supports the theory that he was a former member; additionally, it also shows that the A.A.H.W. never bothered to (or couldn't) remove his password from the system. - His rank in A.A.H.W. was most likely a l33t agent, given that his blood is shown to be red. - Despite this in MC5.5 and MC5 his appearance is that of an ordinary grunt, it is unknown why this is, but could also Deimos discarded his older clothes. - Deimos lights his cigarettes with a small flame on his thumb, which can be seen in several episodes. This is a nod to when Krinkels didn't incorporate lighters into the series; even after he implemented lighters, he kept Deimos' "flaming thumb" as a running gag. - At the beginning of Madness 5.5, one grunt is seen doing the same thing. - In one artwork, Deimos is shown alongside the Auditor, Hank, and Jesus, with all of them showing their special ability. The Auditor and Deimos can create flames, while Jesus and Hank can create lightning. - Deimos seems to like the M203. In Madness Combat 6.5, he acquired one at the halfway mark and used it for the rest of the animation. In Incident: 100A, he acquired an AR-15 with an M203 attachment and also used it for the rest of that animation. - Deimos has never interacted with Jesus in either canon or non-canon animations. - However, he does interact with him several times across MADNESS: PROJECT NEXUS. - During one of his animation Twitch streams, Krinkels confirmed that Deimos does not vape. - Krinkels said that out of Hank, Sanford, and Deimos, Hank would be the tallest, while Deimos would be the shortest. - When he was asked if Deimos felt pain while in hell, Krinkels said: "He felt pains of all varieties." - If Deimos were to be thrown by Hank, he'd go through a wall. - Krinkels has confirmed that Deimos is alive after purgatory. But only ostensibly, since "How alive can a rock even BE, right?". - Krinkels has stated that the stone that has attached to Deimos is integrated into his body, and thus breaking it would harm him. - Krinkels has said that if every major Madness Combat character were to get into a foot race without their powers, Deimos would probably be the winner. - In MADNESS: Project Nexus, Hank and Dr. Christoff have higher combined Endurance and Dexterity, meaning that their sprint speed (via the Athletics subattribute) is greater than that of Deimos. Deimos is still faster than Sanford, at least, and Christoff may be enhanced by his possession of the halo. - Krinkels (like most people) thought Deimos was gone for good when he made Madness 9. As said here. - Krinkels has stated Deimos and Sanford have no last names. - In Dedmos Adventures, the layout seems to be coming from Deimos' memory of the past, stated in a Krinkels Q&A - The reason why there was a bakery in SACRIFICE.fla was because he was remembering it, according to Krinkels. - Everyone was big in DedmosRebuilt.fla because Deimos felt that he was short, also stated by Krinkels. - It is believed that the reason Deimos died was because he smoked. Every other canon character who smoked died shortly thereafter. Krinkels himself said, "The moment Deimos lit up that cigarette, he was doomed to die." - In the Madness Combat 20th Anniversary stream, Krinkles stated Deimos was the youngest out of the main cast. - he in-universe reason Deimos's body was covered in rocks was "...because his very s3lf was being re-absorbed. There's a lot of him missing and doc did what he could." - Deimos' backpack contains communication/interface equipment and snacks. - Deimos had seen multiple design changes throughout the game's development - Prior to beta 1.13 Deimos didn't have his unique head texture. - Before beta 1.13 Deimos had hand grenades, while sanford had flashbangs. This is now reversed. - Unlike in Madness Combat cartoons, Deimos in M:PN doesn't smoke even once. Instead, he seems to be obsessed with fast food, mainly Burger Gil's trademark burgers, and commenting on how he imagines Sanford as a kielbasa sausage. TRICKY -------------------------------- Tricky's control of the Improbability Drive seems to have made him insane, or at least more twisted, power-hungry and wrathful than he was originally. Starting off as an assassin, Tricky's mind became more and more warped as he drew more power from the Improbability Drive, leading him to become a vicious, malevolent, power-hungry, and powerful foe. This is shown in Madness Combat 7: Consternation where he seems to constantly revive and kill Hank due to the fact that he was defeated several times prior. He seems to like music and sometimes serves as a DJ. He also seems to โ€œplayโ€ with Hank, reviving him when he died (and then murdering him again) several times throughout the Tricky arc, showing an extremely sadistic and vengeful way of thinking. He also armed Hank once during Madness Combat 6: Antipathy and never fought him while he was unarmed, presumably finding it more "sporting", he also waited for Hank to finish killing all of the Agents in Madness Combat 7: Consternation before chasing him in his demon form. He is also seen arming Hank throughout the series (either directly, or indirectly by leaving weapons behind) - and later, Sanford in Madness Combat 11: Expurgation. The reason for this fairness towards his opponents in spite of his incredible strength and murderous nature is because he believes that giving his opponents a chance is more fun. Despite apparently being a psychotic killing machine, Tricky has been shown to display civility at times, as he did not attack anybody at all or fight back against Hank during Madness Combat 4, and near the end of Antipathy, he was seen calmly buying a hotdog without attacking or even terrorizing the vendor. As of Madness Combat 11, it can be gathered through his seeming desperation at losing the halo that Tricky has become dependent on having power and improbability on his side, as without it he appears noticeably weaker and frantically seeks to reclaim it. It may also be that the halo, like the Improbability Drive, is necessary for Tricky's continued survival. Tricky's more playful side of tormenting his foes is shown as well, evidenced by him tapping Sanford on the shoulder from behind. Tricky also shows a โ€œplayfulโ€ type of guy since toying with Hank and seeming to play with the Auditor. Tricky, much like Hank, can use a variety of weapons, although he is best known for his trademark streetsign which he obtained in Madness Avenger when he was impaled on a giant marshmallow and after which he was reanimated by the Higher Powers. Most of Tricky's superhuman powers come from his Portable Improbability Drive, implanted by the A.A.H.W. to be a living weapon against Hank. Tricky has the ability to jump to warp heights and to evade anyone using a type of sudden burst of speed. His body is also able to withstand much more wounds than most of his foes'. Through the assistance of the Improbability Drive he seems to be able to revive himself and others at will. One of Tricky's most significant powers is his ability to turn into a giant, flaming demon. When Hank severely wounded Tricky in Madness Antipathy, the Improbability Drive transformed the clown into his demonic form. In this state, Tricky is far more powerful, gaining more strength and the ability to spit out fire. However, if the Improbability Drive is destroyed, Tricky would revert back into his original state. Another interesting aspect of Tricky is that his body, unlike those of other A.A.H.W. units, cannot be safely absorbed by the Auditor. At the end of Madness Abrogation, when the Auditor absorbed Tricky's corpse, their bodies violently rejected each other, causing the Auditor to explode. In Madness Expurgation, we see that this actually revived Tricky and was granted Jesus' halo from the Auditor, empowering him to a near-pinnacle level. His demon form was revived with a new skeletal appearance, and Tricky now had access to powers such as summoning weapons and enemies, including his own skeleton army, and even enabling him to control the twisted physics of Hell. These powers made him such an adversary that the Auditor was forced to ally with his main enemy, Hank, in order to stop Tricky. It is shown in Incident: 1000A that he has powers similar to Jesus, as seen when he is flying next to a helicopter. Tricky is an all-powerful being, thanks to the Improbability Drive. Some of his powers are shown in Madness Combat, however not much is shown in MADNESS: Project Nexus. - Teleport - Tricky has the ability to teleport, appearing and disappearing with a cloud of confetti. - Supernatural Movement - Next to teleporting, Tricky can jump or run extremely far. He doesn't seem to be phased by objects in his way. With the Improbaility Drive, Tricky is able to revive any dead corpse with ease. This is shown in Madness Combat 6, where he revives Hank after killing him. - Summon - He is able to summon any object, even buildings full of A.A.H.W units. - Demon - Shown in Madness Combat 7, when Tricky was shot everywhere on his body by Hank, he turned into a giant monster. His body is impenetrable, and can only be harmed through the Improbability Drive. Tricky's appearance represents a clown. He is a Zed, from his death in Madness Combat 3. From the Improbability Drive, he is constantly shaking. He has 2 red, horn-shaped hairs on the sides of his head. He wears a stone face slab with the eye holes glowing red. On the Tricky's jaw, the skin is always torn with red jaws underneath, implying he wears a green skin on top of his muscles. In Madness Combat, Tricky has the same color torso as an average grunt, sometimes torn to reveal his green skin underneath, implying he is wearing a gray piece of clothing, however in MADNESS: Project Nexus he wears his torn lab coat. It has the name tag Hofnarr on it. His underpants are also showing, with a heart shaped pattern on it. There is blood splattered on the coat. - Tricky holds the record for the highest number of canonical deaths of any character in the series, as well as the highest number of deaths in a single animation (4 deaths in Madness Combat 9.5 part 2) and 6 if both parts are counted as one episode. - There seems to be something special about Tricky since he benefits from the Improbability Drive's effects while Hank and Jesus only meet resistance from it. Judging by the posters he produced and put up in the facility in Madness Combat 7: Consternation, Tricky has a habit of writing gibberish and laughing through written words. - Tricky has never died in a non-canonical animation. - Without the Improbability Drive, he seems to be rather weak as evidenced by his quick defeat in Madness Combat 7. - This is supported by the fact that he was always quickly defeated in Madness Combat 2 and 3. - However, according to Krinkels, when Tricky's Improbability Drive was damaged, he didn't lose his powers, and that it merely "stunned" him long enough for Jesus to kill him. This implies that Tricky's exposure to Improbability was so high, it became a core component of his S-3LF. - There a number of theories as to what caused Tricky to destroy the Auditor. After being absorbed, he may have lowered the Auditor's defenses to make him vulnerable to the energies of the Normality Restoration. Tricky's energy may have also have changed after he fell out of the Auditor's employ or it was his rebellious and strong mind that let him overpower the Auditor. - Tricky is seen having zombie teeth in episodes beyond Madness Combat 4. However, in MC3 and MC4, he has his clown smile, but in the beginning of Madness Combat 4, he didn't get zombie teeth before Krinkels put zombie teeth on the new zombies when the text said "NO REASON". He just put a mask on, so it is unknown how he got the current zombie look though it was most likely just an error on Krinkels' side. - Due to an animation oversight, the bullet wounds Tricky sustained in Apotheosis are much larger at the start of Depredation and also has a larger hole in his mask. - The bullet wound on his glabella is possibly there to represent a clown nose. Tricky, Jesus, and Dr. Hofnarr are the only characters to visibly have hair. - Tricky (only in Tricky Madness 2), Jesus, the Auditor, the Sun, Demon, and enhanced l33t agents and A.T.P. engineers are the only characters to have visible eyes. - Tricky, the Sun, Jesus, Sanford, Demon, Deimos (in SACRIFICE.fla, ANAMNESIS.fla, and POWERLESS.fla), Hank (in Antipathy and Consternation), and zombies (from Apotheosis onward) are the only characters to have a visible mouth. - Tricky's online social name in Madness Combat 6.5 is "TriKurrDurr". This appears to be a pun on "tricorder", a fictional device in the Star Trek franchise. This could also be a reference to the internet slang "hurr durr". - Krinkels revealed in one of his twitch streams that Tricky's skeletal form in MC11 is based on the final boss Mr. Big from the arcade game NARC, specifically his second form. - Krinkels stated that Tricky is the most intelligent character in Madness Combat. This shows with Dr. Hoffnar, Tricky's old identity, who was a higher ranked scientist than Jedediah Christoff, and personally worked on the Divergence Engine, which Christoff claimed only Hoffnar's genius could understand. Tricky right now is the only character in the animated series to attempt basic audible speech - in Madness Combat 11: Expurgation he loudly screams at Hank, yelling his name out, though heavily distorted. The only other time any character made audible sounds were by being hit or punched. - He is also the only character to be fully voiced outside of MADNESS: Project Nexus, where he is the main speaker in MaD.NeSs, a secret audio file found in Madness Combat 9.5. - According to Krinkels, when Tricky's Improbability Drive was damaged, he didn't lose his powers, and that it merely "stunned" him long enough for Jesus to kill him. This implies that Tricky's exposure to Improbability was so high, it became a core component of his S-3LF. - According to Krinkels, Slaughter time is what inspired Dr. Hofnarr to become Tricky, due to their affection to entertainers/entertainment. - Tricky and The Auditor are the only characters to not wear bandages after being injured. - According to Krinkels, Tricky being capable of annoying and operating outside of The Machine is due to him being poisoned by dissonance. - In the Games Tricky's teeth appear sharper than others Zeds. This can be seen by looking at him from a side. It is now confirmed Dr. Hofnarr is Tricky, as seen in MADNESS: Project Nexus' mission, "Sleeper Labs". - The-Swain hinted that another major Madness character is present in Episode 1.5. - Hofnarr translates to "jester" in German and Norwegian. - The coding of Madness: Project Nexus refers to Dr. Hofnarr's character as "tricky2." Likewise, Dr. Christoff's character is named "jesus2." - Once in your party, his player icon will twitch every so often hinting at his demise. - In Madness: Project Nexus (Classic), there's a glitch that occurs when you go back to the room where Hofnarr was if you have him as company. The glitch is that there are two Dr. Hofnarrs in the room, one spawning inside and the original following you as company. Double Honfarr glitch. - Tricky, Hank, and Jesus are the only characters in the series to have a confirmed last name. - However, Tricky's first name has yet to be stated. - Hofnarr woukd genetically engineer catgirls into life, according to Krinkels. AUDITOR -------------------------------- The Auditor is the main antagonist of the Madness Combat series, first debuting in Madness Combat 7: Consternation and the master of the Improbability Drives. The Auditor is also the shadowy figure behind the creation of the A.A.H.W., a covert army founded specifically to kill Hank J. Wimbleton and his allies Sanford and Deimos, who he sees as threats to reality itself because of their endless killing sprees. The Auditor is shown to be extremely uncaring for his own minions, mercilessly slaying a grunt seemingly out of rage, as well as absorbing 2 agents to stabilize himself in Madness Combat 10. In some posters, he cancelled the parties during Madness Combat 5.5 and demanded that his minions go back to work, showing himself as a very strict and unforgiving boss. Additionally, the Auditor enhanced some of his minions, including agents and A.T.P. engineers, with powers that can presumably be a form of possession or brainwashing, possibly killing them in the process Despite his insensitive nature and strictness, the Auditor is not very formal, using slangs and generally informal vocabulary frequently in his own posters, as well as in his machinery (with sights like "OH SHI" written on his Improbability Drive). He also sometimes can be shown as cocky, for example when he danced over Jesus' demise. The auditor also seems to value his own goals over any type of personal values, allying with Hank, previously his main enemy, to take down Tricky in Madness Combat 11. The Auditor is able to instantaneously teleport himself at will, which is usually shown as him disappearing into a puff of black flame. In MADNESS: Project Nexus' post-credit scene, the Auditor and the rest of the Employers appear to teleport into Nevada from a different realm, which is supported by Christoff's reaction. The Auditor is able to summon seemingly any weapon at will, and has been shown creating various blades, SMGs, and even a rocket launcher. He can morph to be as flat and intangible as a shadow, and he appears to be immune to all forms of physical harm, like bullets and blades. During his first fight with Hank and Sanford, he was able to shapeshift into an elongated fist, then later into a dragon's head. The Auditor does not appear to have very good one-on-one or hand-to-hand combat skills, as when he fought Jesus in Madness Combat 8: Inundation, he is sent sprawling after a few seconds, and in Madness Combat 10: Abrogation, he is pummeled by Hank. He seems to be more skilled with weapons, seen by his use of swords and using a minigun as a long-range weapon. The Auditor is able to absorb other Nevadeans into his own body, which increases his size and regenerates any potential damage he had taken by that point. Although not shown often, the Auditor also has pyrokinesis, and can manipulate the flames that he summons from own body. He also can use this fire to destroy or even completely "erase" it's target, like he did it to table and Katana in MC 9. From own fire he can create buildings with grunts and even MAG-Agents inside it. It also was demonstrated in MC 12 that he can manipulate a "code" of alive beings and potentially change them. Adding to this, The Auditor evidently provided the "Prime Code" to Director Phobos, as Dr. Gonne in his notes mentions that prime code was given by "Phobos' mysterious benefactor", which indicates that The Auditor is able to affect The Machine itself, since The Machine was hinted to work on the prime code. The Auditor is a user of Improbability Drives, a group of powerful reality-warping devices that have been shown to have a multitude of diverse abilities. Enhancing his powers to an extensive degree. The Primary Improbability Drive, which was located within a building, was used to manipulate events to his favor, progressively upgrading his soldiers' abilities and infecting Jesus with a virus that severely weakened him and made him periodically cough up blood. - Before Madness Combat 8: Inundation was released, many people believed that the Auditor would turn out to be the Sheriff revived, but Krinkels stated that this was not the case. - According to Krinkels, the Auditor has always existed as a shadowy figure, and at no point in time was a regular grunt. He also says that the Auditor originated in Nevada (However, it is most likely outdated, considering Doc saying in his M:PN journals that Employers are angels who hail from "Some terrible place" and would "descend" into Nevada). - In Madness Combat 7.5, it was shown that the Auditor's online social name is "BIGBADAUD999." - When asked via Curious Cat on what the Auditor was drinking while at his desk in Madness 6.5 and 8, Krinkels revealed that the Auditor was consuming some type of sugary drink. He also revealed that due to the Auditor's bizarre body composition, consuming foods high in sugar are unable to affect him, meaning he can have as much as he wants. - As Krinkels was asked if the Auditor died when he absorbed Tricky or if he was just teleported to Hell, he answered "The Auditor got a little โ€œinvertedโ€ after absorbing Tricky in MC10, which explains why he appears in his own dimension. Auditor then wound up dragging Sanford and Hank as well." - Krinkels said the Auditor is named "the Auditor" because he thinks it's a cool word that doesn't mean something that cool. - When asked about Auditor's goal, Krinkels said, "The Auditor doesnโ€™t seek idolization. The Auditor is a living gateway to a Hell. His job is typically more custodial but Hank and Co. keep screwing things up, so the Auditor conscripted an army, the A.A.H.W., as a means to have access to an endless source of manpower." - In Madness Combat 12, one of posters in Auditor's Dimension (Presumably adressed to Sanford) says that "BRINGING ORDER IN THE SHATTERED WORLD IS MY GODDAMN JOB!", which explains his grudge towards Hank. - In Episode 11, Auditor on posters blames Tricky in that he "Destroyed Nevada". - Krinkels was asked if the AAHW fear the Auditor. In response he revealed that fear is not a good motivator for Nevadeans, and the AAHW mostly just stay out of the Auditor's way and seek to appease him for their own benefit. - Krinkels was asked about how the Auditor differs from the other Employers. He stated that while all Employers do business in Nevada, "Auditor IS unique in that they'll pick fights with the inhabitants. Auditor learned the hard way that lowering yourself in such a way is unwise. When will they learn?" - Krinkels was asked if the Auditor is superior to other employers. he states "I'd argue that the Auditor is inferior to the others, considering their proclivity for squabbling with mere mortal Nevadeans. But to compare and contrast them is super meaningless and based entirely on our own notions of what is valuable." - The Auditor's fighter-enhancing ability was used in two episodes - Madness Combat 9: Aggregation and Madness Combat 10: Abrogation. In the former episode he used that skill on two living A.T.P. Engineers who were using bullpup rifles, and in the latter episode he managed to enhance two dead Agents, who continued to fight unarmed - Despite popular opinion in the community and his appearance (and the ability to summon fire), the Auditor seems to be not made out of flame, but rather from some other non-physical material, Krinkels himself said that Employers are made out of some 4-dimensional material - Auditor (And Employers as whole) is likely based on christian angels, as Doc in his notes from Arena Mode refers to The Employers as "Dark angels" which is a direct term from The Bible. Alongside this, Krinkels also compared them to angels. - Krinkels compared the Employers to five-dimensional beings from superior plane of reality that no one can comprehend and mainly use avatars to interact in Nevada. However, Krinkels didn't exactly clarify if they are five-dimensional creatures. JEBUS -------------------------------- Jesus Christ, also known as Dr. Jebediah Christoff in the Madness: Project Nexus games before defecting from the AAHW, Jebus by fans as well in Madness Combat 6: Antipathy, and affectionately Jeb by Krinkels, is the tertiary antagonist of the Madness Combat series. Unlike most antagonists, he has also prominently featured as a protagonist, including Madness Combat 8: Inundation, Incident: 110A, Incident: 111A and for segment of Incident: 1000A. Jebediah has been killed 5 times in the canon (3 times by Hank, once by Tricky, and for the last time during the upstart of the Normality Restoration-this time seemingly permanently). He has killed hundreds of people in the series. Jesus has prominently starred in several Madness Combat games, including an appearance as a boss in Madness Interactive, a playable character in Episode 1.5 of Madness: Project Nexus (Classic), and one of the main characters in MADNESS: Project Nexus. Jebus has somewhat of a savior complex, as he mentions that "He purges the wicked", and "He shall be the instrument of Armageddon" in the beginning of Madness Combat 8: Inundation and Krinkels said that he has a skewed vision of good and evil. His personality was further expanded by games, in which he appears to speak with a polite, affable and intelligent but also somewhat conceited and self-imposed manner to people He also notably dislikes the constant violence going on in Nevada. Nevertheless, he will do whatever he deems necessary, as seen in flashbacks in MADNESS: Project Nexus, when he is willing to let Nexus City fall to prevent Phobos from causing worse damage to Nevada and is even shown to be occasionally sadistic to a degree. When he was killed by Tricky, he quit being a member of the AAHW, and presumably briefly quit participating in violence altogether in Madness Combat 6: Antipathy, as his only appearance was him peacefully raking leaves, possibly because he was tired of violence all the time, returning only in Madness Combat 7: Consternation and Madness Combat 8: Inundation to try and end the violence altogether by killing Tricky, Hank, and then attempting to kill the Auditor and initiate Normality Restoration, which he only succeeded in with the latter of two objectives. A recurring character trait of Jebus is his preference for high-caliber firearms, such as his Desert Eagle, which he later swapped out for a S&W 500, and for a long ranged weapon, he settles for a TAC-50 which he uses in Inundation and in Incident: 111A. Jeb is a master of gunfire and swordsmanship, and while seemingly less agile than Hank, he has a number of supernatural abilities that make him an especially dangerous opponent. Many of these supernatural powers seems to come from the halo on the top of his head. His most infamous power in the series is the ability to resurrect the dead. Up until Madness Combat 5: Depredation, he would often resurrect Hank's victims into zombies, in order to fight Hank. Although they do not possess better fighting skills, they are much more resistant to bullets than normal people. In the first episode, he has the ability to spawn a cross-shaped magic shield that can block bullets. In Madness Combat 5: Depredation, it is more of a transparent, smaller circular shield generated from his hand. In Madness Combat 8: Inundation, he uses a different type of magic shield: a circular red energy field that can capture incoming projectiles, allowing him to push wherever he wants. The poison the Auditor put in Christoff made his shields become smaller over time, which made the shields go from about the size of his body to slightly smaller than his head. The poisoning also made the shields increasingly opaque. In Incident: 110A, bullets would be immediately deflected off the red shield. In Incident: 1000A, he uses his ability to catch and manipulate projectiles, but no shield is shown. In MADNESS: Project Nexus he's able to surround himself with a giant shield (As seen during the Mag Agent: Gestalt boss fight) and can deflect incoming bullets just by extending own hands, similarly to how he stopped bullets in Incident: 1000A. In the aforementioned game he is capable of sending objects to another dimension and then summoning them back. Another of his abilities is his ability to seemingly disintegrate his enemies by casting and hitting them with a red beam either from his hands or eyes (which become red when he chooses to shoot it from his eyes). He has shown to be able to kill two people at the same time with this attack, but it is unknown if he can use it against any more. In Episode 1.5 of the Madness: Project Nexus Story Mode, Dr. Christoff gains the ability to fire Nexus bolts, which can disintegrate a weaker opponent. He can also release slam attacks in the same manner, which knock back and injure close-by foes. He is also shown to have incredible muscular strength. In Madness Combat 8: Inundation, he is able to lift and throw large, heavy crates at enemies without strain. Jeb is the only character who has been seen wielding and firing an assault rifle with one hand without suffering from a bad performance through the high recoil. Krinkels stated himself that Sanford could only properly control a Bren gun because of the bipod, while Jeb probably would have dual wielded them. Additionally, Jeb has the ability to summon certain weapons. In the first episode, Christoff summoned a cannon from thin air to use against Hank. Since Madness Combat 4: Apotheosis, this power managed to summon his signature Binary Sword, which appeared from behind his back. In both Madness Combat 5: Depredation and Madness Combat 8: Inundation, he summoned his sword from his hand. MADNESS: Project Nexus also proves that he can create variety of firearms, which he had done to assist his allies during their fight against Phobos, Jeb has the ability to use teleportation, which is shown in Madness Combat 3: Avenger and Madness Combat 5: Depredation, but it is used very rarely. The last supernatural power he displays is the ability to use telekinesis and levitation. Since Madness Interactive and Madness Combat 3: Avenger, he was shown to be able to float in mid-air. In the earlier episodes, His telekinetic powers were shown to be reliant on a lightning-like beam from his hands. In Madness Combat 5: Depredation, he used these beams to push back Hank and to retrieve his sword from a distance. In Madness Combat 8: Inundation, he continued to display his telekinetic power, only now lacking the lightning-based beam. He used this power to throw crates, rip apart Agents, and smash enemies into walls. In Incident: 110A and Incident: 1000A, he also used it to fire guns without physically holding them, although a little less accurately than if he was holding them normally. Dr. Christoff wears a white scientist labcoat with belts and a bandaged-up body. On his head, he has the iconic Nexus Artifact, also known as the Halo. On his face he has a pair of sunglasses. His skin is also darker than that of a normal grunt. - In later episodes, his skin tone is much darker. This could suggest he is a Gen 1 Nevadean. - He and Hank are only characters to have been both antagonist and protagonist in the canon series. - The main reason why Dr. Christoff is in Madness Combat to begin with is because Krinkels liked the idea of a "turbo pacifist" as a force of violent nature, mentioning Gandhi from the Civilization games. - According to Krinkels, Jebediah is a pretty violent guy (as we no doubt have seen) and doesn't strike him as a touchy feely type. - Krinkels has said Christoff is dealing with a significant amount of cognitive dissonance and he isn't nearly the hero he makes himself out to be. - Jebus has accumulated the largest number of names and nicknames, including JESUS CHRIST, Jeb, El Jesรบs, The Savior, and Dr. Jebediah Christoff. This is likely to underscore Jebus' role as a parody, rather than an attack on the real Jesus of Nazareth. - Jebediah and the Sheriff have gone to regular hell when they died, according to Krinkels. - In MADNESS: Project Nexus, it was mentioned that his face was stitched by Doc, meaning that the two could be allies. - It is theorized he is delusional and just believes he is a messianic figure while he is not, possibly due to mental illness. - Jeb's signature melee weapon is the Binary Sword. - It was never shown or known why Jeb stopped transforming and reanimating fallen victims into Zeds since Madness Inundation. Meaning to say, he would have reanimated dozens of Agents and A.T.P Engineers, even two of the MAG Agent V2s as well. - Likewise, in Madness Inundation, he subsequently lost the ability to teleport in Madness Inundation since Madness Avenger and Madness Depredation. - It could be possible for Jeb to potentially and mortally damage the Auditor in Madness Inundation if he had kept his telepathic lightning-like beam from Madness Combat 1 and 5 with him, though it is not yet confirmed. - Some expected Jeb to be revived back from the dead like how he did in Madness Combat 6.5 after being brutally beheaded by Tricky and with that, may potentially take the halo off the Auditor's head, though it was never shown onward and with Krinkels confirming he won't actually come back. - It is mentioned through Tricky's dialogue in Sleeper Labs that he and Christoff had teamed up to take on Hank at an unespecified place in time. It is unknown whether this is just a reference to the series, an event after Christoff's assasination of Phobos or an event during his time as a scientist. - The "Stalker.mp4" short teaser seems to imply Hank (whose Hand is seen stabbing a photo with Dr. Christoff in it) was hired by an unknown employer to take care of him. - Under Dr. Christoff's glasses, there's 2 black, empty eyeholes, similar to the ones in Madness Combat 8, except without the red spots in them. They are only visible to the player via modding the game or selecting the "Christoff" skin while using the mirror in the loft after completing Contract 3 of Arena Mode. - In the 3D M:PN teaser "On The Wall.mp4", red, glowing eyes can be seen behind Jebediah's glasses.
