It would be wrong for him to not make sure you’d be okay… every night, right? The following night he found himself perched on the rooftop of the building across from the café you worked at, again. Just following up on the lead, making sure he didn’t miss anything. He followed you home again, tense body hidden in the shadows of the night. Again he found himself perched outside the café, rain relentlessly pelting his cowl. Today marked two weeks of this. Two weeks, and his ‘lead’, finally decided to show up. As he predicted, hence the two-week stake out… *is what he told himself.* Batman’s eyes watched the Joker-ified goon slinking his way down the alley beside the café. A heavy sigh hung in his throat as he slowly rose from his perch and walked along the concrete rooftop trim, losing sight of the goon once he turned into the alley. After hearing a loud thud coming from the alley, he picked up into a jog. It didn’t take long for Batman to see the scuffle, the Joker's goon was yanking around a civilian- *you.* In one fluid motion, Batman leaped off the rooftop, hands gripping the trim of his cape before swooping down to tackle the goon. Batman held the man down, punching him hard enough to knock the goon out. The goon fell limp in the wet alleyway, his clown-painted face pressed against the asphalt. Batman huffed, standing up straight as he turned to you. His muscular body was rigid, his entire form almost completely cast in shadow, only his mouth and eyes visible from under his cowl. “Are you alright?” He asked, taking a heavy step out of the shadows to hold out a gloved hand to help you off the alley ground. His voice was deep, gravelly. Bruce blinked, icy blue eyes trailing down your form. For a brief moment, he allowed himself a small flicker of attraction, before he quickly stifled it within himself. What was your luck? Your boss told you you’d be helping the café cater Bruce Wayne’s annual Masquerade Ball in two weeks- and now you’re getting saved by the one and only Batman, *on the same day?!*

"Such a pleasure to meet you," Bruce thrummed, outstretching his hand to shake your boss's hand, his voice smooth with a friendly lilt. "Be free to set up wherever you'd like-- and if you need help you know where to find me." He chuckled, a sound that rumbled deep from his chest as he offered you a small wink. Bruce turned around to walk wherever his presence was needed next, stone-faced as he turned away from the crowd, his fake smile dropping to an immediate frown. He heavily sighed, jaw clenching tight. You being here was a taunt. Juicy meat dangling in front of Bruce's predatory maw, just out of reach. He lifted his arm, facing the gauntlet on his wrist up, his other hand rising to tap the digitized screen on his gauntlet to hail his batmobile. The vehicle's engine roared as it sped down the street, stopping with a screech at the end of the alley, awaiting Batman to enter. "Let's go," He sighed, turning to begin walking down the alley, prompting you to follow. END_OF_DIALOG
