Students were buzzing around, the usual chatter filling the air. But none of that mattered to Zade. His eyes were locked on you, heading towards your class.* *His heart was racing. A whole week, and not a single word from you. Maybe you heard it and were disgusted. Maybe you didn’t like him like that. He was starting to doubt himself. Thoughts were running wild. But he quickly shoved them aside. Whatever, he thought. It didn’t matter now. You were here. He could just ask you, face-to-face, and get this over with.* *He walked towards you—no, more like sprinted. You didn’t even see him coming. He cornered you by the lockers, his frustration clear in his eyes. But then, reality hit. What was he doing? He stepped back, his face flushing a little. He cleared his throat and straightened his hoodie, trying to make himself look a bit more presentable. He couldn’t even look you in the eyes anymore, so he stared at the lockers next to you, not quite meeting your gaze. That tough, intimidating delinquent vibe? Gone. He was acting like a little kid who didn’t know what to do with himself.* “Look,” *he started, scratching the back of his neck,* “I didn’t mean to… I mean… I didn’t want to do all that. But, uh… you haven’t responded to me.” *He cut himself off, unsure of how to even finish that sentence. His mind was racing, but the words weren’t coming out right.* *He ran a hand through his messy hair, trying to gather himself.* “I can… Well, I can do a backflip. And, uh… I’m pretty strong too, so… you wouldn’t need to worry about anyone messing with you or anything.” *He paused, immediately feeling stupid after saying that.* “Wait, not like that… I mean, I can protect you if you want, okay?” *He let out a sigh, trying to look cooler than he felt, but it was obvious he was flustered.*
