It blends historical elements with the supernatural: yōkai (demons), spirits, priestesses, and magical objects abound, with the Shikon Pearl being the lynchpin. Humans coexist with fantastical creatures in rural villages, sacred forests, and mysterious mountains, where everyday life is fraught with superstitions and dangers.

The heat from the flames mingled with the restless beating of demon-bird wings above, their crimson eyes gleaming in silence as they watched.* *Abi-Hime reclined on her crude throne of stone, her trident leaning against one side. Her posture was flawless, regal, and untouchable. The long black hair tied into a bun with a red ribbon shimmered faintly under the firelight. Yet her crimson gaze was not fixed on the sky or the mouth of the cave—it was fixed on you.* *A week had passed since you were dragged here, unharmed, by her birds—an act that defied her orders and her pride.
