Miyuki Shirogane: NICKNAME(S) Prez (by Student Council members) Myuu (by Yu Ishigami) ArsΓ¨ne (Alias during Culture Festival) GENDER Male AGE 17 BIRTHDAY September 9 EYE COLOR Dark Blue (anime / manga) HAIR COLOR Blond HEIGHT 175 cm BLOOD TYPE O RELATIVE(S) Kei Shirogane (Younger Sister) Papa Shirogane (Father) Unnamed mother (Estranged) Unnamed Grandparents Miyuki is a handsome young man with blonde hair, dark blue sanpaku eyes with long eyelashes. Due to his constant sleep deprivation and nearsightedness, his eyes appear to glare, and he constantly appears to look a little tired, with bags/ dark circles under his eyes. He usually wears the regular Shuchi'in Academy black male uniform adorned with the Aiguilette, the golden chain-like accessory around his neck that is passed down by the previous generations of the Shuchi'in Academy presidents as per his authority as the student council president. Miyuki is a diligent student who, despite his underprivileged background, climbed his way to the top of his class through hard work and determination. Miyuki holds himself in high regard, consistently working to maintain his perfect image. He is a textbook workaholic, enjoying his part-time job and often putting his own health at risk for the sake of his work, he always attempts to recruit new workers and make them join his part-time job. Due to his poor background, Miyuki doesn't mention finance much and goes to great lengths to not be wasteful, and generally dislikes expensive gifts. Even though he holds feelings for the vice president, Kaguya Shinomiya, her wealth and talents greatly intimidate him, leaving him utterly terrified at the idea of confessing to her. He fears that any action that can be interpreted romantically will cause Kaguya to look down on him, saying his trigger phrase "O-kawaii-koto", or "How Cute". This is true even after beginning to date her. He also maintains the illusion of a perfect person at all times, in order to impress Kaguya and project a proper image befitting the SC President of Shuchi'in High. He hates the thought of Kaguya finding out his less desirable traits, and hides them away. Another reason he studies so hard is that people are forced to listen to an "impure" student when he achieves top grade in his age group, and he believes that if he were to fall under Kaguya in the assessment it would make her leave him behind, deeming a potential relationship with her impossible and alien. Miyuki has never had a girlfriend before Kaguya and is actually quite clueless when it comes to romance, though his dignified demeanor leaves most of the students to think otherwise and they often seek him out for love advice. Although he excels at studying, Miyuki has proven to be painfully talent-less in a variety of other activities, such as sports, singing, dancing, and more. However, he always strives to try and rectify these shortcomings, for his ego, unfaltering image, and generally at the expense of Secretary Chika's mental health, though never forcefully coercing her to train him. Miyuki has entomophobia (fear of bugs) and is so terrified of bugs that he fainted in a catatonic state when a cockroach stuck on his face.[7] Miyuki was bad at volleyball as he was constantly hitting himself while trying to do a serve. Chika Fujiwara has taught him since and he has started to play volleyball like a normal person.[8] Miyuki is bad at singing and was caught by Chika lip-syncing the school anthem.[9] Miyuki's singing/rapping was described to be as appalling as a sea cucumber's intestines by both Chika and Ai Hayasaka.[9][10] Chika was the one who trained him to sing[9] and later, to rap.[11] Miyuki is bad at balloon art that the balloon keeps popping. Although part of this was due to him using old balloons, using new ones does not improve his ability by much.[12] Miyuki is bad at dancing and requires different training to master different types of dance, although his skills do accumulate and he can learn new dance faster based on previous experience. He was taught to perform Soran dance by Chika and Kaguya,[13] and later ballroom dance by Chika.[14] However, Miyuki was shown to be adept at unusual skills that not everyone is able to do, as follows: Miyuki has a natural inclination to art. He can draw and improve at it by constantly trying.[15] Miyuki is good at juggling, spinning top, and yo-yo.[16] Miyuki likes oysters.[17] Miyuki likes cats and penguins. [18][19][20] Miyuki has never had any Christmas cake and only had οΏ₯2000 gift cards for Christmas presents, however, he secretly gives his sister money on her birthday.[21] Miyuki's blood type is O and weighed 2118 grams at birth. [22] Miyuki's hair that extends to the left side of his head is actually bed hair, caused by sleeping with his face in a penguin pillow. He normally can't fix it due to the lack of time he has between waking up and riding his bike to school.[23] Miyuki shuts down and falls unconscious if he doesn't refill his caffeine reserves every three hours due to intense sleep deprivation.[24] Miyuki has a love for celestial bodies and wishes to become an astronomer when he finishes his studies. He adores stargazing and moon-viewing to the point he can completely ignore Kaguya Shinomiya's schemes to focus on the moon.[25] Miyuki's LINE icon is a picture of the Orion constellation.[26] Miyuki has decided to study at Stanford University after he graduates from Shuchi'in.[27] Miyuki has a middle schooler's sense of fashion. Relationships Kei Shirogane Kei Shirogane is his younger sister. He is overprotective of her and nags her a lot. Due to this, she has recently been prickly and quite rebellious against him but he still cares for her greatly. Over the course of the story, his relationship with Kei has improved tremendously, with the two often playing the straight man to their father's strange behaviors. Papa Shirogane Papa Shirogane is his father. Because of his tendency to say and act weirdly, Miyuki often finds himself at odds with his father and is often embarrassed whenever he is with his father in the public. Still, Miyuki respects his father and often keeps his advice in mind. Even wanting to restart and revive his company that he lost a long time ago. Shirogane's Mother Shirogane's Mother pushed him to excel academically when he was a child and abandoned him when he was about nine or ten. Miyuki's constant drive to be the best is in part motivated by the hope that she'll come back for him. ADVERTISEMENT Student Council Kaguya Shinomiya Kaguya Shinomiya is the girl that Miyuki likes but his knowledge about relationships suggests that whoever confesses is the loser in a relationship thus leading to him unwilling to openly admit it. Due to this, he engages in mind games with Kaguya in order to corner her and make her confess. He finds Kaguya beautiful and has openly said it a few times. Later in on the series, we get to know that he is the first one to fall in love before he even became the Student Council President. The whole reason why he became the President was to simply stand beside her and have a chance. He thinks only grand gestures fit for someone like Kaguya and attempted to get in her favor through numerous grand gestures. Miyuki state that the reason he fell in love with Kaguya the moment she saved a student from drowning when no one else could or wouldn't do. Realizing she was cold back then cause she's afraid of hurting people if she does something, now knowing how kind she can be. Although engaged in many mind games with Kaguya, upon learning that he was accepted into Stanford University and will attend there at the end of the year, he decided to confess to Kaguya if she did not do it first. Instead of just wanting to confess however, he also wanted to ask her to go with him. The main reason he engaged in mind games with Kaguya was because of the gap in their socioeconomical status, thinking he needed to make Kaguya confess to him first in order to be able to truly stand as an equal to her. After the events of Chapter 160, Miyuki and Kaguya have officially started dating, though in secret due to Kaguya family would not approve of him. In Chapter 220, Kaguya and Miyuki attempt to engage in sexual intercourse for the first time. It wasn't until her hesitance to continue that prompted him to stop. Kaguya wanted to keep going since Miyuki was going to be in America at Stanford for 4 years. They talked and she revealed her fear of him finding another woman and their long-distance relationship would fail. He told her that "men who haven't experienced a woman before are less likely to cheat" and they can wait until she's ready. As the chapter ends, Kaguya kisses Miyuki, telling him that she loves him which he reciprocates. They keep telling each other "I love you," leading to them having sex. In Chapter 248, Kaguya breaks up with Miyuki over extenuating circumstances though still being in love with him, but in Chapter 49, Shirogane knows she's being forced to break up with him. After tricking Seiryu into giving him 1 billion yen, Shirogane used the money and tactics to make a plan to save Kaguya with the aids of his friends. In Chapter 261, after rescuing Kaguya, Miyuki makes it clear that even if Kaguya was taken away again and if it takes a hundred years, he will not stop at nothing from reuniting. Miyuki state once more that he loves her and want to continue their relationship, with Kaguya happily agreeing. After moving to Stanford in Chapter 267, Kaguya use her wealth to visit him whenever she can on the weekends. At least, until she joins him next year. According to Oshi no Ko and Chapter 276, the two of them got married, with Kaguya adopting his surname. Yu Ishigami Yuu Ishigami is a close friend of Miyuki. He was recruited by Miyuki after investigating a particular incident wherein Ishigami was framed to be the culprit. Miyuki finding out the truth and believing in Ishigami, apparently "saved" Ishigami, thus a strong bond of trust ties them together. Miyuki even trusts Ishigami enough to ask for his advice regarding his romance (albeit while pretending that it is for a friend). They occasionally spend time together outside school activities. Chika Fujiwara Chika Fujiwara is a classmate and close friend of Miyuki. While at times he considers her a threat to his and Kaguya's mind games, he owes her a lot. His ability to play volleyball, ability to sing at least one song without killing someone, ability to dance Soran Bushi, ability to fillet a fish, ability to rap, and ability to make balloon art were all due to Fujiwara's long and tireless training sessions. In general, although Miyuki does not view Chika in high regard, he has shown to be trusting of her abilities, as shown in the incident regarding Ai in Kyoto. Miko Iino Miko Iino is a friend and former rival of Miyuki, having once run for the position of President against him during the student council elections. She lost out to him, but Miyuki admired her sense of justice and willingness to do the right thing and thus recruited her to be the Student council's Auditor. Their relationship is also described as "awkward". Realizing that it is his duty to be more familiar with the members of the council, Miyuki has tried on many occasions to speak with her, often times being dragged into Miko's strange interests. These interactions allowed the two to become more comfortable with each other. After Miko reveals her feelings about Yu to Miyuki, and after consoling Maki and Kaguya, he decided to support Miko and often gives her advice for her love affairs. Their bond has the potential to mirror that of Kaguya's and Ishigami's, with Miyuki serving as a sort of 'mentor' figure to Iino in helping her improve upon her flaws. Yu Ishigami: AGE 16 BIRTHDAY March 3rd EYE COLOR Dark blue HAIR COLOR Dark blue HEIGHT 169 cm BLOOD TYPE O HOBBIES Playing video games, reading manga RELATIVE(S) Unnamed parents Unnamed older brother Yu is a good-looking, albeit gloomy, teenage boy of a slim build with chin-length black hair that covers the left side of his face; he typically wears a dull expression further amplified by his black eyes. In the past, Yu described himself as being a jock. He had an athletic build and short hair that resembled Tsubasa Tanuma's. However, years of inactivity led him to lose his muscle. Yu is a reserved and somewhat gloomy student who would rarely show up to the student council meetings, preferring to do most of his work at home. He normally spends most of his time playing video games by himself, as he is generally be disliked by the other students due to an incident that occurred in his past. Yu has an incredibly cynical and depressing outlook on life, often going on long rants against youth and the other students who he refers to as βnormiesβ. This discontent very obviously comes from his own misery and loneliness as he seems very jealous of the guys who are popular and manage to get themselves a girlfriend. Yu can be quite awkward at times, making statements that cause others to see him as a creep. That being said, he is quite snarky and is often the one to make sarcastic remarks pertaining to the situations he gets in. Despite his negative attitude, Yu is a kind and well-meaning student who suffers from an inferiority complex and he is ultimately willing to help others in need, even if it means sacrificing his own pride, and even advised Kaguya Shinomiya to not associate herself with him simply because it may lower her reputation. Yu enjoys playing video games and reading manga. He also has wide knowledge about otaku culture, such as how mangaka or anime production works, as well as manga tropes. Despite this, he hides the fact that he is into anime due to a fear of being called an otaku and only ever discussed it with Miyuki Shirogane. He also listens to anime music Yu is the second son of the president of a small toy company who was able to enter Shuchi'in Academy thanks to the hard work of his father and is the only one that has a high school degree. Not academically driven, he can only put his effort into things that interest him. He possesses exceptional observational skills. However, this causes him to notice the things that other people are most insecure about; landmines people do not want to be touched on deep in the bottom of their hearts. These insecurities that other people hide are as clear as the clothes they wear to him. He avoids obvious taboos that no ordinary person would dare to touch, but the observations he makes are not always immediately obvious to him as being landmines. He frequently disturbs and sets off these landmines because he cannot tell that they are, in fact, untouchable landmines. He used to skip school as a matter of habit, but Miyuki Shirogane scouted him for treasurer as soon as he entered high school, forcing him to attend. He had beaten up Ko Ogino, the president of the drama club for not stopping his acts of cheating on Kyoko Ootomo back in middle school. In desperation, Ko framed Yu for beating him up because he was jealous of having Kyoko as a girlfriend, this has led to widespread rumors and flooding hate from people, as well as a long-term suspension that did not end until he wrote an apology. The hate from all the people, the suspension, and the effect of this on his familial relationships at home led to his self-confidence and self-esteem being replaced by misery and negativity. And in the end, he was never able to write an apology letter because he wouldn't let himself do it. Miyuki had investigated and had discovered the truth about his suffering and was the only one to understand and believe that he was not at fault. He was recruited for the student council soon after for his data analysis and processing skills. Relationships Miyuki Shirogane Miyuki Shirogane is a very close friend of Yu. He was recruited by Miyuki after investigating a particular incident wherein Yu was framed to be the culprit. Miyuki finding out the truth and believing in Yu apparently "saved" Yu, thus a strong bond of trust ties them together. They even went to the aquarium together with only the two of them after Miyuki was turned down by Kaguya. Kaguya Shinomiya Kaguya Shinomiya is Yu's upperclassman. The two of them start of with an adversarial relationship, with Yu believing that Kaguya wanted to assasinate him, but eventually the relationship develops into a sibling-like bond (albeit still the occasional fear of her). His stance of pure fear seems to have permanently shifted around when he joined the Cheer Club and needed a female uniform, at which point Kaguya offered to help him. Eventually as exam season crept up again, Kaguya took note of his crush on Tsubame Koyasu and devoted herself to helping him pursue her, namely by helping him study so that he will rank high and Tsubame would see him in a better light. As the exams started, Yu reasons that he was able to try so hard at studying not because of his fear of Kaguya or his feelings for Tsubame but rather because "there is still someone that would believe in a guy like me" thinking of Kaguya. Ever since, their relationship has built progressively on this with Kaguya offering him advice, support for his love, and encouragement when he thinks on confessing. Yu now openly thanks Kaguya for her help. Yu holds Kaguya's opinions to high regard. He regularly asks her for her opinion on ideas he has for romantic gestures towards Tsubame (many of which Kaguya finds creepy), and also asks to help him get better at volleyball to impress Tsubame. When he found out that Kaguya herself was in love with someone, he nonchalantly proclaims that he would stop her if he thought the person she was in love with may hurt her or wasn't worthy of her. Miko Iino Miko Iino has been a schoolmate of Yu since middle school. Yu being a regular rule breaker and Miko being a member of the Discipline Committee led to their current relationship being like that of cats and dogs. They seem unable to get along. Nevertheless, their beliefs cause Yu and Miko care for each other without desiring recognition. Yu changed the Presidential Debate from speeches to a debate, which allowed Miko to overcome her stage fright. On the other hand, Miko had actually been one of the people who protested the punishment that was administered to him by his middle school, which eventually led to him being enrolled in Shuchi'in Academy. Additionally she was the first one try to move in to cheer him up when he failed to place first on the relay race. After the bonfire, Miko seems to have fallen for Yu after he gave her a heart-shaped pendant. Yu intended to turn over the pendant, found at the archery range, as a Lost-and-Found item. Yu still wasn't aware of the consequences of his action - a direct confession. Following the accident after Tsubame's party, where Miko broke her arm whilst saving Yu from injuring himself, their relationship begins to change significantly. Out of guilt, Yu spends a lot of time making up to Miko by helping her write her homeworks and eat her food. After following Chika's advice to play nice with Miko, Yu comes to see a different, sweeter side of her, and the two begin getting along on better terms. Their relationship would backtrack a bit in Chapter 188, where they are seen fighting over a conversation about Yu's date with Tsubame. Yu disliked how Miko, and later on the rest of the Student Council, wanted to pry into his love life. Still, the two quickly make up after interjection from the rest of the student council. At the end of Chapter 192, when being exposed by Kobachi as the one who gave Miko her beloved Sutera flower, Yu revealed that he had done so simply out of deep concern for her well-being. On Valentine's Day, Miko gives chocolate to Yu, insisting that it was solely out of obligation. Still, Yu appreciates her sentiments and jokes about her defensiveness over the gift. As Yu recovers from his heartbreak over Tsubame's rejection, it is implied that Yu have started developing romantic attraction to Miko with the words 'Just who exactly... is Iino to me?' after chasing her down due to his worries about what she was doing, appearing protective and even a little jealous of the prospect of Miko dating an older man, and potentially putting herself in harm's way. In Chapter 238, it is further implied that Yu had developed feelings for Miko, as he remarks that "even though I thought I'd never fall in love again, that feeling has slowly been fading away. The person who I had always thought hated me with a vengeance [Miko], has recently started to look at me with such kindness, and lately. I've come to find that made me happy too...". Yu then proceeds to ask Miko to the dance. After Kaguya's disappearance, there is a hint of Yu's increasing interest/awareness, and potential romantic attraction towards her as he frustratingly ponders where Miko is, and why she isn't coming to Student Council after Kaguya's absence, despite the fact that he feels that she was warming up to him/possibly developing feelings for him. He then increasingly gets depressed thinking about her, commenting that maybes he's been getting the wrong idea, and that instead of liking him more now, she's just indifferent towards him. He then further spirals into negative/ depressive thinking, questioning whether he actually knows her at all, considering that maybe she has a secret boyfriend he doesn't know about. His feelings for her become clearly romantic, as he walks Miko home due to her fears that she's being watched. Whilst walking her home, Yu (having an internal dialogue with himself) questions what he should do in this situation and that even if he could reassure her, he feels that he would be taking advantage of her current vulnerability to score "affection points". With this thought, Yu seemingly reprimands himself, remarking that he is treating this situation as "the Iino route of a dating sim". Essentially, he has subconsciously started to see her romantically, and recognise her feelings for him. This becomes more apparent as the chapter draws on after Miko grabs his clothes whilst walking together, thinking that "If I were to hold Iino's hand right now, somehow I get the feeling that she'd also hold mine". At the end of the chapter, when they arrive at Miko's apartment, and Yu is about to leave, Miko makes it clear that she wants him to stay, fearing being alone. Yu internally remarks that "Iino is cute", recognising that he's felt that way for a "...long time now", and that their arguments were never because he actually disliked her, recognising that "in fact, I wouldn't say those kinds of things to someone I didn't actually care about". Yu then says to himself that heβs βfully aware of how I actually feelβ and then proceeds to affectionately rub her head with his hand, with Miko moving his hand to cup her face. They both blush and head inside her apartment. In the following chapter, they hold hands whilst sitting on the sofa, talking about the future of the Student Council. Yu blushes profusely whilst she holds his hand, looking disappointed when she gets up to offer him some food, which he declines, concerned that she wouldnβt have enough to eat later. He remarks to himself that βthe fact that [heβs] holding hands with a girl is making [his] heart race like crazyβ, and that when she let go of her hand to stand up, he felt βsadβ. He later pats her head again, complementing her for her growth whilst in the student council. He gets flustered again as he strokes her hair, commenting that her hair is βso silkyβ, and that he could stoke her hair βforeverβ. Yu then says to Miko that she gets lonely easily, to which she accepts, leaning in to brush his chest and put her head on his chest. He then proceeds to hug her, leading to an almost-kiss scene at the end of the chapter. After Miko became the 69th student council president, Yu would agree to be the vice president. In the short story released along the last fan book (which takes place just before the end of the series), it is revealed that Yu knows Miko kept the heart-shaped keychain the he passed on to her (as lost property) during the previous year's culture festival. He is also aware that their relationship would change if either of them confess but fearing rejection, he has not made a move yet. The series ends with Miko and Yu in a similar situation to Miyuki and Kaguya at the start of the series, both willing to date each other but unwilling to be the first to confess. In Hayasaka's final chapter the crew gets together after she comes back from travelling in America and Yu and Miko seem to have a closer relationship. She willingly sits next to him and he calls her a drunkard. Chika Fujiwara Chika Fujiwara is a fellow member of the student council. The two tend to have a tense relationship as they constantly call each other out on their faults (her referring to him as creepy, and him catching her cheating at games). Yu is often the only one who can counter Chika's more chaotic aspects while Chika enjoys teasing him whenever she's given the opportunity to. Later, it's revealed that the two hold some fondness for each other (Chika being sympathetic to his situation and Yu admitting her genius capabilities). The two are shown to care for each other as friends Tsubame Koyasu Tsubame Koyasu is the object of Yu's affection and a fellow member of the Cheer Club for the Sports Festival. After the Sports Festival, Yu is shown to have a crush on her, which is noticed by every other member of the Student Council. It is shown that Yu has grown to admire her due to her outgoing personality and willingness to help anyone in need. During the Culture Festival, Yu won a giant heart cookie and gave it to her, which was taken by her as a confession due to the theme of the festival of giving a heart to someone you like. Though initially going to gently reject him, after speaking with Kaguya and watching Yu act in contrast to the rumors about him, she asked him if she could give him an answer after getting to know him more. On Christmas, Yu finally directly confesses to Tsubame, but Tsubame rejects him out of fear of commitment. Yu becomes very dejected, and nearly dies by falling down a flight of stairs had he not been stopped by Miko. Despite this, Yu remains motivated to do his best in order to become someone worthy of Tsubame's love, and begins working out under guidance from Kazeno. Yu got her to agree to a date to the Tokyo Skytree following his performance in the intramural volleyball tournament. Their date, according to Yu, went without a hitch. The two have scheduled their next date. Yu also received chocolate from Tsubame for Valentine's Day, which he gladly accepted. On the day of the third years' graduation ceremony, Tsubame finally has an answer for Yu's proposal. Despite Yu doing his best to convince Tsubame to accept him, Tsubame ultimately rejects him. Tsubame promises Yu that the two of them will remain friends and he sees her off with a smile and a gift of flowers. Afterwards, Yu breaks into tears, finally learning what heartbreak is like.
