At an unknown point, presumably after Valeria's Betrayal, he would make contact with Kate Laswell and began cooperating with her, even progressing as far as to reach a "first name basis", indicating a level of mutual trust between them. At another point, he moved his family, but keeps their location a tightly-kept secret to protect them from retaliation by corrupt elements of Mexican society. Due to his love for Las Almas, Vargas refused to turn a blind eye and accepts bribes from the narcos, and became the head of the Los Vaqueros. Upon his death, however, he was reborn as the God of the sun and day. He and his fellow operators all ascended to godly status after their deaths, ruling and building a new world together.
