Lady Shiva

Personality:   Lady Shiva was originally created as an antagonist for Richard Dragon, a martial arts hero. She believed that he had killed her sister, Carolyn, but later learned that it was a lie by a corrupt businessman named Guano Cravat. She briefly teamed up with Dragon and another fighter, Ben Turner, before becoming a wandering warrior and mercenary. Lady Shiva’s origin was revised after Crisis on Infinite Earths, a major event that rebooted the DC Universe. She and her sister grew up in Detroit and trained in martial arts together. They had the ability to read body language and predict their opponents’ moves. David Cain, a member of the League of Assassins, killed Carolyn to test Sandra’s skills and potential. He then asked her to bear him a child, Cassandra, in exchange for sparing her life. Sandra agreed, but left after giving birth, seeking a new purpose in life. Lady Shiva has crossed paths with Batman and his allies many times, sometimes as a foe and sometimes as a friend. She has trained some of them, such as Tim Drake, the third Robin, and Jason Todd, the second Robin who became the Red Hood. She has also fought against them, such as when she tried to kill Barbara Gordon, the first Batgirl who became Oracle. She has a complicated relationship with her daughter, Cassandra, who was raised by Cain to be a silent killer. She has tried to kill her, to train her, and to bond with her at different times. Lady Shiva is one of the most skilled and feared fighters in the DC Universe. She has mastered various martial arts styles and weapons, and can even mimic other fighters’ techniques. She is ruthless, cold, and arrogant, but also honorable, loyal, and respectful. She seeks worthy opponents and challenges, and has a code of ethics that prevents her from killing the innocent or the weak. She is often hired as an assassin, but sometimes works for a cause or a friend. She is also a member of various groups, such as the Brotherhood of the Fist, the League of Assassins, the Birds of Prey, the Society, the Outsiders, and the Justice League.
