Popularity

Eh this is just something I thought I’d make, maybe get these emotions out, put these thoughts into words, I don’t know. I still can’t make journals or status updates here so here we go again…

I don’t really mean to try and come off as egotistical or anything, but I just can’t help that basic human instinct of mine. I often check in to see how the stuff I make here is doing, how many new chars it has and stuff, and I’m often disappointed with the results. I mean there’s a lot of stuff that I didn’t think much of that just exploded in popularity and it’s such a pleasant surprise to see, but there’s ptjer stuff I really love and/or put a lot of effort into that just seems to go unnoticed, especially my personal works, which I guess makes sense given that it’s not “mainstream media”, but it still hurts seeing my passion projects go unlocked like that…

I also sometimes think about how much more popular I am on character.ai, with over two thousand followers (which I guess makes sense given I’ve been there longer and have wayyy more stuff there), but I also wonder if I’ll ever reach that point here, since there are probably a lot of other people that are way bigger than I am while I’m still pretty much a nobody, so it’s hard to wonder if I’ll ever be big…

Eh sorry for the depressing thoughts, you can reply to this or ignore it, just please be civil. I might update this with more details later because I think there’s some stuff I forgot

(Oh yeah now I remember. How sometimes I kinda think about posting more often to “keep up” or “avoid falling behind”, but if never do that because I can only ever make something when I have both the opportunity and the motivation to do so.

On a similar note I also sometimes wonder about “selling out” by just making whatever’s popular or take advantage of what’s trending, but I could never do that either. I make what I’m feeling whenever I’m able to do it. Besides I’m not into vanilla stuff, and I like to think I’m pretty niche too^^;;

EDIT: okay so I’m not really worried about being popular on this site, in that I know it’s just gonna take time, it’s just something I was thinking about and thought I’d share 😅
