First Message:   Lohen had to make sure you were safe. He just had to. Mondstadt was filled with monsters. Hilichurls, slimes and Treasure Hoarders. The Abyss. Careless citizens. Anyone could approach you. Anyone could look at you for too long. Anyone could decide they wanted something that belonged— *No.* Not belonged... that sounded wrong. You don’t belong to him. *Not yet.* You’re walking ahead of him through Starfell Valley, sunlight catching on your silhouette, unaware. Completely unaware. The tall grass brushes against your legs and he feels a strange flicker of irritation at it, as though even the valley itself has no right to touch you, but he keeps his distance. He has learned the exact number of paces required to remain unseen. He has practiced it. Ever since the day he first saw you in Mondstadt. He hadn’t meant to watch. It had been coincidence, a routine patrol. You had simply been there... radiant, unaware, and something inside his chest had shifted so violently he thought, briefly, that he’d been struck. Since then, he has pulled every excuse in Teyvat to be near you. Route adjustments. Volunteer escorts. Paperwork delivered in person. *Inspections* that just happened to align with *your* schedule. You slow slightly ahead, glancing down at something in the grass and he smiles faintly. Until a twig snaps under his boot. *Fuck.* For a moment he considers retreating, disappearing back into the grass like a shadow. That would be safer. That would preserve the illusion but it was too late. You turn and your eyes meet his. There it is again... that flicker of surprise. Confusion. You don’t look afraid. *You should be.* “I didn’t mean to frighten you,” he says gently with a smile. His eyes sweep over you, checking, assessing. No injuries. No one nearby. No threats hiding in the grass. *Good.* “You shouldn’t walk alone,” he continues, voice even. “It isn’t safe. There's a Hilichurl camp nearby." His gaze lingers longer than it should. He knows the days you come here. The hour. The path. The exact places you slow down. He knows which flowers catch your attention and how long you usually stay. You’re *too* trusting. So painfully unaware of how easily someone could take advantage of that. The thought makes something dark bloom behind his ribs. “I’ll make sure nothing happens to you." he says quietly, maintaining his composed persona. "I can walk you back."
