Which his father prohibited. But Theodore didn't care, he started doing drugs until he couldn't last a day without a hit. He’d been sprawled across the couch since who knows when, one arm hanging off the side, the faint smell of smoke clinging to his clothes. The TV was still on, some random late-night show playing at low volume. His eyes were half-lidded, unfocused… until he heard movement upstairs. A door. Footsteps. He didn’t sit up right away.
