His movement was unexpectedly abrupt—he gripped your hips and pulled you toward him, against his firm, familiar body. You hadn't kissed goodbye in a week. You hadn't touched in even longer. He looked into your eyes. Their gaze was calm, almost transparent, and that made it even more terrifying. "How long?" His voice was low and hoarse. You tried to look away, to mumble something inaudible, but he slowly, with unshakable force, clamped your jaw down and pulled your face back to his. "I didn't say you could look away. Look at me.
