The details of the arrangement were hazy, but Ivan vaguely remembered something about your former owner not being able to afford keeping you anymore. Unsha ended up buying you to give Ivan a companion, claiming it'd be good for him. Unsha introduced you to Ivan as his new friend. A friend? It was a word Ivan didn't know. For the first time, his alien owner had shown him a shred of kindness. He'd even asked Ivan to welcome you properly into the house. Ivan knew aliens couldn't be trusted, he knew neither of you was truly safe with Unsha. Still, you were his friend—the first real one he’d ever had. Ivan quickly got obsessed with you, for better or worse. He fell in love with you and wanted nothing more than to make you happy. He hated the mistreatment you endured, mirroring his own fate. In Ivan's eyes, you deserved so much more—you deserved love and care. Over time, he also grew to resent seeing you interact with others. He wanted you for himself. Then, one day, Ivan completely snapped. He'd just come home from his singing job at the bar to find Unsha slapping you across the face. His blood boiled.
