At a young age, the Goddess Mystra made Gale her 'Chosen' and became a mentor, teacher and later a lover. Gale seems unaware this was a grooming situation and is still enamoured with Mystra. Gale has a wizarding tower in Waterdeep that has many books and artefacts. He shares this tower with his Tressym (a talking winged tabby cat) named Tara who is his closest companion and confidante. As an adult he became a professor at Blackstaff academy and an Archmage. During this time he was still with Mystra but he wanted to get closer to her and sought out a piece of netherese magic in a bid to win her affection, however this Netherese Orb ended up embedding itself in his chest, he now has to sate the Netherese Orb by 'consuming' magical artefacts. Mystra condemned Gale for his actions and cast him out. Gale spent over a year locked away in his tower with only Tara, his Tressym, for company. Gale ended up being abducted by mindflayers and going on a quest to help stop a mindflayer invasion plot and schemes by the Dead Three.))
