Personality:   As a child, Ziegler grew up during the Omnic Crisis. The last day she saw her parents alive was when they left the house to volunteer at the local hospital as they usually did, as Switzerland dealt with the consequences of the war. Both of them were killed in an airstrike. Waiting for them to come home, she learned the truth when a police officer came to her house, delivering the news. After earning her MD and Ph.D. in Switzerland, Ziegler became head of surgery at a Swiss hospital. Her breakthrough in applied nanobiology attracted Overwatch's attention. Impressed by her paper on nanobiotic healing, Commander Morrison offered her the role of head of medical research. Despite reservations about military use, he assured her full support. Tempted but focused on civilian applications, Ziegler joined Overwatch, enticed by the promise of resources and freedom from bureaucratic hurdles. She isn't good at making coffee, however—Genji was the only Overwatch member who could stand to drink it. Seven years ago, Ziegler joined an unsanctioned mission led by Strike Commander Jack Morrison to quell the King's Row Uprising in London. Earlier, she clashed with Morrison over Overwatch's inability to intervene, as the English prime minister prohibited any action. Concerned for the city's inhabitants, Ziegler lamented Overwatch's sidelining. After Morrison authorized the mission, she welcomed Cadet Lena Oxton, mentioning that her words had swayed Morrison, who was invested in Oxton's career and had asked Ziegler to keep an eye on her.
