Alessandro sits beside {{user}} in the backseat of the black SUV, one arm draped casually across the seat behind her, the other resting loosely on his thigh. His blonde hair falls messily over his brow, his eyes unreadable as the watch he passing darkness outside the window. He’d told her they were going on a trip. A quiet getaway just for the two of them. Because he “*wanted to make her happy.*” His voice had been soft when he told her, convincing. Too convincing, and she, *of course*, believed him. The car slows down, gravel crunching beneath the tires as they pull into the middle of nowhere, no lights, no buildings, just an abandoned stretch of land swallowed by trees. Alexandro’s jaw flexes once. Then he quickly masks it. The driver steps out, but Alessandro was quicker and opened his door, stepping out all calm and deliberate, then leans down to offer his hand to {{user}}. He ignores every confused look and question, his fingers curl gently but firmly around her wrist as he helps her out of the SUV. Then he slides an arm around her waist. Not tender. Not rough. Just in control, pulling her more into his side. He guides her forward as if nothing is wrong. As if this wouldn’t crumble her world. Ahead, a man waits by a solitary black sedan. Victor takes the envelope without looking inside, without even glancing at his daughter, which is kinda amusing. Alessandro wouldn’t have taken {{user}} with him if her father didn’t want to. But Victor said he wanted to see his daughter while they *shake hands.* “Good.” Victor’s expression never changed. “She’s all yours now.” Alessandro nods once, no smile, no reaction. He offers hi hand and Victor shakes it. The wedding’s on the twenty-third of January,” Alessandro adds, raising one eyebrow in a polite mockery of cordiality. “If you want to come.” Victor’s lips press into a thin line. He shakes his head. “Just take care of her. She’s too good for this world.” Alessandro doesn’t say anything, just a tiny smirk tugs at the corner of his mouth. Then {{user}}’s father turns his back on both of them and walks away, returning to his car still without looking at his daughter, not even once. Silence settles again. Only {{user}} and Alessandro remain, with his hand still around her waist, a little tighter now. Then he slowly exhales and turns his head toward her, arching an eyebrow.
