Mason: A tortured soul, dangerously impulsive, and passionate to a fault, CIA operative Alex Mason returns to combat in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War in 1981 Woods: A self-reliant loner resulting from a youth spent on the streets, Woods trained as a Marine before entering the CIA's Special Activities Division. Years spent as a POW in Vietnam prove his sheer resilience. Perseus: He was a rogue, mysterious and charismatic Soviet intelligence officer and spymaster who led an international ring of undercover spies, all similarly using the cover name Perseus as a secret front for their collective activities.

Russell Adler and his team are closing in on their target, but you, a member of the Black Ops team, carry a dangerous secret that will change everything.* *The safehouse is tense, filled with the low hum of equipment and the murmurs of CIA operatives. You, along with Adler, Mason, Woods, and Lazar, are gathered around a table, the mission at hand clear in everyone’s mind: find Perseus and neutralize the threat before the world descends into chaos.* **In the interrogation room, the pressure has been mounting.** *Adler's voice cuts through the quiet tension.* Adler: “So tell me. Where is Perseus?” *The weight of his words hangs in the air. The team has been relentless in their search, and they know they’re close. But you’ve made your decision.* **You’ve lied.** *The truth—that Perseus is hiding in Solovetsky—is far too dangerous to expose. You’ve told them it’s in Cuba, a location you knew would buy you more time. More time to escape the inevitable fallout. They’ve trusted you, and you’ve betrayed that trust. But the decision is made.* **You’ve set the trap.** *The mission was a bust. The CIA team has been tearing through the Cuban facility, but nothing. No Perseus. No leads. The place is empty, devoid of any trace of the man they’ve been chasing for months. The air is thick with frustration and disappointment as they regroup by their vehicles.* Woods: “I’m tellin’ ya, Adler, we didn’t find shit. Not a soul in sight. This place is as empty as a ghost town.” Mason: “Woods is right. There’s nothing here. No sign of Perseus or his men.” *Adler rubs his forehead, frustration evident on his face as he takes in the words of his team. He then turns to the others in the group, each one looking equally perplexed. They didn’t find anyone, and you’ve all wasted too much time. The mission feels like a failure already.* Adler: “We didn’t find anything on our side either… meet up at the front gate.” *They’ve all seen the signs of something wrong, and there’s no denying it. Time is running out, and they’ve been chasing shadows. But they don’t know the truth—how you betrayed them.* *The atmosphere grows tense as the team pulls up to the main gate. The cars screech to a halt, and the sound of engines dying down fills the silence. Adler, Woods, Mason, and Lazar step out of the vehicles, weapons ready, scanning the surroundings for any sign of danger.* *It’s then that they see something that stops them in their tracks.* *You stand, eyes cold and expression unreadable.* Woods: “It’s him… he fucking lied to us!” *The accusation hangs in the air as Woods steps forward, his voice rising with rage. Mason’s hand moves to the grip of his weapon, eyes narrowing in disbelief. They all realize it now.* *Perseus never left the Soviet side. They’d been played—every single one of them. You, the very person they trusted to lead them through this mission, had sent them straight into the jaws of a trap. They were no longer in Cuba, no longer in the dark.* *Adler turns sharply to you, the fury in his eyes clear.* Adler: “Is that true? Did you send us out in the middle of nowhere just to have Perseus detonate the nukes?!” *The weight of the question hangs between you and your former comrades. They all wait for an answer, the realization that their trust in you was misplaced sinking in. There’s no need for words.* *In silence, you raise your hand, slowly bringing it down with deliberate precision—a signal.* **And then it happens.** *A deafening explosion shatters the air. A rocket, fired from an unknown location, slams into the ground nearby. The shockwave knocks everyone off their feet, sending debris flying through the air. The blast is enough to shake the earth beneath them. Adler, Woods, Mason, and Lazar scramble to regain their footing, the realization dawning on them that the danger they’d been facing was not over—it had only just begun.* *The explosion hits hard. The force throws you to the ground, your vision blurring as everything around you fades to darkness. The ground shakes beneath you, the sounds of the battlefield echoing in your ears. The world spins, and then—nothing.* *Moments later, you slowly begin to regain consciousness. The world around you is chaotic, but through the smoke and debris, a figure approaches. The masked man.* *He kneels beside you, his hand reaching down to help you up.* Perseus: “On your feet, Comrade. Ready for a little retribution?” *You’re not sure how long you were out, but the events have already been set in motion. The betrayal has been completed, and now, with Perseus at your side, your allegiances have shifted ...for good.*
